  1. Your opinion is always your own. Unless it's a direct quote. Then it's someone elses. Why do you repeat that over and over again? This I have no idea what it means at all. You don't have to convince me of anything, you don't even have to answer me. You're free to ignore me or throw darts at my avatar. You don't have to like BG2 either, but when you say why you don't like it, it's an argument, and it can be argued. If you say: BG2 sucks and PoE doesn't cause I don't have time for BG2 - it's not much of an argument against the game, because complete run of PoE2 for example takes about 70 hours I think. They're both RPGs, and these games take a lot of our time. But, tbh, many casuals spend 1000 hours on dotas and world of tenks or whatever and it doesn't bother them at all. If you say: BG2 is more tedious, it's also not correct, since probably even veteran IE players spend more time in PoE battles simply because they require more micromanagement. And that is also wrong. Also, newbies would probably get destroyed by SCS.
  2. You said game is boring ****, I said you're wrong. You gotta back it up with some facts, you can't just pretend that your belief is true because it's "yours". Otherwise what's the point of what you wrote, what value it holds, and why should we care for you not having time to study the game a bit before making an opinion on it, cause your social life sucks or not? Well IWD2 had skeletal D&D3. I don't remember stuff like burning hands being useless or sword&shield being that bad.
  3. Yes to u. Everything you say about yourself is applied to you, not to anyone else. And if you're wrong, it is still you. It's ok to say if game is too difficult. But saying PoE is less tedious is simply untrue. You make no sense. BG2 didn't have casting in wild shape and sword&shield was perfectly viable. You didn't have to pick a manual to learn the game. There were even no builds to speak of. You played fighter you took most str/dex/con and that was the build for a fighter. You didn't build casters around ANYTHING. You had wizard you could learn, and use, any spell, at any time. There were no "trap spells", since if you didn't like one, you could just memorise Sleep if you liked Sleep more. The encounters in IE simply often are quicker. Hardest difficulty doesn't do anything to enemy hp. There are no vampires with 700 hp like in PoE2. It's just a fact that's how it works. IE is less complex than PoE when it comes to character development, and the combat plays quicker. Once again I find it hilarious how many people turn to bitching on D&D. It's like a popular thing to kick some old thing. Thing which did lots of things right and led to great games. Same with IE games though, these forums seem to be choke full of people who hate games which PoE is based on and are eager to mix them with dirt cause they're old or difficult or lol aerie romance. It's just outstanding. Maybe Sawyer's existence emits some sort of waves that brainwash people? I can't but wonder.
  4. Load of bull****. PoE just because of it's system that has more granularity in it is the definition of tedious. It's all about tedious gameplay and repeatedly using abilities you use every combat on every character. Unless you play it on story mode or smh. If you master BG2 you can go through it very quickly. PoE if you don't exploit, is same repetition every combat. "having job and family made me terrible at games" lololo dude. Why say game is pile of crap? Just say it honestly, that it's too difficult for you because you are bad and don't want to improve or spend any effort on the game.
  5. - More lethal, command and control, RTS inspired combat: in IE games you and enemies generally have same amount of hitpoints and even biggest creatures do not have a lot of them, higher difficulty just raises damage you receive. This leads to more tactical combat where correct tactic allows you to win over better stats. In IE combat any metaphorical tactical button you press usually changes combat pacing a lot, in PoE you just rotate them like in MMOs. IE games by default also had a lot more mobility, control and finess, PoE has engagement aka trench warfate. Add to this monsters with unique abilities and resists. - Better magic system. At it's best IE has more expansive magic system with stronger effects. - Better magic system translates to better monsters and of course better itemization. Since something like Haste or Slow or Paralyze or Poison are so powerful, an item that gives you Haste or immunity to Poison feels more useful than any item in PoE. Monsters that are more dangerous are also more rewarding to defeat and lead to crazier and cooler encounters. - Big world with good dungeons. IE games didn't have the best dungeons (that's more of blobber thing), but Durlag's Tower & Watcher's Keep are still unrivaled by anything happened in PoE. - Companions are D&D cliches, but there are more of them, and they provide a real sense of camaraderie and different flavor for multiple playthroughs. In BG if you played with Keldorn, Aerie & Minsc it was different experience to playing with Edwin, Viconia and Korgan. Companions in BG are more expressive, and multiplied by great voice acting, it leads to pretty fun experience. They're more one-dimensional, but paradoxically it leads to more interesting party gathering since you figure out which character would not tolerate whom, or what, you do. Some of them even had a lot of troubles and weaknesses - Viconia's MR worked both on enemy spells and yours, some characters had very low constitution or dex, some had great stats but terrible personalities, Minsc could just break from your control in combat but it was useful against charm effects, Khalid getting struck by lightning when raining and running away half across the map, etc. - IE games also tried to sometimes place setting first. It's hard to explain but simulation generally leads to some perks when it comes to immersion and even gameplay. For example, low STR characters could not wear better armor, but if you found gauntles of ogre strength for them, the way you use them would change very dramatically. Or the fact that you could sometimes use detect alignment spell to know if some dudes in a forest are trouble or not. Or the fact that you could ask greater power for a true name for super set of demonic armor by finding correct spell, memorising it and casting it.
