  1. Here is a 30 min video which very eloquently states the reasons and how T.E.S. franchise was dumbed down. Even though PoE is an exclusively PC game and the target audience is different, I wonder at what degree PoE will try to avoid the 7 points the author underlines in the video and those are: 1. you can't fail 2. no consequences for faction membership 3. you make little impact on the world 4. quest and journal system 5. NPC conversations are heavily reduced 6. massively simplified puzzles 7. the value of items have been reduced Even thought point 5 I guess will not be an issue for PoE, I recommend watching the video to understand the pitfalls a RPG nowadays faces and implicitly Pillars of Eternity too.
  2. I've slayed some lions and even blood pored from them, there was none on the ground. I hope this will be implemented and the blood from slayed opponents will be persistent on the ground, even after the bodies magically disappear. The lacking blood on the ground feels weird and makes combat less visceral. Blood and gore galore!
  3. Yes. I often play with headphones and pause to do things like roll a cigarette, make tea, etc.--during which activities I often take off the headphones. So at those times the sound doesn't help; the movement is subtle enough to miss at a quick glance, especially if you have bad eye sight. But "GAME PAUSED" draws your eye. Making games for the lowest common denominator and catering to every whim? Yes please! I say to make the "game paused" message in bright neon lights that pulses to the tune of Pitbull's latest hit. What? BG had just some gears that stopped moving when the game was paused? Frack that! What did those bozos knew about proper game design back in the late nighties?
  4. Will this game reward me in any meaningful way is I play it on increased difficulty? (note that I said meaningful, so achievements are out of the question)
  5. C.) The Developers the same developers that nerfed the engagement system after the same "obsessed"TM guy showed them that is gamebreaking and easily abused? because I am at a point where I think the current engagement system in its present form would have made the release. The same developers that proudly played their game for a few days just before this fiasco, identifying some problems&tweaks but failing to see this obnoxious abusable system?
  6. These are some sweet drawings! I might give it a try also and time myself while doing it
  7. For all who don't have access to the beta: who do you trust more on the issue of the engagement system? a guy who obsessivly dismantles the game to the pixel, finds obscure bugs because of his attention to detail, who's first RPG was Baldurs Gate, has hours upon hours of footage and many more hours of gametime invested in the beta or an arrogant involuntary troll spewing half-truths and who blatantly tells us that the aforementioned PoE beta obsessed guy is the only one that thinks that engagement system is broken and the only one bitchin' about it.
  8. I still think they don't have enough time to ship a proper polished game at this stage. The game needs to be delayed further.
  9. the proof that after 4982 posts one can still have zero insight and talk out of his bottom.
  10. I cant wait for them to implement the promised changes to the engagement system so that Sensuki can abuse and exploit the system once more and forevermore 'till the end of time.
  11. This is PoE art from the latest update. This artwork will appear shrunk with lots of details lost or this will appear in this size or bigger in the item description window?
  12. I've always liked the games that renders items in minute detail. And all these details are lost if also the items are not big.
  13. I liked your post, as many others, to spread the msg. Following discussion in this thread, I'd like to point out that the final KS Stretch Goal was to generally enhance the game. I thought that requests like theone we have here fall under that stretch goal. I doubt that adding 2D pencil drawings was thought of when they said to enhance the game even more. More like 3D effects & stuff. Characters models still blend in the grass though. The consensus is clear and overwhelming regarding the subject of 2D pencil drawing for items.
  14. The single item that stayed with me all these years was the Gorgon Plate. Not because it was a legendary or powerful armour because it was not, but because of it's drawing. It's stats were long forgotten, but its design was not. That's what I want from Pillars
  15. I can't afford to be an optimist at this point in development with a few more months until shipping. And as someone already said, I would rather hope they put their resources in making pencil drawn items 2D art instead of trying to salvage a flawed mechanic. Making combat feel static and not being able to adapt to new situations or making a tactical retreat without major penalties is not my idea of good design.
  16. NPCs should drop the items they're using but should be cheap enough (e.g. destroyed status) on the market that the player would not bother with the effort to gather them all and exploit this for an easy income. And if a masochist player would choose to sell them all, there should be a diminishing return in regards to selling if he floods the market of a certain item. On very rare occasion an item would drop unscathed for the player to have an incentive to check out the loot. Special magical or unique items/weapon/armor would always drop intact from special NPCs but they should be pretty rare in the game world.
  17. I actually watched the entire 45 min video and there are some good suggestions. The round icons for doors can be modded out also?
  18. There are 2 concepts in gaming. Shroud of war and fog of war. There are 2 distinctive concepts. One is completely opaque, the other lets you see already explored map features but not NPCs, enemies etc.
  19. Not a word about the volume of footsteps? And those door interaction icons and such gives the game the flair of a sh!tty browser game. I can't stand them.
  20. How about WASD to be the default and you rebind them if you wish to use other keys? For someone who made a case about the "ergonomic" aspect of the game with its awkward positioning of the combat log (because the majority read from left to right), moving the camera with other keys than WASD or mouse does not feel wrong to you?
  21. That inventory design was a total clusterfrack and in a good part because of the crafting ingredients and lack of in depth filters and the possibility to craft anywhere. I literally spent nearly 20% of total game time sorting and searching sh!ts. If PoE will have the same moronic UI and handle crafting the same way, I will not touch this game not even with a 10 yard pole because I am too old for this frivolous design nonsense. This game needs designated crafting UI/inventory
  22. How dare you?? Fixed that for you. It will always amaze me how the majority was butthurt about weapon durabylity but its utterly lax to the 8 slots/character inventory.
  23. Not everyone native language here is English, so I do not think reading is faster
  24. A video only would be ideal because few people would not be intimidated by a text wall. In a video you could make a montage of visual examples from other games. The only problem would be the high cost of the narrator you will have to hire.
