Huh the ship was docked on the station...what was so stupid about that?
-
Obsidian has not said anything about the state of the product at all? It seems so...un-Black Isle like Not a good sign...
-
This is the first time I have ever ever posted on this subject before. All I was saying is you cannot judge patch support on the PC version on what happened with the XBox version. Are you saying you CAN patch the Xbox version so we can make a fair comparison?

**MAJOR SPOILERS READ AT YOUR PERIL** I consider this too long to put the whole thing in 'Spoiler' brackets sorry. Anyway I thought it was great right up until Malachor V (Well I was a bit confused where the Koonda Militia and the Onderon Military came from on Telos when the Sith attacked <_< ) then there were some design and writing issues: 1. Cheap gimmick how Exile ends up alone on Malachor V. Game did not even bother to say what happened to the rest of the group. Dont even know if the Exile was tossed from the Ebon Hawk when it crashed (and what a *groan* moment that was, like anything could have survived a crash like that!) or if he exited on his own or what? 2. If you are LS Mira tracks you...but never catches up. What happens to her and how she reached the Ebon hawk to escape are never mentioned. I figured she would be joining you for the final battles but no. Considering this why did Kreia go through all the effort of bringing Hanharr there to hunt her? 3. Somehow the Remote gets separated from Bao Dur. What happens to Bao Dur and how did this happen? Then GOTO somehow finds the remote and then...er...somehow either the planet blows up or it doesn't. Also it looks like the planet starts to collapse right after Kreia dies if you are LS, before you even give the signal to the Remote and GOTO. WTF? How poorly done was that? 4. The Ebon Hawk somehow breaks free from its rocky perch and falls. You could imagine that this enables them to get it working again and fly off before it hits the ground but that would assume that the Ebon hawk somehow suffered no damage from its crash or that there was anybody on board at the time. The significance of this scene is omitted completely and the Ebon Hawk somehow miraculously appears at the end...we can only guess what happened. 5. Before you confront Sion the Malachor surface and the Traya Academy are just boring hack fests. Nothing interesting or memorable about these levels at all. Nobody to talk to, no computers, no puzzles...nothing. Boring design. Basically besides the confrontation with Traya and Sion the whole thing is embarrasingly bad and boring and completely out of step with the quality of the rest of the game. It would be nice to have some statement about what was originally planned to happen on Malachor V because surely this was not it.

KOTOR 2 X-Box or PC version?
Brannart replied to AromisTallion's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If Obsidian is interested in being successful over the long term they better decide to support their products. We already know how enormously successful LA is, they wont do anything. -
I will need at least a screenshot before I start getting interested. I wonder how loyal they will be to the spirit of the gameplay and series
-
ok what do i need to do to talk/see bastila?
Brannart replied to Darth Makaan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If you set DS in Kotor2 he is already dead. If you talk to HK-47 about his former master he makes fun of Carth. Its pretty funny. -
I would say he has replaced Zalabar as my most hated character of the whole KOTOR series, to date anyway. I think there should have been the option to send GOTO to Malacor(SP?) and just have hit blow up and take out a large section of the planet... Now that would have been a great ending. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought Truly did not see that one coming. Besides he is the easiest character to ignore. You can just leave him on the ship and forget you even have him.

I have thought about it and the biggest reason I dont like action based RPGs is because that invariably means they will not be party based. I cant even think of a non-action based RPG that is not party based, and every time they add action elements it becomes just you. Like the transition from Ultima VII to Ultima VIII (sorry for the old school reference). Its not the only reason I prefer character based rather than player based combat but that is one of the biggies. How exactly would you make an action RPG party based without it becoming Multi-player?
-
So you get in your X-Wing and go shoot up Tie Fighters like in the old LA games? That sounds pretty cool  How exactly does it not work and become just a way to get from planet to planet?
-
I believe it was having an opinion that he believed went against sanity. "
-
Combat is the center of the gameplay. You spend at least half the game killing things. I dont fear actionbased combat, I simply do not enjoy it-I think it makes the game cheesy and not enjoyable. Thats just my opinion of course. And nothing is wrong with having both in RPGs alot of RPGs do and I do not often play those RPGs.
-
Ah gotcha. I was confused as there is no Kotor2 demo that I know of. :">
-
Wow I have no idea what you are talking about. Is this about Kotor II?
-
Wait all JTL gives you is a shuttle? You cant get a fighter and fly around shooting fighter baddies? What kind of crappy expansion is that?
-
If they want to create a crappy SW action/RPG hybrid that is fine. I will simply not be buying it. However this is KOTOR and so should have KOTOR gameplay. Changing the entire game in the middle of the series is thankfully not going to happen. I would like for them to stop having the AI change all your orders when you switch characters so you can actually plan out your battles. A more devious and challenging AI is almost a necessity. This is a world with guns and grenades and rockets and everything always runs up to fight swords with you

Gamespot : Voices of The Sith Lords
Brannart replied to kumquatq3's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
now we know how really rushed this game was <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Um that was just for the voices. But yes after IWD2 those ex-BIS people haven't had a game in a while that they did not have to do on an absurdly short developement cycle -
Kreia
-
Nope dont hate you, just all the gliches I found were infinit influence, experience, money and stuff like that I could or could not take advantage of. I guess there might be gamestoppers or something really buggy about it but I have been playing it since release and haven't seen them. What kind of big gamestoppers have you had?
-
Yes but they would also have to pay all the overhead. You are talking about developement for next gen consoles?
-
It makes no sense to not fix the X-Box bugs. Unless they think giving a bug-free version to the PC crowd somehow hurts the X-Box player...
-
Yeah nobody in Krynn could be higher than 18 or the Gods would do something lame to you or something. Ariakus (the C-in-C of the Dragon Army in the original trilogy) was level 20 but he had some kind of special status. But this is really old school stuff, surely the setting would be unrecognizable to people like me who read the original trilogy 15 or so years ago and that was it. Who knows what that setting has moved on to. Anyway if Kotor II is any indication shades of PS:T will be present in Obsidians games. Doing a sequel is not really necessary and in any case not going to happen unless some masochist tries to do it in NWN.
-
And for that I am eternally grateful. The only game I want to see developed by LA is Monkey Island 5 " Why would they try to do Kotor III in house anyway?

Mike Gallo interview at Xequted
Brannart replied to Darth Sun_Tzu's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Lucasarts doesn't want them to talk about the issues with the game with us? I would be interested to know what kind of silly thinking is behind that policy.