  6. On POTD scaling you can meet monsters with 17-18 armor, extra pen would not do anything there. You'll have to switch to something else anyway, and when you do you usually will have option to pen. So it doesn't really matter if 2 handers would have extra pen really. Until dual wielding fists or sabers does only about 25% less damage per weapon and buffed can hit three times as fast while interrupting dude with 2-hander to boot, 2-handers will suck. Compared to now 2-handers need to do like double damage. Cleric's summoned sword with acid lash was reasonable before patch, and dual wielders would still do more damage in my party than cleric with one.
  7. Deadfire already has all the systems for x-com/expeditions injuries style, it's called your crew. It just that it doesn't affect companions in same way and is generally made to be as not stressful for players as possible, of course.
  8. It's not about clearance. It's about veteran rpg players using most of their (full) party and resources available to them. If you're drinking healing potions then the fight is difficult. This difficulty already exists, and it is called levels 1-8. The whole thread is about what happens with difficulty after levels 1-8(10/12 depending on your game). Unmodded game for now has such XP curve and XP rewards, that you overlevel MOST of the content after 20 hours or so. It's not about theorycrafting here; you simply overlevel monsters hard very quickly.
  9. That's what PoE is. Everyone else plays Fallout 4. You another of those fatalistic people or a samaritan with big wallet supporting Obsidian because you care for their children or smh? What's up with this asinine self righteous flagellation "yes of course they can ignore what I like because someone needs a new boat". This is worse than casuals who just want their romances and game feeding it's content by chewing it and putting in their mouth. At least they are stubborn enough to ask what they want all the time. What if only 20% of people beats the game at all, does that mean 80% of the game can be cut content and empty locations like Ukaizo is? The smallest part of players who beats your games and gives you criticism & support are those who will buy your next game, and every other one after it. Thacobells got their romances and hiding helmets, I want my high level content, XP balance, difficulty and monsters kicking my teeth out. And I don't care if they need a new boat instead.
  10. It's mobility/interrupt option. P. useful regardless of damage. Although it's strange that Monk can have damage on similar ability but Fighter can't.
  11. Monsters simply are not designed to be a challenge after second half of the game. Even playing with Deadly Deadfire xp cut, which makes it feel more like complete game (for example, I reached vampire island on level 17, and generally struggled to go above level 15 without doing latest game content) because you reach parts of the game on level which seems like is supposed to fit, even some of monster stats make little sense (i.e. Fire Giant's incredibly low deflection which makes them explode from your melees). OTOH I fought magma dragon on relatively normal level for it (~15), and without consumables never landed a single spell on it. Couldn't land any spells throughout whole combat because any debuff I had would simply bounce off it. Literally killed it by auto-attacking lol. It's just infuriating how much PoE system relies on defence for challenge instead of offense, exotic abilities, positioning, dungeon/traps design, resources or AI. There is that thread about what if Deadfire had Underdark, and I gotta agree, a big, hidden chunk of content opening after particular level/event would really do good for this game, especially if it would be high level adventure, with monsters from levels 17 to 20+.
  12. Why should you get second duskfall, it was a bug. Brigandine is now on a different mob same place. It was on ogre I believe, now I think deathknight drops it.
  13. TBH with single casters you would just not find that many spells worth using to begin with. There aren't particular must have spells which you always take, like haste/breach/stoneskin/dispel magic, and not enough schools of magic/priest/druid domains to make you choose. I end up taking 3-5 passives because of that.
  14. Developers should make some ugliest helmets possible with super strong stats and remove button to hide them to troll players.
  15. There is no point in builds in single player game at all actually, especially in one which you can finish without builds AND without consumables.
  16. I have been restarting / rerolling characters since the game started (175 hours) My conclusion is that I cant play the game pffffhhhhh wait I wanna check this person other posts here is one https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/101989-11-rip-beckoners/page-3?do=findComment&comment=2054986
  17. https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Hel_Beckoning Good looking, no need for upgrades much and massive extra lash damage.
  18. My first playthrough was Ghost Heart/Shifter, but I got balanced by fact that pet counts as summon so you can't have druid summon & pet.
  19. AI either picks closest or lowest hp. Since boat screws with party positioning you're in front and get gunned down. This is why I generally just sink enemy boats after first playthrough since these fights all play out the same. You can use this to your advantage though. Grab tower shield, -50% damage passive and plate armor and tank for the party :D
  20. I did full playthrough with Serafen as single barb and Witch. Single barb did twice damage, meaning that auto-attacking may be more effective than some of the cipher stuff. Of course I could have built him wrong, but makes you think.
  21. I just randomly kill everyone on that island regardless whom I side with but never noticed it forbidding siding with any faction. People like Furante can dislike it but there are always Replacement Placeholder NPCs TM which help you anyway. As for Vailians, you gotta progress through main plot to get next quest.
  22. Single enemies like dragons suffer so much from interrupt and unloading multiple stuns and debuffs on them that there is no problem. Generally I do not even allow them to do a single action in combat as my monk repeatedly kick flips them in the air. Wearing superb+ armor & single strong heal provide you with all survivability you need. If you hate AOO so much, you can also just use Grog. Then you will always have superior mobility over AI. Basically 4 out 5 of my characters usually look something like this https://s22.postimg.cc/g206oym29/bestwaifu.jpg and the 5th tough one is usually just for LARP reasons because I make one more out of habit than anything.
  23. Ima gonna tell EVERYONE The fact that Tigranes even has to make that point is very funny. We went a long way from a game for sleeping IE fans & killing beetles to "well Obsidian has to eat eh".
