  1. Now I hope they get some O-Line upgrades in the draft because it does not matter who the QB is if he spends the whole game on his back.

That's the number-one issue down in this county, too. Philip Rivers is constitutionally disinclined to scramble, but there's renewed faith around here he won't have to, so much.

As an aside, my buddy tends bar at a ritzy-shmitzy private golf club where Rivers and head coach Mike McCoy enjoy off-season beverages. So if six degrees of Kevin Bacon is anything to go by, I am only one degree away from the Chargers' main men!  :p

  2. Project CARS vs. Real Life at Laguna Seca:

Can't walk past Laguna Seca without acknowledging that babe. A treasured, world-class hidden heart of American racing, that place. Corkscrew, you, man.

Am now certain on getting this CARS game.

  3.

That game symbolizes a phase in the gaming industry that I recall, and which nearly qualifies as an extinction event well up there among the meteor that eradicated most dinosaurs 65 million years ago.

It's almost horrifying how gamers today want an industry crash.

  4. And right now, all assets and data stamped "1313" are stored on a single 2.5" hard drive within a vault made of black, volcanic glass in Irvine, California ...

    C'mon, please be true.

  5.

I know, but with those 3D engines getting cheaper by the day, the sky is the limit. Imagine an Unreal-based Eternity, for instance! :)

I would still prefer 2D Art. So, I'm just the wrong person to ask here.

I thought it was clear he wouldn't mind both ... an isometric 2D and a sandbox 3D ... different games but both in the Eternity universe. Anyway, it was just musing and conjecture, but still pretty exciting.

  6.

It was just getting hard to make games at Interplay, and we were worried that we were just going to show up one day and there would be a locked door.

I ... know the feeling. No locked doors, though, just no door at all.

Where I'd like us to be is we've made another big RPG, we're maybe working on another one. We're on Eternity 3 or 4. We've also branched into maybe other product lines - maybe there is both the isometric Eternity and a Skyrim-like Eternity.

  7. The best companion ever, human or not, was a black and tan half-and-half Rottweiler named Bruce. Big teeth, a big heart, and super smart. So lovable and strong, god I miss him.

Last day of work for this outfit. Time to start Friday's libations, as today was an inglorious end to an inglorious time.

  8. Saw a good variety of wildlife today, as I was working just north of a local habitat called Marine Corps Air Station Miramar ... Hornet after Hornet flew directly overhead, plus a number of Sea Stallions, and even an Osprey rumbled barely 1500' above. Loud and glorious.

  9. So there's this ... http://arstechnica.com/science/2014/04/habitable-exoplanets-are-bad-news-for-humanity/

My small capacity to reason cannot make sense of the Great Filter or why it's good to be alone in the universe ...

If Kepler-186f is teeming with intelligent life, then that would be really bad news for humanity because it would push back the Great Filter’s position further into the technological stages of a civilization’s development. This would imply that catastrophe awaits both us and our extraterrestrial companions.

  10. I have literally seen with my own eyes an Atom on public roadways. The driver was wearing a helmet.

I haven't played a car game since Forza III, but Project CARS on PS4 looks inevitable. Especially if Spa and the Nurburgring are really in the game.

  11. Did some checking, and the "twin-handle" that I remember is called a spade grip, but I can't find any M249s with it. So I suspect my memory is of an M60 or similar, with spade grips, even though for sure the M249 was part of the program at the time (1991).

Isn't this the Firearms thread? Sorry. :dancing:

  12. I swear the M-249 had a twin-handle rear buttstock thing, almost like a .50, perhaps ... or am I thinking of a different weapon. I remember because during disassembly practice, long ago, I took the handle unit off and placed it face down, which was a no-no. I had to run up the hill three times for doing that.
