  1. Except LARP'ing means Live Action Role-Play and someone sitting behind a computer screen playing a game is not LARP'ing. Otherwise you could argue that 5 guys sitting around a table with character sheets and dice are LARP'ing, since that requires a hell of a lot more imagination than playing Fallout or Baldur's Gate. You don't say. Reading comprehension is not your strongest skill, is it? You be trolling. He's right that the term makes no sense when used in this regard. Reading comprehension is fine. I was giving a detailed explanation for those people who insist on using LARP'ing to refer to playing a PC game, as the crazy white bunny (Loved the original game, btw! ) rightly pointed out. Take your troll-mode engage elsewhere please.

  3. If it was done similar to the Suikoden games, I'd quite like a New Game+ Basically, in those games, there are some encounters that are completely optional to beat, for storyline purposes. First playthrough, you pretty much have no chance of winning. If you go in with New Game+, you keep some of your gear and your level, so those unbeatable encounters can actually be beaten (they're still a bit of a challenge, but it can be done). This makes the story slightly different. If, and only if, Obsidian had the time then I would love to see something like that. Otherwise I'm quite happy to just roll a different race/class combo and replay.
  4. I already upped mine by $8 for the OO... At $168, there isn't really more I can pledge without winning the lottery or having some other kind of lucky windfall.
  5. I'm going to be honest... I love the idea. I really do. It's something I jumped all over when it was introduced to EverQuest II (Seriously... raiders looked like hobo's with their mis-matched armour... and some of the level 50-60 weapons looked cool but outright DIDN'T WORK on Level 80+ mobs) but I'm not entirely sure it's appropriate for this game. A very small customization option, like armour dye, I could get behind though. That works nicely in Diablo 3... especially the vanishing dye. I love using that on helmets.
  6. You know what I would be really interested to see? PDF's of the game design doc's. A "Making of" DVD is one thing. Seeing copies of all the scraps of paper used in the development process is entirely different and would certainly interest me!
  7. Winning the lottery. The other half is already wanting to kill me for throwing $170 on this.
  8. Minotaurs, part dragon men, sirens, merfolk... etc. Anything like that would be pretty cool. :D
  9. Oh, I know. It's just that people who pledged the extra $8 after me got there's already.
  10. I'd love to see it implemented too. To a lesser extent, even Diablo 3 has this. Everytime you do something epic, the townsfolk start talking about what you've done for them. I'd love to see the world of Project Eternity react to my character... so if I'm a good guy, I get good press and nice comments. If I'm a scumbag... then bad press, snide comments, maybe the odd rotten tomato.
  11. That's hardly "a fact" and wanting romance is certainly less creepy than all the threads that seem to have a hard-on for "killable children are a must !" and "more violent finishing moves plz !". Fun fact. Cybering is the realm of MMO's, not the realm of games like Baldur's Gate. You don't type out your responses or your characters actions like you would in an MMO. You click pre-selected text. Likewise, playing RPG's on PC's is not LARP'ing (and I have seen people refer to it as such). Putting on a ton of armour, grabbing a sword, acting out a character and hitting people with said weapon is LARP'ing.
  12. The Pathfinder Wizard... http://images.wikia.com/kolidascope/images/d/dd/Pathfinder5-Wizard.jpg No robes and wizard hats. Just appropriate travelling gear, a stick and a crossbow.
  13. Right now I'm wishing I'd won the lottery, just so I can throw $5k at the project to hit the $2Mil mark. House plz!
  14. I take as many quests as I can when playing games just because I don't want to miss out on bits of story. I've actually found little hints and snippets relating to the main plot in side quests before (I'm the guy that people get annoyed with in MMO's because I listen to everything an NPC has to say and read all the quest text)
  15. Just a small thing... Those of you who seem rabidly opposed to romances... why not sod off out the thread? Your troll-mode engage is not needed, and telling people that just because they want a romance in an RPG means they should be over on BSN just makes you sound like a bratty teen. Let's try and keep the thread somewhat constructive. People have the right to not want romances, and to explain that in a mature and well-reasoned manner, not to act like a derp.
