I have to wait an entire sixty two minutes for the beta! Cancel Christmas! My entire year is now null and void! Thanks a lot, Obsidian!

Backer Beta: Coming August 18th

So I'm assuming 3:30pm then, because this place is gonna be Black Friday. -
So, 3:30pm then based on server load.

Backer Beta: Coming August 18th
Bryy replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
With a regular publisher - yes, without a doubt. But with an indie dev like Obsidian I had the apparently foolish illusion they'd actually care enough o think about things like that and release the beta at, say, 8 am local time, so people in other parts of the world would have a chance to play at the stated date as well. But now that I know I'll add another day to any future date they post, just to be sure not to be disappointed again. The obvious answer is Obsidian hates non-Americans. -
In the other thread, Badler said 2pm.

It's always tomorrow for somebody somewhere. Good luck surviving in the real world. Seriously. Blaming people for the time zones. -

You make it sound like Obsidian is one dude eating Cheetos. -
*eye roll* So you don't prefer the communication? You would rather be left wondering? No. The eye roll was to you giving a bunch of strangers an "I told you so".
-
So, you're okay with fundraising as long as you don't have to pay too much to get the incentives to pay more. That's some super logic.

BETA LIVESTREAM INFO/COMPILATION: Bro, do you even Livestream?
Bryy replied to Bryy's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
While I like your idea, lets not. I would prefer if we just keep it to this forum because the people that care the most are in fact posting here. Don't ever get into advertising, Karkarov. I'm posting my URL on the GAF thread, that's it.- 113 replies

Yup, this was totally unexpected. Nobody could have forseen technical difficulties on a highly expected day. Tre shock. It's all the publishers fault. -
... what?

Yes, and tomorrow is set to break Twitch.tv with the amount of streams. I plan on hopping on someone else's or watching a replay directly after mine (which I plan on being multiple hours).

Dragon Age: Inquisition vs. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I'm not saying you can't use your own money for whatever you want. I'm saying that condemning a specific company for a practice everyone else does, especially if you admit to being a victim of it, is ridiculous.- 256 replies

32. Hm. Fueled by ice cream, popsicles, livefeeds from Ferguson, and an insanely comfy monkey suit. I think I might stay up another hour. Welp. Pillars tomorrow for my birthday. It'll be like a party. A party full of people I don't know at all.

Guess the release date!

I'm totally ashamed of everyone that wrote any date past January. -
Dragon Age: Inquisition vs. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Bryy replied to ktchong's topic in Computer and Console
It does not matter. For me, DLCs - especially "plug-in" DLCs - have always been an all-or-nothing proposition. The "nothing" means I would not even bother with the main game. If I play a game, I want the "full" experience. In the past, I have always been able to enjoy the full experience with all the DLCs, with minimal hassle and reasonable expenses. Then BioWare came up with its current business model to use DLCs to squeeze and exploit customers. BioWare and their fans tell me, "well, you do not have to get all the DLCs." Well, I am not going to change my gaming preference just for BioWare. If BioWare does not provide that experience without exploitation, I as a customer can take my money elsewhere, and I do. There are plenty of other great RPG developers out there who can give me the full experience without enforcing an exploitative business model on me or or forcing me to compromise my gaming preference. I don't understand. You buy all the DLC to get the "full game". But somehow, BioWare DLC is exploitative? You're being exploited just by being the type of gamer that needs all the DLC. Companies are exploiting the completionist in you.- 256 replies

When I said BioWare products are integrated/tied into their business models, I meant that if a customer wanted to fully utilize a recent BioWare product, he would have to download and install EA Origin to activate the product, buy more BioWare Points than he would need, and then use those Points to buy DLCs at full prices. BioWare products are tied to EA Origin, BioWare Points, and DLCs, which are very specific to EA-BioWare. While I understand and sorta respect not wating to download hundreds of clients, what DLC do you need that is essential to the main game?- 256 replies
