I'm not sauing I'd be hunting, but would not have issue with killing a more domesticated animal like a chicken or a rabbit.

Our western spcieties, especially generation of born afyer 1990 are too soft and to weak. They will post on social media how they suppprt this or that, but they will never compromise on their comfot to actually go and do something about it when the risks are real. It's easy to shout 'defund the police', 'toxic masculanity', etc. when there are no real threats, but this only make the societies weak, and determined societies like Russia and China will abuse that. I'm a bit older, I can live without a cell phone and internet, can grow some food and kill an animal, if needed. I'd probably have no issue with harming another human being and feel no remorse if the other human being would be threathening my family, but I have no condition to a prolonged fight, or I would now not be even able to check and use a gun properly. If someone would give me now an AK i would probably have hard time using it properly, or even reload it efficiently or unjam. Younger people, would die without a working mobile...

This is a meme, but it is not so funny for Ukrainian men, who are now being separated from evacuating families. Men during the times of conflict are force drafted and they have nothing to say. A few of my friends have to stay - great people, quants and engineers

Some news: “"" "" "" "" "" "" Russian state media is in the evening Thursday (local time) citing Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov to say that Moscow is offering Kiev "terms of surrender". Meanwhile... WESTERN ALLIES SEE KYIV FALLING TO RUSSIAN FORCES WITHIN HOURS Peskov said: The president formulated his vision of what we would expect from Ukraine in order for the so-called ‘red-line’ problems to be resolved. This is neutral status, and this is a refusal to deploy weapons. And further: The operation has its goals – they must be achieved. The president said that all decisions have been made, and the goals will be achieved,” Peskov continued, suggesting that, if Kiev were to agree to meet the demands, the current military attack on Ukraine could be called off. https://www.rt.com/russia/550505-kremlin-presents-demands-kiev/

He won't, because that could push EU to accept swoft sanctions. There is a reason why gas is still flowing through Ukraine even durimg armed conflict there.
-
So, no extraordinary sanctions. Financial markets cut-off (Russia is prepared with reserves and they have a lot of gold mines) Tech exports to Russia (Russia will have to buy from China or keep using own tech) Sanctions on individuals (nothing new, will be spending more money in Turkey, Egypt, China, South America)

Do you think China will use this time to attack Taiwan?
-
I thibk they are using it for a passage to avoid any return fire

Is it? Well still shows potentially a ppower of drones and assumetric warfare. I hate posting vids from tweets. Ez to get burnt spreading false footage...

This is why it is a mistake by Putin to get hia handa dirty over this much of the area, amd why there is no chance for occupation or permanent regime change. The asymetric war has never been easier.

Seems there are already demands flowing from Russias side (Peskov) , that they are now willing to talk a 'neutral' status of Ukraine which would mean no miliatry capability build up and no NATO

So far EU is not willing to reach out for SWIFT and blocking resources https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/eu-unlikely-cut-russia-off-swift-now-sources-say-2022-02-24/ None of Western countries is in a position to impose really strong economic sanctions on main flow of cash into Rus economy. That's double edge sword, of which costs they simply cannot bear as otherwise populace tired with covid restrictions will just revolt. Plus, most of the countries are not homogenous in values and beliefs, and the spirit of national pride and patriotism was being effectively killed for conformism and multiculturalism. Our societies do not want to look at war at close, not to mention bear any costs of it i person. They want to live comfy lives secured by previous generations. No one will grab arms and run to aid Ukraine and fight Russians with real risks of injuries and dying

That's a dangerously simple assertion, considering Oil popped 9%+ to over 101USD today so far US is currently a net importer of oil. The strength is effective as log as others believe you are strong. I would not be surprised if the Afghan weakness shown by US was one of catalusts for this 'insane' decision. Others are checking where the boundries are right now in the post Covid, weak globalized economy period. Lets hope it will end here... And soon...

Pakistan doesn't give a F. as well it seems. https://www.newindianexpress.com/world/2022/feb/24/pakistan-pm-imran-khan-ends-two-day-visit-to-moscow-amid-ukraine-crisis-2423242.html Looks like this is a power struggle and others observe how will the Western capital powerhouses respond.

Well, we know where China stands on this. I believe this is their time as observer, and depending on the outcome they will decise upon taking control of Taiwan https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-europe-russia-china-beijing-c73b5249d313d661ce1836911b1dbc45

US market not yet open, but drops of 2-3% are notciable when talking pure stocks. It's what will happen in next couple of months. So far the sanctions seem to avoid any trade related aspects, which could hit natural resources like oil, gas, wheat etc. They want to focus on exports of tecj to Russia and financial markets. Tech can be covered by China and Russia itswlf as long as they can trade their respurces for cash. Financial markets, they do not really care about. Lets see what US and EU will officially declare as sanctions, then we will speak of economic fallout

Or he can carve out south east, demolish current miliatry infrastructure and hardware, and fore a treaty which will enforce so called 'demilitarization'. No need for such occupation and blood baths. He couldn't stop revolution when there was a lot of popular support for Russians, he certainly will not be able to keep marionetes in power with hostile populace. I've been giving him credit of being rational so far and he has proven me that he has more risk acceptance in his mind, so I might be wrong again. I just think it is not a sustainable solution and he should know this.

You are talking on a country with 40+ mln ppl accustomed to fairly comfy, western like style of life. Russians will also have no interest of occuping the country. They will want to carve out the south east. Maybe force Zelensky out, but I do not see them having to fight in the cities. You know how big Kiev is? Have tyou been there?

Worryingly, Russians landed in Odessa, which is way west to the area of Crimea and land bridge to Russian controlled territory, which means that potentially regime change is the goal, the WORST possible scenario for Ukraine is becoming the most likely very fast... The comments about 'ruling junta' also indicate on the regime change...
