Update #49 - Patch 1.1
IndiraLightfoot replied to Mikey Dowling's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Announcements & NewsI love this update! I've deliberately waited a bit in order to make the last half of my completionist PtoD playthru much more challenging.

CPU usage and temperature
IndiraLightfoot replied to Continuity's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)Regarding my PC, all my cores are used or more less evenly, but on my laptop, one core takes the brunt. Maybe that's it, for those getting bad overheating?

CPU usage and temperature
IndiraLightfoot replied to Continuity's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)I must add that I play it on my laptop as well, with no liquid cooling, but it's a newish one from last fall, with dedicated Nvidia graphics, and without liquid cooling, and I must admit, it does run pretty hot and it happens regularly.

CPU usage and temperature
IndiraLightfoot replied to Continuity's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)Liquid cooling? There's no way you're achieving those temps with a stock fan. But of course! I haven't gone without liquid cooling since 2010, I reckon. You have to keep your bits cool.

CPU usage and temperature
IndiraLightfoot replied to Continuity's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)I did board boats thrice in that period of time - without any weird spiking noted by my MSI afterburner. And I had 28-30 degrees Celsius days here, so hot? You bet!

Deadfire...in spaaaaaaaaace?
We've got lots of hints about the gods and their realms - these just neat to be inflated by x100 each, and add a few cool dimensions, and we have a winner, no?

CPU usage and temperature
IndiraLightfoot replied to Continuity's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)For what it's worth, I've measured all of my CPU cores and my GPU for like 10 hours playing Deadfire, on all sorts of maps in-game. Here are the averages and the spikes: -CPU 1 to 4: 37-45 degrees Celsius in average, worst spike in one CPU core 54 degrees -GPU: 40-47 in average, worst spike 56 degrees at one time. Nvidia+Intel, like 3 yrs old PC. EDIT: High settings on everything.

Share pictures of your Watcher!
IndiraLightfoot replied to algroth's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I don't know why, but I imagine your character behaving and talking like that Scoundrel in Diablo 3, if you ever touched that game.

Which sidekick would you most want to see become a full companion in a future Pillars game or DLC?
IndiraLightfoot replied to hamskii's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Fassina! I loved her!

Failure to create a sequel. An improved version.
IndiraLightfoot replied to gristlethick's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)^This! The only thing really outta whack is the difficulty and the combat system balance (a bit ironic, given how much criticism we reported during the beta). The other thing is that it's almost story lite - and the story itself is rather generic and not so super-engaging. Also, there's a dearth of real dungeons, as in meaty, extensive and utterly absurd (as in the ye olde D&D PnP tradition - with heaps of such scenarios and adventures over the years). Otherwise, PoE2 is a wonderful CRPG!

Parameter showing in combat/text log when our party lacks the lever - Pahowane
See this image: For some reason, the game displays the parameter/flag used in the script keeping track of this quest, which is a part of late game animancer quest:

Give us Steam Cloud Saves as an option, please
I'm alternating between computers on a regular basis, and it's a chore copying the save(s). In addition, Steam Cloud would act as a little backup just in case some save file gets corrupted.

Will this be the last of CRPGs WRTP now that Deadfire has flopped
IndiraLightfoot replied to hadiqa4444's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Then say "Steam top sellers list" and not "Steam Charts", since Steam Charts is a website that uses the same data mining technique that Steam Spy uses. Okay so Deadfire currently sits at 71 on the top sellers list. What does this tell us? How is this list compiled, in particular: over what period of time are sales counted over? Number 3 on that list is (as of me posting this) Just Cause 3 XL, a game from 2015 that is currently 85% off. The fact that this is placed so highly, together with the fact Deadfire jumps up and down so dramatically, strongly suggests the time scale for the list is short (past 24 hours?). If so the list doesn't say very much. In a few months time the first DLC for Deadfire will be released and Deadfire might go on a small sale (10% say) to promote it. If that happens and Deadfire jumps up to, say, 3rd place on the list would that suddenly make it a roaring success? Again we don't have any useful information on Deadfire sales, though I can safely say terms like "flop" don't apply (hint: not everything has to be either a break out best seller or a flop, there is space in between). Yeah. The measuring has a fast turnover rate, indeed. When launched, Deadfire was #1 on the topseller list, and #4 for several hours, and held nice positions for a few days. Still, I think the game did even better over at GoG.

