I play them from both NA and EU (well, actually the UK to be specific)...I could play them from Japan as well I suppose...but I don't actually read Kanji so that wouldn't help me that much. I'll have to check, but I think the PS3 doesn't care whether it's PAL or NTSC when you put in the disk.

MW you should definately look into the Chron series then. Absolutely. Run, not walk...to get it. And be aware...you can truly screw up your future...or your past...in the Chrono series...

Eternal Sonata is critically praised, but it takes a while to get into. Once that happens, stellar game. Never tried Katherine though, didn't know if it was really an RPG, a dating sim, or what it was...so just didn't get it.

I actually enjoyed DQ8, but I haven't enjoyed many of the other DQ games. I know many love them, especially in Japan...but I've never really gotten to fall in love with them like that. Enjoy Suikoden though. Radiata stories is also a nice game. For me another series I enjoy more than Suikoden, but still has a choices and consequences thing going on is the Chrono series. You can seriously get some unique end results with that series.

Suikoden II goes for crazy ridiculous prices still. Was it III or IV that had fan outcries however? One of those they didn't think fit the mold for Suikoden. I'm thinking it was IV. Tactics was another one of the Suikoden that had some fan outcry about it. Still a fan of Suikoden I however. It's the only PS1 game I actually paid to download onto my PS3 so I didn't have to put in a disk. Still have to play that version on the PS3 though. Disk version had some painful issues on the PS1 when I played it...though if you jumped through hoops it still worked. If they released Suikoden II on PSN I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.

Someone mentioned JRPG's in another thread...and having a great interest in them...probably went to crazy with listing some of my favorite ones...which can make quite a list. I imagine that if there are others...this could create quite the thread. So, to start things off... They wanted to list the seminal RPGs equivalent to Baldurs Gate series, Fallout, and Planescape Torment. I'd add others which would be the gold Box series. So, in that light.... The equivalent if not more so than the Gold Box series for me would be The Final Fantasy series. Specifically Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI. VI would be the crowning achievement (known as FF III in the US when it was released) of ALL Final Fantasy games. Pure awesomeness. Encapsulates everything one would want into an RPG. They've even released updated versions of these for other systems such as the Gameboy advanced (which plays on the Nintendo DS), the Playstation, and now are available via PSN for the PS3 I believe. The equivalent for the Baldurs Gate series would be Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and then I'd toss in IX simply because VI was already taken with the gold box games. Playstation was a good system among the pack of new CD driven consoles when it came out. It was Final Fantasy VII where I felt it suddenly shifted. I know many people who got a Playstation solely due to Final Fantasy VII. Hype build Hype, and before long everyone wanted to try Final Fantasy VII...and needed a Playstation to try it. The equivalent of the Fallout series... This is harder. I think historically, there isn't really an equivalent for the F/O series. Someone mentioned Phantasy Star...having played PS since the beginning (and the older ones are MUCH better then the MMO type ones that came out later) I'd disagree. Maybe impactually they are equivalent...but I'd say there aren't that many. Probably the closest I've seen JRPGs come to a fallout type game would be Nier. Then for Planescape Torment with it's mental and psychological ponderings...that would fall solidly into the Xeno series. Xenogears was it for a long time but Xenoblades has slowly taken and become part of that as well. They actually have some convoluted background, and possibly could be considered closest to the Fallout equivalent if we didn't use them already for the Planescape equivalent. I suppose one could argue that the Persona games fill the PS gap much better...but I was never really a fan of those. I'd also like to toss into JRPG's another category not looked at much, which would be the Musical RPGs. Ironic, but there are some of these. My favorites are some of these...they are the Lunar series. Great little games. One of my favorite series other then the Lunar series however was the Chrono series...aka...Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger. anyways, this gives us several branches of discussion we can pursue.

And here's some more if the Wii is your system of choice. Baten Kaitos (Wii is backwards compatible with Gamecube games...this is a gamecube game) Arc Rise Fantasia Tales of Graces Tales of Symphonia Phantom Brave Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Also one other note...for the last generation the best JRPG consoles have actually been the handhelds. Nintendo DS stands out among the others... Final Fantasy III was outstanding on it Nostalgia Radiant Histories Suikoden Golden Sun Etrian Odyssey series All on the DS...all awesome....