  16. You're closer to your goal..how is that nothing? I really don't get why so many people are like insecure childrenthat feel the need to be patted on the head and rewarded for EVERYTHING they do. Obsessed with better LOOT, higher levels and stuff like that, instead of just roleplaying and enjoying the story. What makes you think that you HAVE to be rewarded for everything you do? Does a FPS reward you every time you snipe a guy off some hill? Does Splinter Cell reward you every time you pass trough a room? Why is it that people ignroe the journey and only think abotu what they can get? Mindlessly slashing through mobs does not equal role-play and story. If it did, Diablo would be the greatest RPG ever. Sorry, but I'm used to old school Pen 'N' Paper RPG's. You get XP for killing mobs, doing stuff in-character, using your skills and completing quests. Killing mobs in a game without XP basically makes them nothing more than an artificial way of slowing you down while you try to progress the main story, or even a side story. As such, since I would get a reward if I were doing this in a game of Pathfinder or D&D 3.5, I'd quite like that in my PC game too. That doesn't make me an insecure child simply because I'd like something present in older and popular RPG systems in a game I have backed/would most likely buy. Now, if you want your questions answered properly: What makes you think that you HAVE to be rewarded for everything you do? Everything I do? No. Killing creatures which, if you want to apply realism, would mean my characters skills are getting better? Yes please. Does a FPS reward you every time you snipe a guy off some hill? Depends on the FPS. A lot of them add to a "headshot" tally that will eventually give you an achievement and some kind of unlockable reward (Gears of War 3 and Borderlands 2 both do this, IIRC). Does Splinter Cell reward you every time you pass trough a room? Never played Splinter Cell. However, EverQuest 2 gives you a reward every time you visit a new area, so I think that counts (it gives you Level XP and Alternate Advancement XP if you're above level 10) Not sure if you're just trying to troll me, or honestly think that "Quests only give XP" is actually acceptable.
  17. Photo of what I believe is an iPad running BG:EE - http://www.baldursgate.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/sc1.jpg It would be entirely possible to port the game over if this is the style of UI they envision for Project Eternity. The fact they're programming it with Unity also makes it a fairly simple process. Regarding processing power... well... look at some of the games out on Android right now. Mass Effect: Infiltrator, for example... Minecraft: Pocket Edition. A decent phone can handle the 3D aspect with no problems (mine can run ME: Infiltrator with no issues. It's a Motorola Atrix). With that in mind, plus all the AI required for Mass Effect, I'm pretty sure a low-end Android device in 2014 could run the game (I'm going on the assumption low end in 2 years will be about the same as THIS years high end).
  18. I quite liked the way the BG VO system worked, specifically BG2. After I'd heard a characters voice a few times, I could pretty much imagine what they sounded like for the remainder of the dialogue. I'd love to see that used again. Also, not having full voice overs means that you can actually name your character properly and everyone in the game doesn't have to refer to them as something like "Grey Warden", or "Dragonborn" etc...
  19. I actually prefer the 3.5 D&D XP tables. However, I could get behind a slower levelling system IF (and I feel this is important) all classes level at the same rate. No 2k XP for a fighter, 1.25k for a thief, 2.5k for a mage... etc.
  20. Jennifer Hale would be great. I loved her work in Mass Effect. Too expensive though. Since this is essentially an "Indie" game (as it's not going through a major publisher), I would love to see some unknown Voice Actors... if Obsidian choose to use any, of course.
  21. No regen and no instant healing after combat. I would LOVE to see some kind of "Non Magical" healing that can be applied after combat. During combat, you should have to use potions, wands or scrolls... and unplugging a potion if there's something next to you beating your face in should have consequences. After combat, the party should be able to sit down, get out all of the various healing supplies (bandages, herbs, etc) and patch each other up. Relying on magical healing is the way it's done. I'd love another alternative for after the fight.
