  1. Got an email from Hasbro, Boba Fett is on his way. The same day, they revealed the upcoming Wave 3 of the Star Wars Black Series 6" characters, and it includes a stonking beautiful Stormtrooper, who will likely become as unobtainable as Fett. Pre-order for this figure sold out in minutes. I missed it. Will keep trying.

  2. I don't even want to speculate how long Ward and May have been ... assembling. A year, a week, doesn't matter I'm not jealous super stupid handsome, cut, chiseled features Agent Ward dumb head.  :p

Although if Agent May does/did invest emotionally with Ward, that would really inform his character. No matter what, it was great to get some background stories illuminated. I love that Coulsen cares about special things, like his timepiece: "I think they only made twenty ..."

  3. Oh, yep, that price does negate a bunch of the charm. Funny how I didn't really connect the dots at first, but damn, three hundred bucks is bonkers. I think I subconsciously compared the total cost to that of a straight SSD.

Oh well, solid-state memory will never come down in price, I guess. If only they would fire-sale my other favorite drive, the 10k rpm Raptors. I want a 1TB for the PS4 and another to stick in this box ... but more than $200 for an HDD is equally bonkers.

  4. Well, obviously... I am quite pleased that you were able to switch around your initial impression of KOTOR2 thanks to TSLRCM. Always nice to hear those kind of words :).

OP is right, I felt the same way. Thanks for fixing my favorite game.

  5. Anyone else with a tech chubby for this WD dual drive ... a distinct 120GB SSD inside the same 2.5" case as a 1TB pair of mechanical disks. It's not a hybrid, the OS recognizes two different drives in one, on one SATA III port. $299 MSRP. Sounds perfect for that low-bloat Linux Steam Machine I'm investigating.

  6. Almost Human: Die Hard Edition. Let me see if I can count all the similarities ... terrorists take over skyscraper, hold group of hostages, prior demands include release of jailed compatriots, the 25th floor, cops set up command post on street, cops disable city block communications, hero cop already inside building--unbeknownst to terrorist leader, girl hostage asks to use bathroom, hero cop engages in gun battle in stairwell/alternate floors, hero cop uses elevator shaft and air vent to re-engage terrorists, hostage double-cross--they were always going to die, act of terror was only a cover for grand theft, terrorist leader consoles henchman by mentioning post-heist beach activities, hero cop's first name is John, Almost Human hero cop's middle name is Reginald--same name as real-life Die Hard cast member, Reginald VelJohnson.

Anyway, kick-ass episode. I frickin love that "hard drive activity light" on Dorian's temple.

  7. My mom did the same thing ... microfiche, birth and death records, hard-copy info at cemeteries ... genealogy is definitely her thing. She's found relatives from before 19th century from across the whole of Britain and Ireland. Also records of relatives from both sides of the American Civil War. Seems like a lot of ancestral military, but that could be because they keep better records, and in English. My mom's dad was Air Force in WWII, my father was a Green Beret, his brother a demo expert for the Navy ... I enlisted as an infantry Marine, and my cousin just graduated boot camp here at MCRD. I wouldn't say it's a tradition, I mean I don't think wearing a uniform is "where we're really from," so to speak, but it's fun to feel a sense of identity with the people you're related to, who came before you.

  8. I think my 360 Slim is a tad sexier than the One, too, until I remember how much faster the new console is.

I love that all-black Day One box. Nice job. I'm curious how Ryse plays ... I'll never know since I went blue this year.  :ninja:

  9. Healthier compared to what?   I know you guys have taco shops up there, too, so it can't be those. I suppose 70% soy and 30% actual meat at Taco Bell is healthier than 100% red meat beef burritos anywhere. I recently heard Mexico is more obese now than the US. Not that burritos cause obesity, or even came from Mexico ...

  10. On the national news, they showed a photo of two of those women Marines standing at the POA, looking every bit as buff as the males around them.

That is awesome, and seriously impressive, congratulations to them. An 03- capable female Marine ... warms my heart.

  11. I'd like to skip Windows and build a low-level API machine only for Steam games. I mean I think it sounds good ... Linux and/or Steam OS, both on an SSD ... perhaps with Kaveri/270 hardware, nothing bonkers ... and Mantle, if it proves to be worthwhile. No DirectX, no Internet Explorer, no high-level Windows bloat getting in the way ... I love the idea. Should be plenty of games available, too, by then, from what I'm seeing, even AAA. With any luck, at 1080p that R9 270 might perform like a 280 will under Windows.

  12. Well, I haven't seen it yet, but in the days of future past, I will have seen The Desolation of Smaug and fallen again for Evangeline Lilly, who looks to be the bestest looking, most ass-kickinest elven archer in Middle-earth yet. Check out the new trailer on TV ... her character is going to make Legolas and Haldir (rest his soul) look like cub scouts at archery camp.

  13. I just try to remember that someone else always has it worse. Like, I can still walk, but how many uniforms out there lost their legs in an IED attack, or, instead of the academic standards committee, it's the VA that is ****ing administratively incompetent. It's hard to see through the self-fog, but the empathy you feel when you do might ease one's own roiling murk.

  14. The testicle mention was paltry compared to the sex-trafficking, skin farming, abductions, and murdering of both human and android.  Still, Almost Human is a triumph of character and visuals, Karl Urban is just impossibly charismatic, along with Michael Ealy. The lab guy is fantastic, too. Same with the police captain. It's shocking how well-developed all of their relationships feel, already.

Season 5 Star Trek: TNG blu-ray release on deck, tonight, woot!!
