Thank you again Farudan for the concept, and for the many who have assured its success. What started as a fun idea late one evening (in Australia at least) has grown in a way I most certainly did not expect. From an initial number of less than 20 we now have several score more. I have donated an extra $8 above my membership not just to follow in the footsteps of the esteemed Lord Crash in honouring dlux, but as a token of my thanks to all the people who have dedicated their time to help ensure the success of the Obsidian Order of Eternity. Hail to all members! P.S: I can't believe we are up to Part 5! *edits to correct poor english I hope **edit 2 to add the P.S bit

I voted for mainly because I am in the "10,000 hours to skill mastery" camp. I prefer a system that rewards XP for completing the objective, and skill points for the skills you use along the way. Yes I am inferring that XP doesn't have to be the only means to improve ones skills. This allows the PC to develop as skills that are practiced. XP then becomes a mechanism to improve your non-skill stats. Food for thought.

Thoughts about the Endless Paths
Paul D replied to Talwyn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
A great idea IMHO. Other ideas I have seen on the comments thread: . If the setting is steampunk'ish have a railway station between the two mega cities, with the Endless Paths as a station. . Have a snakes / ladders mechanic (fast to the bottom/top) - ok this was a suggestion of mine but combined with your idea that the lower you go the harder it is could make a young adventure party not want to get off the lift on level -13 . Have one of the levels underwater ... That would be a challenge to explore . Have one floor modelled on Escher's Endless Stair case and the only way to escape is to use your soul - ok another of mine - but I always loved Escher and if you could have a level you can't escape unless you solve a puzzle or use your soul for something could make it interesting. I am sure there were others, let the ideas flow *edited to fix emoticon -
Hear hear I agree entirely, dlux selflessly donated effort far and above many to help the Order and should be our honorary member until Eternity! Alongside LordCrash it is my honour to increase my pledge by a further $8 in honour of dlux and to thank those who have agreed to carry forward dlux's tasks on behalf of the Order. dlux you will be missed, but not forgotten.

Big City #2- 3.5mil. stretch goal
Paul D replied to nerevar's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Part of the fun with the big cities will be seeing how much of it you can remember after a few hours of play; always amazes me. Unless I play while drinking a nice Shiraz; at which point I remember very little -
With the unfortunate loss of my real life chicken flock to foxes I would like to change my title to: Obsidian Order Seeker of Balance .... Was thinking "Vengeful tracker" but it wasn't the foxes fault, they were simply hungry. If my change in title is accepted by the order I will change it forthwith.

Let's name this game.
Paul D replied to Monte Carlo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm certain the developers have their list, but for a bit of fun how about this (for a trilogy): Eternity: Fractured Soul Eternity: Redemption Eternity: Enlightment -
Music has the ability to help set the scene, to place the "minds eye" into the environment. A good musical score allows the game to interact with more than one sense, increasing the potential for immersion into the narrative. Thank you for sharing the pieces; they helped draw a picture in my mind of the possible Project Eternity universe; epic & peaceful, but tension is building as something is coming. If these pieces are an indicator what we can look forward to in the final product, happy days!

It is great to see so many backers willing to find that extra $8, show their support for P:E and join the Obsidian Order. May your titles be as varied as the membership, May your comments be as witty and pithy as, well, a witty and pithy comment, May you enjoy your time as a member of the Obsidian Order.

Map Notes
Paul D replied to cealicu_ca's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I quite like the idea of map annotation as long as it is accompanied by an ability to search through the notes -
I realize that many of my ideas may not be made, but I spent a lot of time compiling and shaping them. It was great to see them written and think that someone in Obsidian have read the post. I'm content with that. And thank you by all your comments. I apreciate them. I`ll keep in mind the expense though. I agree, great ideas, and if Project Eternity's universe was to model the real world at the moment you could probably borrow money at a near zero interest from some country, hire in labour from another country with 25% unemployment paying them next to nothing for privilege of building your house, and have plenty of your next to zero interest rate cash left over to throw one hell of a house warming party, inviting your thousands of Obsidian buddies over.

Any RPG has its fair share of quests. Themes include: . Progresing the main story line; . Increasing your status in a guild; . Helping an NPC find something they've lost; . Killing on contract; . etc What sort of quests are you looking for in Project Eternity? Would you like to play soul quests, ones that take place in the ethereal realm with your soul and a projection of your physical self, or a projection of whatever was occupying your PC's mind? Personally I prefer quests that make me think. Ones that put my character in a position where the choice I make changes the evolution of the story. Soul quests also intrigue me because in the ethereal realm physical strength is less relevant. Soul quests may provide an opporunity to engage with the god-like (or gods even) in Project Eternity.

The Chosen One
Paul D replied to TrashMan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
A large part being the PC is driven by a carbon based life-form rather than bits/bytes/electrons and thus is inherently chosen If PE allows a person to create multiple PC's for the party, the chosen one dynamic if present would be interesting.