Are you serious?! I do admit, I fall into the FPS persons though...so you might not like my flavor of games. Many do not like my flavor in RPGs, I'm "too mainstream" from what I hear. With JRPG's though...I have a list. I ALSO include strategy JRPG's in the list. IF, you are not a graphics whore...then the following are what I'd suggest. Available on the PS1 Chrono Cross (first one I'd suggest) Lunar: Silver Star Complete Lunar: Eternal Blue Chrono Trigger Final Fantasy IV The above, though not great with graphics are what I'd consider the BEST of JRPGs ever...in my opinion. You can get FF IV and Chrono Trigger together in one collection. The PS1 was probably one of the best RPG systems out there. Others for it that are good... Final Fantasy VI Final Fantasy V YOu can get the above in one collection Vanguard Bandits Vagrant Story Xenogears (considered one of the greatest RPGs by some) Star Ocean: Second Story Grandia (one of MY favorites) Suikoden Suikoden II (also considered one of the best games ever) Legend of Dragoon Threads of Fate Wild Arms I and II Brigandine Arc the Lad collection Final Fantasy Tactics And don't forget what some consider the Seminal RPG for the orignal Playstation. I credit this single game for the success of the Playstation...it's this game that made it break out of the pack and is considered the holy grail of RPGs to this day...by some...NOT I. Final Fantasy VII Toss onto that Final Fantasy VIII Final Fantasy IX And you are set with hundreds if not thousands of hours of Roleplaying. The best news...even if you get these today they should play on a Playstation 3. However the graphics DO NOT HOLD UP if you are all about the graphics. For a LOT of RPG goodness in ONE CHEAP game...CREATED SPECIFICALLY TO PLAY ON THE PLAYSTATION 3 Get the Sonic Sega Collection. On it you will get Phantasy Star I, II, III, IV (IV was my FAVORITE RPG ever...until I played the Lunar series). Shining Force I and II Shining in the Darkness That's a LOT of JRPG's for a cheap little price now. Unfortunately, not many modern RPGs have come out for the current systems. For the Xbox 360 you can try... Blue Dragon Lost Odyssey Tales of Vesperia Eternal Sonata Star Ocean: The Last Hope The Last Remnant Resonance of Fate You might give Enchanted Arms A shot as well Truthfully, in my opinion, currently the Xbox 360 holds the reins of GOOD (stress the words Good...PS3 actually has MORE JRPGs...but many of them stink) JRPGs for the West this generation (Japan actually has a TON of RPGs that never make it out west). For the PS3 some decent ones would be Resonance of Fate Eternal Sonata White Knight Chronicles Valkyria Chronicles also Enchanted Arms One that has decent graphics in relation to what normal RPG's offer, but is different...and is WHAT i'D CONSIDER the most current game like a Fallout...at least in that type of post apocalyptal environment...would be Nier Crass language (maybe more than FO now that I think about one character), unforgiving, and brutal dying world all there. The following can be decent if you DON'T MIND the wierd Japanese type stereotypes... Agarest series Cross Edge Disgaea series Hope you got that entire stuff there. As you can tell for JRPG's my main system is the PS3. I also play my PS1 games on the PS3. They are the ONLY reason my PS3 does better with RPGs then the Xbox 360. For the question on what would be the equivalent... BG series = Final Fantasy VII, or VI, VII, VIII (much as I love IX, I think VIII which I don't love had more acclaim). Fallout = Nier Planescape = Xenogears/Xenosaga (PS2 game...so harder to play if you don't have a PS2 or specific type of PS3). That should give you a small start on the JRPG scene.

I play games when I travel. I DO NOT USE personal accounts on a hotel wireless. That's the perfect way to get a LOT stolen from you. Hence, wireless games requiring online with personal attached accounts is a no go. I even bring a console with me while I travel. Furthermore at home, I live with more than one person in the house. The all have internet usage that they utilize. I game offline a lot, especially when not on the internet. Normally I'm reading news, or on a forum, or something else when connected. So, yes, constant online can be a deal breaker for me. I'll play casual games that I can switch back and forth from a text to the game, or from what I'm reading on a PC to a game when I'm actually online, or if I play MP...but for an SP game...if it's not casual and short...it's probably going to be played on an offline machine when others are online and not I. There's a lot of other items that Diablo 3 has against it, but the constant online could be one of the straws that broke the camel's back.

So it was the average BW experience? This was my first BioWare experience where I came away wondering if the writers were on acid when they came up with that ending. Actually...yes...yes they were. Well...the two that worked on the ending...the others weren't, but they didn't get asked to write the ending either.... (Just so you know, the above is a joke)

No. Alien Ressurrection actually was decent. No Aliens, but LUCKILY no alien 3. Alien 3 was the fiasco...not only did it have an ending no one liked, but it even one ups ME 3 in that it completely invalidated the actions of everything that happened in Alien and Aliens! Luckily, even if you watch all 3 movies to Alien 3...it only takes 6 hours as opposed to dozens up dozens ME takes. Ressurrection if anything...attempted to redeem the series from Alien 3's fubar. The biggest fiasco about Ressurrection was that in many people's eye's it failed at redeeming the series from Alien 3's fiasco...though it was a far better movie overall than Alien 3 even dreamed of being as far as Alien movies are concerned.

