  1. I tried to save numerous times during the London part and couldn't. Even in the area where you have the final talk with your squad. I assumed it was BioWare being silly in its design decisions, but maybe it was a bug? No...I don't think it was. After hitting the beam up...it doesn't allow you to save at all.
  2. Started the entire ME series over...with ME1. Plan to go through all of them...
  3. I saved during the Hammer. Right when doing the Thanix missiles actually. Makes it shorter to go back and redo the endings.
  4. In answer to another misnomer I don't like the endings, but I don't think they are as crazy as people are insisting. I think there is sense behind them, people just dislike them enough that they'll say anything or ignore anything in order to display their dislike. I think it's simpler just to say, I'd like endings that are more impacted by what I actually did in the game and choices that I make.
  5. Actually, it is impossible to get an EMS of 5500 without MP. I don't know what you people are talking about. My green bar was almost filled completely, despite being stuck with 50% War readiness. I believe green bar only shows that your effective level is around 2800...not 5500.
  6. Good ending has more...
  7. I'm not sure what's been up with the PC versions of ME2 and 3. They are clear console ports but they've just randomly chosen to remove pad support from them (not so random though, apparently the games-for-windows-xbox-pad-license thing is a percentage of the profit). On a personal level I consider this obstinate refusal to give players options (which they did partially do away with, since the helmet toggle is in) to be Bios biggest design philosophy issue in comparison to, say, Eidos Montreal. Not as big a deal for me. I couldn't get ME1 or ME2 to work with my normal gamepads anyways. I downloaded a program instead which let me correspond keys on the keyboard to my gamepad and played both games that way via the PC...or I just used the keyboard, depending on my mood (program had to be started everytime I played to use the gamepad and sometimes just didn't start up the program).
  8. I was once a huge fan of the Diablo series. Was even once ranked on the ladders. With the announcement of it being online only, and basically very similar to an MMO in my opinion...my interest started waning until now, unless it comes to consoles and on the consoles doesn't have the stupid...always have to be on the internet BS...I'm not interested in it anymore. Blizzard can take their bags and pack it for all I care...in their catering to the online crowd and ignoring the online/offline crowd and also fans of their series for years...well...I'll continue with Diablo II, but I've lost all interest (for the most part) in Diablo III.
  9. If it weren't for the gosh darn awful bad journal...and the terrible endings....and that ME2 would have been last decade as well as most other great games such as the original ME...I'd put it for game of the decade (thus far). AS it is, with that terrible journal and the way the endings go...it is merely really good. PS: Anyone who finished...do you get that KotOR 2 jive from the ending...as in a similar feel of great game...but you might prefer that it had a ending or different type of ending?
  10. How the heck did you do that without MP? I did every friggen quest including the DLC and still didn't get close to 5000, and with mostly what I thought were the best choice (such as Geth/Quarian combo...etc). Actually, I had more than 7000 in War Assets, but because in SP it reduces it by 50% so that you get Effective at half of that...my effective was only half of my War Assets...which is what stinks in the way they handled MP vs. SP.
  11. I actually am one of the few that actually thinks the endings make sense. However...I still think they are friggen stupid and dislike them. As for Volourn saying anyone claiming that the "best" ending can be reached in SP and anyone claiming it can't must be lying...I haven't seen anyone that truly did only SP and got the "best" ending as it was. The "Best" I think one can really get is to the three ending choices without the 15 seconds extra. No WAY you can get 5000 points I'm thinking...but that IS my opinion...not fact. I just know I did everything...and that means uniting certain groups (unnamed so no spoiler tag)and other things...and got NO "best ending" on my SP playthrough. I got all the choices though...just not that extra 15 seconds on my SP only game. Still, I want Bio to redo those endings...give it something that makes all those choices I made through the three games have a little bit more impact. I played it on PS3, and I played it on PC. I went through the trouble of going through Origin...learning how to bypass Origin (self-done and no I didn't share it online) simply so it didn't crash on me due to the stupid way EA has Origin meshing with ME3 (EA should hire me as a consultant...I'd fix half their bugs as a one man team instead of their group thought...then again...with cutting out the integration of Origin and ME3...that probably defeats their purpose of forcing everyone online to game MP and being able to monitor everything you do ingame)...as well as figuring how to bring my character from ME1 and ME2 (female version on the PC) through to ME3...headache after headache...and for THOSE endings. Call me disappointed slightly...well maybe more than slightly.
  12. In theory, yes. But you'll have to do every little thing you come across to get your war points up. I did that, inclusive of DLC...every friggen thing. Got all the good things overall...and didn't get the "best" ending (the extra 15 seconds or so) with my SP playthrough. Then again, it's only 15 seconds and doesn't really change much at all. Just enjoy the game and give up on any good ending that you might desire...it doesn't exist.
  13. Do war assets carry over in NG+? If not, the only option for anyone not touching MP to gain enough war assets for the "best" ending is editing coalesced.bin or a save editor. Well, a heads up after going back and doing a lot of stuff. There is no "best" ending in comparison. Not that I've found. People said there was, but really...not really. There is one which has an extra 15 second (approximated) clip in it...it hints at something...but overall...not better at all. Just remember, if you actually have done what is necessary for that extra 15 seconds...you don't want to pick what BW considers the "best" ending (synthesis), you want to go with what they'd consider the worst ending. Except for the 15 seconds you can get that ending with just about any amount of war assets I believe.
  14. Though from a while back.... Greylord still ruled! Soooo, did everyone in the original party basically die along the way? Can't recall if Nepenthe was with us all at the beginning or not? I suppose I could go back and check.
  15. Either the kid is symbolic, and in your mind as some thought already (and what I'm leaning towards after the end), or something all screwed up is going on I think.
