  1. Making a profit on a few hundred thousand copies doesn't even start to make the game finantially relevent in terms of a sequal, especially when those sales have been 'consistent', given that the figures generally considered important are those moved in the first two weeks or so. You just have a different definition of 'squat'.
  2. Let us not forget that PS:T sold precisely squat, which will likely play a big factor in the lack of a 'sequal'.
  3. I'd gut Viconia if I ever bothered to play that far.
  4. Man, climbing the tower in crackdown was awsome. Even if I had to wait 10 minutes for Llyranor to catch up.
  5. In AoE3 you could build Hackapells, which I assume are the same thing.
  6. Yeah, he said they'd have been more than happy to do the same, given half a chance.

  8. I was actually talking to a friend of mine who had done some time (wrong place, wrong time, basically) and he pointed out that there's a reason why the sex offenders are (in the UK anyway) generally kept completely seperate from other offenders (in his case they manned the kitchens). As he put it 'there are all sorts of reasons for killing someone, and people understand that, but a sexual attack is pretty singleminded'. Which makes me wonder if my opinon on taking premeditation into account (simply because we do for things like murder) is right.

Well it WAS Soule, so expected. Likewise Supreme Commander and Oblivion.
  10. As you say, it's nice that someone has done a study with some actual grounding in reality rather than the normal lab crap. Still, I wonder how this is going to pan out.
  11. No, it's not that I don't think that Tibetans 'deserve freedom' if that's what they want, it's simply that I don't have a huge degree of sympathy for the situation the country has gotten itself into. I'll admit though that this is effected both by my lack of love for the Tibetan regime pre-china and my lack of love for single-issue hippies who pick up foreign causes without actually knowing anything about them. I would perfer that Tibet wasn't occupied by China however, it's simply a question of my own degree of actual caring in light of events. Fun fact! The PC game 'Hearts of Iron 2' a sort of global scale simulation of the WW2 period was banned in China because it showed Tibet as an independant country (despite the fact that this is historically accurate).
  12. I mirror this sentiment, and find that a lot of the people who sympathise with with the 'Free Tibet' plight actually know very little about either Tibet itself or the history that lead up to the current situation.
  13. Yeah, horror games arn't my cup of tea either, just as I don't like films that do the same. On the other hand, I DO enjoy films like Beowulf which was, by all accounts, pretty horrific, but not a horror film per-say. The same goes for games such as half-life.
  14. There should be a distinction between those who are predatory and those who are simply weak willed (and I
  15. I'm with you there, I had friends who loved the original Resident Evil games, but all I saw were crappy controls and a bad camera that 'forced' horror when combined with cheesy IT'S BEHIND YOU! moments. I only ever played the demo for FEAR, but that seemed to be going in the right direction in terms of scaring the crap out of you, by giving you perfect controls then springing something totally harmless but unexposed on you as soon as you lost a degree of that control (for example, on a ladder). Likewise there's nothing overtly frightening about the original Half-life, but early on in the game the oppressive atmosphere combined with not knowing what you're dealing with encouraged a more cautious approach to what was otherwise a run-and-gun game.
  16. It's a good point eh? Immoral is also keeping people on deaths row for 15 years.
  17. This thread needs to be renamed to 'Enter the 360'.
  18. Sure is, but in the end the peep is still voted guilty by a jury filled with humans as every bit as falluble as you know them to be. I'm not even arguing with you, you're right, but it isn't enough to convince me that every person who gets death actually deserved it, which in turn, leads me to be generally against the death penalty, no matter how much I might feel that cirtain people simply deserve to die.
  19. Life imprisonment is only appropriate when the point of it is as much to keep the public safe as to punish the individual (where death is deemed inappropriate for whatever reasons). If people can't be rehabilitated then I don't see much other option (though obviously, this doesn't have to mean life in high security for inmates who are, in theory, at high risk of re-offence but otherwise non-violent/non-predatory). Personally, i'm generally against the death penalty, but only because of the terrible 'oooops, we got the wrong guy' scenario. EDIT: also, yeah, i'm exclusively talking about adult pedophiles here. Canada, for example, as age of consent as low as 14, but only when between peers.
  20. get some friends, loser, Crackdown is the best coop i've played in a long time.
  21. erm, yeah, don't even bother without coop. Also, i've heard a lot of people say screw driving, but I really enjoy it, though, mostly when you get it to level 4 and the agent supercar morphes into the batmobile.
  22. Redheads are fine. but haha @ ginger.
  23. As Llyranor says, there's promise, but if we played every 'good' game that had acceptable PvP we'd still be playing CoD4 with Kor rather than Ikaruga and Crackdown.
