  1. I didnt cry but that was a really moving final battle (when I saw house of the flying daggers it reminded me of MGSIII). The sort that you dont want to fight but you have no choice. Usually in RPGs by the time I get to the end boss I cant wait to kick it's arse. Sin was the same in FFX though I felt really sorry for sin although he had to die.
  2. George Galloway has the vouchers under his bed.
  3. The problem is that Anakin was given too many motivations. The primary one which seemed to be save Padme whatever the cost was shot to bits when he thought he had killed her. Gratitude to the emporer dosnt seem too likely, revenge on Obi Wan ? Possibly , that could lead to him searching around the Galaxy. Anakin as a trgic figure just trying to save his wife might have worked if he hadnt gone around butchering children. He wasnt even involved directly in order 66 so without that scene he could have been very much the tragic hero... In which case meeting Luke would remind him of his humanity. I expect somewhere along the way he would have figured out that he didnt kill Padme after all. Probably between EPV and VI which would reinforce his motivations for turning on the emporer , who had lied to him all along. To me that seems to fit together better in relation with EP IV-VI.
  4. In many ways this is the combat aspect of KOTORII's influence system. Used in the Fireemblem series, the idea is that each character will have a relationship potential with other characters and by having the units in close proximity over time (depending on how easily character A+B relate) a support will develop. A support is basically a boost in stats and or combat potential when the two characters are together. Think of it as the next level of the Dual Strike feat in KOTOR II. Rather than a simple bonus it becomes about the relationship between characters , how they fight together and can read each others moves and thus draw strength from that and improve accordingly. It also leads nicely onto combo attacks and team attacks which would open up as the support level between characters rose. If that is a little difficult to grasp here is an example from fireEmblem. The starting character Lyn(dis) has the following support options. Eliwood, Hector, Florina, Wallace, Rath, Wil, Kent If she spends enough time fighting alongside any of those characters, or for KOTOR terms ,she and any of those characters are paired for long enough. That will trigger a support conversation and the appropriate combat boost and or teqnique. While the calculations are a bit complex, the concept itself is simple enough and gives a very organic feel of growing closeness in combat and the transition from individiual warriors to group working together and working off of each other.
  5. True there does seem a lack of motivation for Vader post EPIII. Self pity dosnt really work for him I spent some time at monkey world. I'm sure the chimp was fine
  6. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's also much easier when the outcome is already known..
  7. Who knows... there was a lot in the movie that seemed shoehorned to fit what would have to come after I thought. Although after it was all over it was not like he had anywhere to go. The whole "tragic" Anakin was completely lost after the Jedi Temple. The whole anakin lying there reminded me of that chimp thread , except in that case it would have been bloody stumps rather than neatly cauterised wounds
  8. Just an FYI I found a reference to Xenosaga II coming out in europe 3rd quarter.
  9. Thats what happens when you leave a job half done. It's easy enough to win a war with the sort of forces they sent in. It's quite another thing to keep a peace. For that you needed a force at least twice the size of the one over there.
  10. And once your done with it? You have a nice shiny doorstop for the next few months They also tend to be the sort of games I rent for a weekend and the rental scene will take a year or so to establish. It reminds me of the DS lots of stuff I'm waiting for. Very little that I want right now at the time of release. One advantage of the 360 is you likely wont have that localisation gap.
  11. Sony actually continued to release PS games well into the lifecycle of the PS2. You might not see PS games on the highstreet shelves although our local blockbuster still has 50 or so but they are pretty easy to get online. I found front mission 3 for
  12. Depends if they have a publisher or not. Most of the East European stuff fails on a technical level so getting overly exited isnt usually a good idea.
  13. What you have to consider is that this technology is very new and while it wont be that worthwhile initially the console is going to have a span of 4-5 years. It's much like how the current generation play DVD's when the PS2 was released DVD's were quite uncommon over here. If you read the nintendo article MS have lost billions keeping the Xbox afloat so sony is likely doing the same in preperation. Besides we all know the cutting edge of technology is usually Tokyo and first and foremost the PS3 is a Japanese console. As Sony's interests also lay outside in the wider media fields it makes sense that the PS3 would have that sort of technology. I think someone called the 360 the exbox version 1.5 , because it's really not much more than a more powerful Xbox. Sony's ace to me would be the whole backwards compatibility to the PS which instantly means a huge range of high quality low cost titles once the launch titles die off and you get that inevitable long wait for the next wave of titles. The whole idea of having to sign up to live to make old titles playable ,especially if it costs like it does now dosnt appeal in the slightest. Why pay to play software you already paid for?
  14. well I'd put him out of his misery like Obi Wan should have. Do I have a heart for GL's cheesey story ? Not in the slightest. Darth even had the same injuries as steve except for the mask doing the job of the bionic eye.
  15. That whole thing reminded me of the 6 million $ man.. We can rebuild him make him better, stronger faster.. Anakin Skywalker is Robo Darth the 6 million $ Jedi.
  16. You would have to rewrite the EPIV dialogue too. When I left I was a limbless charcoal brickette now I am the master
  17. ten minutes or so of her running up and down stairs would have done the trick. Maybe some running and jumping to get away from those clone troopers and a lot of stairs....
  18. Yes :D Tell that to all the other sad gits at pokemon world. Yes such a place exists and I have the limited edition nintendo DS to prove it. I think the 117 ultra balls it took to catch Zapdos is to blame for the dream.
  19. Women are easy to distract, just toss designer shoes or jewelry.
  20. If Kelly Hu had been around I may have had to move in... I had the freakiest EPIII dream the night after I watched it. Just after Obi Wan had beaten Anakin.. Anakin was lying there and Obi reached down to his belt and pulled out a Pokeball... Seeing him trapped in a Pokeball was strangle disturbing. I seriously Od'd on Pokemon while I was over there. :">
  21. Do you mean that the 360 isnt backwards compatible ? Or that your games just stopped working? Tiger Woods on the DS is fun. Makes good use of the touch screen. As for costs of consoles, I see them as a one off payment for which you get the best of the system for 4-5 years. Seriously compared to the ammount I could spend keeping a PC top of the line for the same 4-5 years dosnt even come close. Nice article from Nintendo Europe http://eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=59446 not related to the subject really, but interesting.
  22. Well I wouldnt know about that... Was funny though when I was asked what the most memorable part of RotS was. Glad that didnt get quoted
  23. Actually I was thinking no wonder the clone troopers made her take point. Thats the sort of arse you would follow anywhere (w00t)
  24. Yes it is.. Plus Nintendo intend to allow downloading of nes and snes and N64games for free although aging is going to be a factor most of the N64 stuff should be ok. If it includes the Japanese and US games that never made it to europe it's going to be well worth buying. Any clues if there will be a Doa:Volleyball JES?
  25. I dont know about that. I got a very different experience storywise doing the hotspots to what I got doing the full thing. Including the whole behind the scenes at operation mei hen which was really dark... The only real difference was a female protagonist some people found that difficult to come to terms with.. although yes it did have a Jpop vibe in places the 1000 years song was incredibly moving as was the the whole back story.
