The buckler was still in use during that time period, when other shields had fallen out of favor because of guns, etc. That shows you how versatile it was. It doesn't mean it was only used then, it was used LONG before that time period and I do not know owhy you think it's only effective vs thin armor opponents? It's a shield, you still use a weapon... AS a shield goes, the buckler was far more versatile to use in melee combat then other shields, hence why many knights, in full plate armor, fighting against other knights, in full plate armor, used them. because it was used in general use with rapiers... and short swords..

yes according to that link, but i have dedicated my time to reading others and they all suggest that they were widley used by pirates and other swashbuckler types, hence why called swashbucklers. good vs others with light swords and thin armor, but not vs armor clad warriors, and yes i ahve read various documents on the subject matter.

i'd rather my full-plate armor weighed nothing or soem dragon scales or bones weight nothing, or maybe a bastard sword has no weight, wow that would make it so much easier for me. Really i feel that people have become to used to the fact that in games gold weighs nothing and expects it in all games - but if we view things liekt hat then may as well just make this game a spoon fed rpg just like all the other today.

hmm.. again. i voted no. As per the other thread. Personally i really love the developers companions in the old infinity games, especially baldurs gate 2. I feel they add so much to the whole game experience in generaland add a lot to the story and adds to immersion. Their random storys and squabbles during the game adds alot of heart and soul to the game and makes it feel their was a world and other adventurers before you came along, and really brings the game to life. Now if they keep these npcs, and it doesnt effect this by bringing int he option to create more than one of your own chars then fine, but i'm strongly against it if it will replace the companions. I actually liked iwd, but compared to bg2 it felt lifeless

How does this hurt you though? Does it really seem like a "great" thing to be forced to either be underpowered stat wise while wearing a set of armor you really really like, or having to ditch it for armor that you might think looks "fruity?" I see no downside to it, no one is forcing you to do it, it'd be a choice. If you like going through new equipment and changing your like you wouldn't have to use this. Choice between looks or functionality is a very real one, so why should you be exempet from making it? Not that I think the developers will make ugly armors, but the idea sucks. It bothers me when people want to cheat the mechanics because of their PETTY obsessions. Don't like the game? Don't play it. Don't like the armor? Don't wear it. i agree next they will be asking for bunny suites and batman costumes so they can look cute and cool. Vanity things are not for old style rpg's, but are for new age mmo's that cater for the wide- audience and want soemthign for all ages

Let's make it a 30 min game of unparalleled epicness and we also are all sent a tea bag so we can feel and taste the experience with a nice cup of tea too!

By goign with that logic you could say the current stretch goals should not be implemented - more companions- more races- more story- more items- player house, these are stretch goals that are added on, so why is it so different with a dungeon? Ofc it's easy for them to fit it in with the game, it's a fantasy games and just liek baldur's gate 1 & 2 they have dungeons.

Don't forget that europeans tend to be alot more polite than our american cousins - don't take offence it isn't their fault the majority are big-headed, rude and arrogant -

I kinda find this ironic, seeing as you are the one who in fact started a topic about someone raping someones daughter - this is the first time i have heard this mentioned within these forums ^^ you must be immature to start a thread about this -
