That's because the dirty little secret is that the democrats and the republicans play for the same team. They play for Team 1%.

I honestly have a hard time telling komodo dragons and other monitor lizards apart without something in the picture for scale.

I suddenly have a massive urge to rewatch Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess. I LOVED those shows back in the day and I'm quite confident I will still love them now. As an extra bonus, enough time has passed since I initially watched them that it will almost be like watching them for the first time. Almost. I imagine they're available on pretty much everything.

Apropos the purported higher memory 3080 and 3070 models, it all comes down to pricing for me. If the 20 GB model is $10 higher than the 10 GB, sure I'll pay the extra $10. If it's $100 more, I'll stick with 10 GB. All this is assuming that I go Team Green. Supposedly Big Navi is going to release at around the same time as Zen 3 Vermeer, and I'm waiting on the latter anyway, so I might as well check out what Lisa Su (I wonder what her kitchen looks like) has to offer as far as GPUs go before making a decision.

When the pandemic ends and people can gather in crowds again, if you're Jensen Huang why would you go back to announcing things at trade shows when you can just do it from your MAGNIFICENT kitchen and flex on the haterz?

More progress in La-Mulana 2. I revisited Icefire Treetop, an area I briefly reached before but didn't explore much because it's a VERY punishing area and because I didn't know magma wasn't insta-death (I knew Lumisa Kosugi was this tough, but damn). Turns out that magma works like frigid water, it's a DOT, it just drains your health much faster. With that discovery I reached a part of Icefire Treetop I had never been to before. Fast forward many, MANY deaths and I got the map for the area and the Life Sigil. Plus, I found a new mini-boss ,Vedfolnor (that I was ill prepared to fight and died to quickly). -
I'm curious if PCIe3.0 will bottleneck a 3090. If so, then the answer to your question is yes.

If a 3080 winds up being roughly 25% faster thsn a 2080 Ti (bonus points if it's even faster than that) then that should get me to the 4K ~100 FPS range that I'm targeting. I don't foresee Big Navi having a 3090 competitor, but hopefully AMD has something to compete with the 3080. In an ideal world a combination of competition and cyber week sales allows me to buy a 3080/AMD equivalent for $600 in less than 3 months. /crosses fingers & toes

Jensen has an amazing kitchen. 3080 and 3070 are cheaper than I expected, still ludicrously expensive, mind you, but less so than what I feared. I look forward to independent benchmarks.

In the screenies thread. At least let me see the parties y'all created. As an aside, does WL3 support custom portraits? -

Making good progress in La-Mulana 2. I defeated Badhbh Cath on my 4th try; it's was a pretty straightforward battle once I figured out how to manage the bats. After that I got the birth sigil. I've been going back through all the areas finding places that the sigil opens or activates. In the process I found a new entrance into the Immortal Battleground, which is a fairly tough area, and got my hands on the chain whip, which is an upgrade to the standard whip. -
She may well have bad breath, but I wouldn't say that to an Irish war goddess' face.

I've made quite a bit of progress since starting up La-Mulana 2 again. I got a new primary weapon, the rapier, a new secondary weapon, earth spear, the ability to run really fast uncontrollably, and a second ankh. I also reached a boss fight: Badhbh Cath. The fight has (at least) 2 stages. First you have tu o defeat Morrigan, Macha, and Nemain. Once the 3 are defeated, Badhbh Cath appears. I've tried 3 times so far and reached stage 2 once. The good news is that reaching this battle is fairly quick and easy, so that cuts down on the frustration factor. I need to get through stage 1 with as much health as possible. It's all about killing Morrigan as quickly as possible. Once she's out of the picture the amount of stuff coming at you constantly becomes manageable. -
The Mongoose Club crowdfunded a convention and all they got was this lousy ballpit.

If the rumored specs are real than the 3090 will definitely be faster than the 3080 just on the basis of ~1000 more CUDA cores. I agree that 24 GB of memory is overkill for gaming, though. Developers tend to optimize for the lowest common denominator and both xXxBOX Series xXx and PS5 have 16 GB of memory, but that's shared between CPU and GPU. 10 or 12 GB of VRAM should be plenty for the next 6 years or so. I'm sure there will be a game here or there that takes advantage of more, but, for the most part, you're going to get very diminishing returns for anything above 10 GB. Heck, 8 GB will probably be plenty for most people. 24 GB, in terms of gaming, will be useful for Bokishi running on a 16K monitor and not a lot of other people.
