  1. that's good, this way i can keep track for how long i've been a member here because i suck at remembering dates and by extend knowing how much time has passed since something. as for that thing with the dead i don't know for sure if it's a religious thing or just a custom. the thing goes like this after someone dies you call the funeral service. they prepare the body, dress it in clothes of your or "it's" choosing, put it in the coffin with all the necessary decorations and a picture of a saint with the same name as the departed and then bring it to it's home for the night. usually the family will stay awake all night and in the morning the rest of the friends and relatives will come. the custom is to kiss the dead on the forehead as a last goodbye and when everyone is assembled they take the coffin to the church for the last rites and then to the cemetery where the priest will say some last words, will place some soil in the coffin and then the people of the funeral service will close it and bury it
  2. here's what i deduce from what i've read/heard so far. polaris will be the R7/9-4xx cards and the vega chip later this year will be used for the successor of the Fury X rumor has it that the specs of the card AMD used for a presentation that was running the new Hitman game at 4k-60fps-max settings are 800MHz core and 8GB GDDR5 with passive cooling and is a prototype for the 470 (the final model is supposed to have higher specs) also from what i know so far, nVidia has problems implementing AC so if they can't find a solution they will have to brute force the performance by making bigger, faster and more expensive chips with higher power requirements.
  3. in other news, i went to a funeral today. i have noticed a pattern in all funerals i've been: the family members don't look that sad (or at least don't show it) while the coffin is still in the house (the custom here is that the dead spend the last night in their house and are buried in the morning) but they start to slowly crack as the coffin is taken to the church with the real breakdown coming as it is lowered in the grave. it's as if something clicks in their mind at that point and they finally realize that their loved one really is gone (like they were in a sort of denial until then).
  4. today i had to help the master of patchwork (my father) to water some trees he planted to use as firewood when they grow and i say master of patchwork because he decided to buy them 2 years ago but took no steps to prepare the field where he would plant them (he bought them 2 weeks ago). he didn't bring someone to plow it until the last day before planting (7 days after he bought the trees and right after rain) resulting in messy soil and didn't even think of preparing a source of water. so now he has to fill a 300L tank at home, take it there, and since the weight of the water alone can't create enough pressure to push the water through a 100m tube he got (yesterday) for this purpose, we had to use buckets... and of course 300L are not enough so we had to go refill the tank after watering half the trees
  5. what i really like so far is Joker Game, Mayoiga, Concrete Revolution 2, Ushio to Tora 2 and Kiznaiver. those that are decent are Sousei no Onmyouji, Seisen Cerberus and Asterisk Wars others i just watch (or just aren't bad enough to drop them) are Bakuon, Hundred, Endride and Kanbaneri (this last one started well but the second episode felt like the writer lost his train of thought... pun intended. still i love the character design so i may watch it just for my weekly dose of that if all else fails) the rest are either not my type or i leave them for later (or i already read the manga so i don't care)
  6. Nope. The entire left/right paradigm is a false one. im not talking about left and right as in communists and capitalists, it's a more abstract notion that when the bull that comes out of the mouth of a group of people (SJWs in this case) becomes too toxic, the neutral people will support the opposite camp
  7. well, i think i should try to see if its possible to save both ag center and highpool in wasteland 2. the damage in each progresses as you make progress saving the other so the way i see it, if i kill all bandits at highpool but not help with the water pump failure, i should have enough time to partially save ag center
  8. i've been playing this for a few days now... last time i was on day 39, one of my group left the base because he could not stand another and they always fought, all 3 left are depressed, 1 is moderately wounded, the other is badly wounded and i use the 3rd to try and find bandages to keep the other 2 alive while almost every night i get bandit raids (fortunately i have plenty of guns, ammo and armor and they don't get any more hurt)
  9. political views are like a road: some extremists are to the left, some extremists are to the right but a good 80% of people are somewhere in the middle. the problem is that when the guys on one side start getting too aggressive, the people in the middle will try to distance themselves and the only way to do it is to get closer to the the extremists on the other side.
  10. i saw a video that made a really good point about the division. even if unintentionally, the division glorifies as heroes US government agents who are judges, juries and executioners of US citizens on US soil with zero accountability for their actions. you practically play a game that puts you in the role of a modern day SS
  11. not that you are wrong but... of all possible examples you chose Goku who isn't even human?
