Our hometown Seattle Sounders became the first MLS team to win the CCL Championship, beating Liga MX side Pumas UNAM with a 5-2 aggregate. In so doing they set a CCL attendance record with 68,741 in attendance at Lumen field. I know it's not much by European standards, but it's still something for us. It's also an indication that the MLS team salaries are becoming competitive with the Liga MX teams, at least compared to where they were ten years ago. It should be interesting to see how well the revamped Leagues Cup goes in 2023. Leagues Cup

It's in Russia's interest to separate the US from the other members of NATO, so there is probably an element of psyops in the communications. -

The issue with abortion will probably always be contentious because both sides make valid points. To me it's a technological problem; abortion couldn't happen without the use of tools. I'm hoping that some day it will have a technological solution, although what form that will take I'm not sure. A system to hold a fetus in stasis prior to implanting in a willing mother? Microbots to block sperm entry into the egg? Perhaps we should have a program to study the possibilities?

Finished Persephone Station by Stina Leight. It was mostly okay; a space opera with an LGBTQ+ cast. Checked most of the usual SJW boxes. Still kind of weird getting used to a character using a 'them' pronoun. The most relatable character was actually the cyborg. They do seem to have some good drafts... then go on the field, trip, and fall on their face. Their last playoff appearance was 2010.

The first round had the lowest TV viewership rating since 2016. The main reason being that eight teams had traded away their first round picks, and most of those were in large markets. I only glanced at a team fan web site a few times and didn't bother watching the TV show.