Will this be the last of CRPGs WRTP now that Deadfire has flopped
IndiraLightfoot replied to hadiqa4444's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)How is saying the game is number 35 on steam a false assumption with no evidence? I'll use your own logic and point out that the basic version is number 5 and Obsidian edition (which costs over $80) number 25 in GOG so it must have sold millions and is now on it's way to being the most successful game ever. Being "number 35" on Steam tells us absolutely nothing. How many copies did it sell this week and how many overall to this date? Does your numbers take into account every place it is been sold or just Steam? Start with that and let's continue from there. This, and if we add the great investment and backer success over at Fig to this (like a humongous pre-ordering avalanche), it may be regarded and should be regarded as a huge success economically.

Character portrait: Is Bearn young Teddy Roosevelt?
IndiraLightfoot replied to RosingBull's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I'd say that this is more than a coincidence. The answer is a solid yes. Very cool find!

slow Saturday, time for another player review
IndiraLightfoot replied to Michael_Galt's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)PoE2 is really a great step up from PoE1, much of the pacing and tone is fantastic! A great achievement, but yeah the companions aren't meaty enough, and it's a bit hard to care for them. I do agree that the PoE1 companions were annoying for the most part. They had nothing on the MotB companions, for instance. I haven't finished the game yet (at 60+ h in my competionist playthrough), and they interrupt me about as often as in Dungeon Siege 2, and that game was rather light on the companion roleplaying. Oddly enough, Fassina in my party is not much less shallow than my companions (She had two quests linked to her, and a little NPC reactivity here and there). I also reckon that the game would benefit from a little more random encounters and scripted encounters when travelling (even between city districts). Well, the difficulty of the game is also off, obviously, but that will soon be rectified.

Eulogy for the Dead entrance bug
IndiraLightfoot replied to Defius's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)I rummaged through my saves, and luckiy I had one right before I opened the door, and after my thinking it was a bug and my revisit to the Berath temple. This meant that I could redo the quest just for you! You have to find the two stone tablets, but not only that! If you read my quest log below, you'll see that when I've right-clicked the stone tablets in my inventory (==having read them!), the game acknowledges this, and the quest is updated: Then you can make the female skellie to the right interactive, and via her dialogue: Hey presto, the huge door opens:

Eulogy for the Dead entrance bug
IndiraLightfoot replied to Defius's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)I had both tablets too, but the female skellie to the right refused to work. And after some searching down south, I realized that you have to activate her story, otherwise she won't accept the tablet. Embarassingly, as it was tens of hours of playtime ago, I don't recall the details - but I found something I had missed and read it. Then I went back to her skeleton with the tablet, and everything just worked fine (i.e., the door opened). Sorry that I don't have the specifics, but the stuff you need to do is there (and my best Perception in my party was 12).

The highly limited sprinkle of unique trainers, are they backer made?
If so, much obliged! I really liked that touch and how they are presented, especially If not, well, they are pretty great anyways. It's just that they feel a bit out of place.

Eulogy for the Dead entrance bug
IndiraLightfoot replied to Defius's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)@Magnukra: I thought that was a bug as well, but after having gone up to check all the NPCs and convos upstairs and then back in again, where I checked that catacomb level harder (there are lots of secret nooks and crannies - don't forget to read all books, scrolls, letters, and even tablets you find (don't just pick stuff up - this is at times a game for reading as well), then that skeleton worked just like it should.

Pallegina interjection after the Hasongo lighthouse doesn't make sense
In my game, I had been sailing around a bit in the north, and I had already been to Magran's Teeth with Pallegina, and she and my party had even killed fire giants, heck, even boarded their ships, still her interjection right after the Distant Light quest, outside the lighthouse on Hasongo goes something like: "According to legends, if they are true, there should be giants living at Magran's Teeth." The game needs to keep track whether Pallegina has been to Magran's Teeth and/or boarded fire giant ships.