  12. i dont know about 3 but one of the main reasons i found 2 easier than 1 was that 2 did not have the fps locked at 30 and that made the controls more responsive.
  13. Bastion was a really good game but with Transistor, Supergiant Games made a masterpiece!
  14. i was playing that too at some time but for no reason i just stopped right after the part where there is a flooded corridor with something in the water. some new game may have come out and changed what i was playing and i never felt like going back i just started Transistor. took me a bit to realize that trying to fight battles in real time was suicide and it was just better to use the strategy mode all the time and run away from enemies while it's on cooldown.
  15. Based on only watching the first movie, the "Hunger Game" in Hunger Games was the most underwhelming with the tacky drama and toned down violence, while the most interesting was the superfluous dress-up and presentation of the contestants. Battle Royale on the other hand seemed to explore certain themes more seriously, like the mental anguish of having to kill your own friend in order to survive, how certain packs are emerging under extreme stress and a commentary on the morals in society in the background. It's like comparing teenage with adult in terms of literature really. if we use japanese terms for it, battle royale was a seinen, hunger games is a shoujo
  16. i reached the final battle of Wasteland 2... the damage the enemies are doing is crazy.
  17. Katarn was in the imperial army until Jan found out and told him that the empire killed his parents, then he abandoned the empire but didn't want to commit to the rebellion so he became a mercenary who often took jobs for the rebels.
  18. i just had a revelation!!! the mc of Rogue One is Jan Ors; if that results in Kyle Katarn becoming canon again... could it be possible that it's Rei Katarn?
  19. How did it compare to the base Binfinite campaign? I've yet to play Burial at Sea myself. As for myself, I've been playing J.U.L.I.A. Among the Stars, a point & click, and Enter the Gungeon. the first part had identical gameplay but it was rather short (but intense). in the second part you play as Elizabeth and it's more stealth oriented with some mechanics that reminded me of the batman games mixed with thief. it's longer with a heavier story that completes the big picture of how Bioshock and Infinite are connected
  20. just finished Burial at Sea. i can finally scratch one game off my "to finish" list
  21. the problem of capitalism right now is that there is an imbalance of priorities. at the heart of the capitalistic system lies consumerism: the more people buy, the more needs to be produced and more people will be needed to produce it. that means more people will have money to buy more stuff and the circle goes on. however the hoarding mentality of the 1% has reversed the situation. to make production more efficient and cheap (so they can keep a bigger % for themselves, as if what they were already getting wasn't astronomical compared to the average employee) they replaced human labor with machines and that reduced the consumer base by increasing the number of unemployed people not able to buy stuff. smaller consumer base means less sales and less sales means lower profit and that leads to reduction of personnel and salaries that leads to further loss of buying power and further loss of profit... and the circle goes on. replacing all human labor with machines will naturally bring a sort of communism because in a world where nobody gets paid, nobody can buy what is practically produced at no cost so money becomes obsolete
  22. does it? the mc of rogue one is called Jan Ors and.... Prior to the events of Dark Forces, Katarn was a student studying to follow in his father's career of agricultural mechanics. However, while at an academy, he was told by officials that the Rebel Alliance had killed his parents. His anger led him to enlist in the Imperial army, where he soon met Jan Ors, an undercover double agent working for the Alliance. Ors uncovered the real information about Katarn's parents; they had actually been killed by the Empire. Shortly thereafter, Ors' cover was blown, and she was taken prisoner. Katarn helped her escape, thus ending his career with the Empire. He then became a mercenary, and due to his hatred for the Empire, regularly took on jobs for the Alliance. In the first level of Dark Forces, which is set prior to A New Hope, Katarn recovers the plans to the Death Star i think the movie will be about how Jan became a spy, how she met Katarn and how the 2 of them got out with the plans of the Death Star
  23. Not Canon. Shame. He had a nice beard. i think he may make an appearance... doesn't the name (and looks) of the mc of Rogue One ring a bell? according to the game Dark Forces, Kyle (imperial officer at the time) is the one who handed the Death Star plans to the rebel agent who then passed them to Leia.