  16. I'm one of those that actually think the endings make sense. First, normally everyone dies. Just beating this is a victory for Shep. This isn't just one Reaper...this is the entire fleet of them...so just making sure enough survive to continue on is a massive victory. Shep does more than that...so him dying in accomplishing that isn't a big plot hole to me. Depressing and unhappy...yes...but unexpected or a plot hole...not really. On Synthesis
  17. Okay, played and beat the game. Took me 38 hours to do EVERYTHING. If you do everything, you probably won't get a score of 4000. I had a score of around 7000 without multiplayer...and that's with every quest done and completed...at least that I know of and found. I suppose if there are some mysterious "perfect" choices to make, then perhaps you might be able to get 1000 more (hmm, not certain how that could be though). Basically, to get over that 50% galactic readiness which reduces your effective readiness/war assets to half of what you get (hence I had around 3500 effective readiness) you HAVE to play multiplayer. Not so fond of that. I'm NOT fond of that. I actually enjoyed ME2 more than ME3...though I suppose all the ME1 fanbois will be pleased with ME3. ME2 seemed a little more heroic and a little more fun. Also, except for the music which they stole and reused from ME1 (which still has the best music of the series) ME3 probably had some of the worst music...which is ironic. It's main theme tries to make you feel sad...but to tell the truth I was so sick of that theme by the endings that I was more disgusted when listening to it than anything else. It doesn't have the durability for my ears as the ME1 main intro screen them or the ME1 main theme...or even the ME2 main themes. ME3 seems to make you feel less of a hero than the other two. That's what I think is missing from ME3 is that "I feel like a hero" factor. Other than that it's a great game. More in depth with characters...though in their attempt to gather everyone from both prior games in some way...they spread them out even further than originally (now you have to go hunting them over the Citadel and other locations!). I WILL say, this game is far better than DA2 in every way. Still a great game. Better overall quests than ME1, and more varied environments than ME1, but ME1 had a better and a stronger story with more in depth characters overall. ME2 had a better quest system and better feel overall. Still, ME3 is probably better than most games that are coming out. ME3 just forgot that it could have happy quests at parts and was just depressing through most of it. I think that's what the biggest problem I had with the game, but if you like depressing...than you should run...as fast as you can...to get this game if you don't have it already (though in the depressing market, NIER actually beats ME3 out by a mile...so I'll at least admit that). Just some initial thoughts after doing my playthroughs. As an aside, many of the quests I did simply by wandering around and listening through the citadel. You only really need to do that twice, if you are thorough enough you'll get all the quests in the first half, and then later in the second half by listening to people. I also gathered everything in the systems, and if you do that you'll basically be able to go back to the Citadel and give people their stuff. Biggest gripe I think I have though is that basically to get to a certain point...you really DO have to play Multiplayer. It's basically a cheat (like entering a cheat code) to play multiplayer for a few hours, raise your readiness score, and then you don't even have to do all the sidequests and you still can get a pretty nice ending... I think that was a down dirty shame on bio's part...but hey, it's their game and they can do what they want to...I was just along for the ride.
  18. He is not necessary, but he definately fills out the game in some ways. I'd say whether he's a must have or not depends on your definition of must have. If you considered Shadow-Broker and Arrival as Must haves for ME2, then he's a must have. If you didn't, he's not. I think those would be somewhat comparable in what they added to ME2 in comparison to what the DLC adds to ME3. On the entire downgrading the game, I don't think it's as much about sexuality as it is about a furor over th ending. Two things about the ending, first, the entire, you have to play MP or if you play MP the game actually get's easier for SP....AND the fact that for many the endings...all of them found thus far...seem to stink to people.
  19. I am. Several sections are in the game where you can use your stealth to sneak through and/or decrease the number of enemies, so that's useful. I'm also loving my sniper rifle...I'm the mail slot king!
  20. No kidding... I'm trying to figure out the Hanar quest on Citadel and have gotten to a certain point and can go no further... That said, I kinda figured that the "Side quests can be time sensative" was in effect. Thus why I did the school sidequest before doing the "Diplomatic Summit" main quest. I learned this during MP. I rather like it. During MP it's meh. Most of the time you and your partners can knock out the Engineers and turrets fast enough they aren't an issue. But in SINGLE, you're sitting here with a turret blasting at you, the engineer is making a second one, your allies seem to be shooting butterflies, and an Atlas is trying to turn your face into shrapnel. It doesn't turn out well (the school pissed me right off with spawning three engines, two shield Cerberus, a few centurions and having an atlas doing sniping from the other side of the place)
  21. Playing ME3 in about 60 seconds, just after I close this window and boot up the game.
  22. Depending on how good this game is or not, I may not be anywhere close to the forums for the next little while.
  23. I started up the original Mass Effect again on the PC. Couldn't get it to actually run this time...peeved me off. So I had to do the make it do a disk check instead trick that was suggested on the internet...have no idea why it didn't want to work this time around...though when I tried to trouble shoot it sent me to EA's website...but not authentication...origin. If they screwed up the game somehow (though more likely I screwed it up with a RAM upgrade or something) I'll be a wee bit upset.
  24. WOW!!!! Now that stinks. That's a huge blow in many ways. I wonder what the sides of both sides are and why they couldn't reach an agreement. That's pretty short notice to gamers. The game comes out in less then a week!
  25. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-02-28-bioware-discusses-potential-mass-effect-mmo Well, I wasn't that impressed with MP...I might love ME...but I play it for the SP experience...don't think they'll get me with an ME MMO. Then again, I loved KotOR and I didn't get TOR either. MMO's just aren't my thing. Free to play MP, such as in CoD type games...yeah, I'll play those...but that's far different than something you pay for and are bored out of your skull with when you do an MMO (well, which normally bore ME to death...I know many of you are really enjoying ToR from the thread posted in these forums).
