  1. If nobody answers, it's likely that no. Are your Windows, your chipset and soud card drivers up to date ? Did you install correctly all the drivers (ie : uninstall the old version, reboot, install the new ones, reboot...) ? Since it seems to be a technical issue, it will not be fixed in the restauration project which is "only" aimed at restaurent game content (deleted scenes, quests and so on...). You should try other games and heavy applications to see if you encounter the same ind of trouble. If yes, it could be an hardware problem. A long memtest is quite recommended. AWT like Abstract Window Toolkit ?
  2. It will be compatible with an Ati chipset (I didn't know where they sold them until now). I hope so, my nForce 2 works perfectly well with my Radeon 9600 Pro.
  3. Well, if you play the game in 1024*768 with graphics and sound details maxed and a bit of Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering, the PC version is already superior to the XBox one. Since the gameplay of the KotOR was thought for the PC, you can't even say the XBox version could have matched the PC version. This conspiracy theory is quite stupid in my opinion. Anyway, I think the content patch will be available near the middle of June, two months after the 1.0b which was released two months after the PC game release...
  4. I thought this thread was about to ask developpers what happened to the content patch, not to debate endlessly on how did two people argue on PS:T or K2...
  5. Hum Java is fine to do this work too. What I was ever told seems to be right : C# really seems to be a MS branded and ehanced version of Java.
  6. I do not thing the bios matters very much in such problem. Do you have the lastest version of your graphic card drivers ? The Catalyst 5.5 fixes some bugs with KotOR II...
  7. If you have an internationnal version of the game you have to install the 1.0a patch first and then the 1.0b patch. You have to have a non modified game ie not patched with any nocd nor other modified game files (which means you can have mods in the Override directory). The 1.0b patch is said to use a new version of the CD check utility which seems to be far less crackable and far more sensitive with CD/DVD players and emulators (such as Daemon tools). And obviously it is also best to have a perfectly up to date system with an up to date Windows and the lastest drivers of your graphic card, chipset, sound card and so on.
  8. If your CD case looks like a DVD case it's normal : these kind of (crappy compared to american game boxes) case can contain up to 3 CD. The number of possible CD is written in the center (1, 2 or 3). The fourth is in a paper case under the manual. But the game has 4 CD, I'm sure of this. So, you have to complain to your retailer and ask him to install the game to prove him he's wrong.
  9. The SDK seems to be still in alpha or beta state, so it must be quite hard to tell which machine is the most easily programmable. I really think the winner will be the one who will make developpement on his console easier than it's rival. However, some people said the architecture of the PS3 could end up by being not too difficult to program since it introduces a hierarchy in the cores of the CELL. I don't have any game programing nor console programing experience so I'm quite unable to say accurately such things.
  10. The game has 4 CD, whichever version you could buy. So your retailer is lying you... It's in these circumstances I'm wondering why the **** they don't put the game on DVD...
  11. I've heard it was possible to use DirectX with C#. Since this language handles memory management itself, I think there will be more and more programers (even game programers) who will not want to bore themselves with memory management and such things to concentrate on the actual problems. I think such languages will be more and more used even to make games in a long term point of view.
  12. Well, it's a desperate case if you're not able to read PS:T dialogs. Some people are thinking this is what makes this game close to pen and paper RPG. Personnally, I almost played the game as if it was an interactive novell.
  13. I received a mail linking to a survey. I obviously said them all the good (plot) and bad (game rushed) I think of the game. For the CD protection, it is said that some CD emulation program such as Daemon Tools are not liked by Securom or other kind of copy protection. Some CD/DVD players could also be the cause of your problem. Anyway, complaining to LucasArts for fixing this is a good idea. If it don't work, well, there is still the nocd patch solution.
  14. As far as I know, the content patch will only feature high resolution movies and music. Unfortunately, an Obsidian developper said a few time ago that a content patch fixing the inconsistent end proposal has been rejected by LucasArts. So it's not their fault if LucasArts set up unrealistic deadline (13 month to make the seque of such great RPG) and do not want to fix the casualties.
  15. I must have said it a couple of times, but LucasArts is in a special dimension where a few days means a few months.
  16. This is especially true in the Star Wars case. If most of the studios who are making Star Wars games are unknown, the people who work at these studios worked before in very well known developpement studios. For example, most of Obsidian's team come from Black Isle and most of the Petroglyph's (currently developping the Star Wars RTS Empire at War) team come from Westwood. Raven, who made the Jedi Knight II and III, is very close to Id Software and developped a lot of addons and games based on Id's FPS. I think you'll have to make some very good games and/or work in well know teams before thinking about making a Star Wars game. However, it is said that modding is a very good way to join viedogames industry. You could try to gather a team and make a Star Wars mod to a good, modern and modable RTS. However, managing a team is not an easy work nor making videogames at all.
  17. I depends on what you plan to do after your school. Anyway, knowing some other languages is ever usefull. You should continue C++ and try to discover other object programming languages such as Java or C#. They are very easy to understand and you can make a lot of thing with them very quickly since they both have a huge amount of classes. They both have quite good and free IDE which are very usefull. I don't know at all C++ but if it's not already the case, Java and C# won't bother you with memory management. This is one of the most important ehancement brought by these progamming languages in my opinion.
  18. This don't have anything related to the topic... Well, I think it's time to mail Lucas Arts to ask them what's the f*ck about the content patch...
  19. If there is no replies, it must be that nobody know. Anyway, in these cases, if your soundcard supports EAX 4 and if the game does not allow you to enable it, it is very likely that the game does not support it. Remember that the game engine has been developped about two years ago. It don't think this technical thing lacks really to the game, especially with the high number of integrated sound cards which does not support any EAX at all.
  20. They are not forbidden to say this on their sites. I would have been a bit more patient if I knew the reasons of such delaying...
  21. Well let's be realistic, the last patch for this game will be released in late 2006, so a few LA's weeks after the release of the game.
  22. The "high resolution" movies could be cut-scenes handled by the game engine. Anyway, it should not be so difficult to test them and see if they work correctly.
  23. Or maybe Kreia just kill them/him on Dantooine.