Well, since everyone else is getting into it.... BG2 > ME2 > KoToR > IWD > KoTOR 2 > BG > DA:O > ME1 > AP > Jade Empire > ME 3 > NWN (Campaign) (MP or D/l'd Modules was better then all of these combined!!!) > DS III > DA2 > Sonic RPG > FFXIII Had to go a little overboard since everyone is on the hit list of doing this... PS: My opinion on the above list will change by tomorrow most likely, probably have AP move up or down along with DSIII move up or down the list...and maybe DA:O move up or down the list along with ME1. BG2, ME2, and FFXIII are pretty solid in their locations though.
-
Expected from Volourn. My take is...AP was GREAT. I'm not certain that would have been the best route for ME3 though.

You never knew that it existed...and now you never will. What's the point of cancelling an unannounced project? Is there some sort of internal struggle going on at the business that this is going to give leverage to one or another party? http://www.gamespot.com/news/gears-of-war-exile-cancelled-6370520

That's how the Reaper's should have come to Tuchunka! "Join us, we will cure you of the genophage...and anything else...forever!!!" Forget indoctrination, the Krogan would have been begging to join the Reapers!!!!

Ironic, the stuff the advertise takes up maybe .05% of the gametime you actually spend playing. Minimal time with the pictures and such...whereas the actual gameplay and strategy (battles) is where 98% (a majority) or your time...or at least my time...is spent. It's amazing just how massive this game is in relation to many other flashier games there are. Timewise it's going to take me forever in relation to other games. For example, I could probalby finish the entire ME series...maybe twice...in the time it takes me to just finish the first Agarest game!!!
-
I could give two $%!#'s about MP DLC. In fact, bad as it is, I hope almost no one gets it. It's a blatant slap in the face. Sure it's free...I'm thinking most everyone is actually wondering...where's the end?
-
Wow...after people posted about googling, I googled myself to see what was up about that. I had no idea that's how they marketed the game!!! I originally heard about the game through the grapevine and got it because it sounded like a pretty cool strategy game, but with ideas from Phantasy Star III (you have several generations, each one depending on who you choose as the lucky couple from the previous generation).
-
Well, finished my next playthrough of ME3. I played through the entire ME series again with ME3 finale. Renegade Femshep. ME3 losing much of it's luster, even more on this playthrough. Done with it for a while. Started up with Record of Agarest War. Plan on playing it (it's a VERY VERY VERY looooooong game in comparison to any of the ME games), and then Agarest Zero. In spare time I plan on playing Star Ocean or some other RPG. However, plan is to finish the first two Agarest games in order to play Agarest 2 when it comes out in a few months.

Not a specialist, but didn't that happen in the fourth movie? At one point when they're getting up a ladder atop the exit of a flooded tunnel? I was corrected, Hicks did shoot some aliens with a Shotgun. In the 4th movie, which I think happens several hundred years later, the guy with the double pistols shoots an alien with them and kills it. It is several centuries later in tech though.

Something to be aware. IF Bioware/EA released an addtional ending like some want...for example the Indoctrination Theory ending...they may be (and people have already threatened) sued for giving out an imcomplete product where it was already promised to be a complete product. This could put them in a sticky situation, even if they wanted to release a "real end." IN some nation by doing this, and saying they didn't actually give a complete game, it was instead a bait and switch...even if the DLC is free (since Xbox has to have their connection paid for and others have to pay for internet..etc...etc...etc.) it can create more headache and problems than even fans dropping EA and not buying Bio's next game. A much better idea is to do what they are saying...the ending is the real ending...but they will add additional scenes and clarification. Who knows what that clarification and additional scenes will be...but be whatever, EVEN if they add a substantial portion that redefines the ending...the ending will not change because it is complete as is the game. I think making it free, they are doing about as much as they can out of an already sticky situation.

You can kill aliens with a pistol or a shotgun??? I don't think so.... Where's the swarming and the dragging people away...it looks like in the game the aliens just bite them in the skull and that's the end... Looks like it may be a fun game, but the ad didn't instill in me any feel akin to aliens or alien.

I really have no interest in nude mods. I imagine the mother of them all early on wasn't Doom though, it was Duke Nukem. I think i actually heard articles about that one long ago. I think including gratuitious sex or violence in games really doesn't add much normally. In fact sometimes it makes them laughably silly (like DA2 where you hit them in the arm and they explode in a flashbang of blood...or at least some sort of red liquid).

I go to the link and see 4 files...which is the save editor, and how do you use it?
