Not if you ask me. The English names are just as good/bad as the German translations.
  2. Welcome our newest members! Wolar, Rittmeister of the Obsidian Order, Bashtor, Swordsman of the Obsidian Order and Moonlight Butterfly, Crazy Cat Lady of the Obsidian Order! Sorry, my mistake,. You will be added on the next update. Sorry, it will be fixed on the next update!
  3. Humor is always good. Minsc and Boo were legendary. It is always nice to have some humor in the game even if it is only a simple line of text, like a humorous response in the options you have to choose from while having a conversation. I always enjoy those. ^^ One of my favorites was in Baldur's Gate 2 though. I was looking for some guy (can't remember where or who it was) and only the servant was at home in this guy's home/tower. The servant had an extremely heavy English dialect, and the writers phonetically transfered it to text. So instead of saying "Sir" the text said "Sah", stuff like that. And he was a real stingy ass on top of it. I loled so hard, it was fantastic! Good time, good times
  4. Brothers and Sisters of the Obsidian Order! Welcome our newest members! HansKrSG, True Dreamer of the Obsidian Order, Gensou, Grand Illusionist of the Obsidian Order, Intendant S, Operative of the Obsidian Order, Killroy, Spy of the Obsidian Order, smithereen, Chief Consulting Oracle of the Obsidian Order and Technatorium, Technomage of the Obsidian Order !! Well, it will be possible to check if somebody paid the $8 or not. If you want your forum kickstarter backer badge at least.
  5. Many Europeans / South Americans would love to play this game but will refuse to pledge if the game is not translated. It was a smart move. Just wait until tommorow when Europe is awake... you will change your mind about the translations.
  6. Awesome update! French, German, Spanish and the Novella. Thanks Obsidian! :D And Edair looks awesome too. A battle hardened adventurer. Excellent! And what is he holding... a whip or some rope?
  7. These guy are pretty cool, a "Wolpertinger". It is basically a horned hare with wings and fangs. http://en.wikipedia....ki/Wolpertinger I recently found out that these little suckers are a pet in WoW ^^
  8. Hitler? WTF lol Hitler was a European. Most Americans are Europeans. = All Europeans and most Americans are Hitler. q.e.d. /Close thread lol Yeah. It went south real quick.
  9. The backgrounds will be pre-rendered 3D, the characters will be real-time 3D.
  10. Well, I don't really think that any of the options have anything to do with a story being good and exciting, or bad and boring - the writing makes a story good or bad. A "just some normal dude"-setting doesn't mean that a story will be good. It is the writing that matters - and nothing else. I have to say that playing a character with a mysterious background (that not even he himself knows about) makes the game more interesting for me. I liked how this was done in BG series, that was story telling at it's best. You can also totally **** it up like in Skyrim for example. The story about the "Chosen One" in Skyrim was really bad. It is no wonder that nobody wants to see stuff like this in a game anymore. We are constantly fed with "Chosen One" games where the writing is absolutely terrible. True, like in Star Wars. Luke starts off as just "some dude with golden hair" and eventually becomes the Chosen One... Luke was actually the Chosen One the whole time, he and the viewer just didn't know this until the last movie. :D
  11. Health regeneration is lame. You should only be able to heal yourself with potions or items... or with that extremely rare ring of healing.
  12. If the merchant in Fallout (and even Skyrim) ran out of bottle caps then you could barter with him, even though the value of the items was still measured in bottle caps. I used it all the time. I would trade all of the heavy stuff I had for light weight drugs and stimpacks. I don't think anybody here really has a problem with this system either.
  13. You just answered your own question. A pure barter system would work by doing the same thing as other games with a bartering system: attaching a value to each item. Voila, it works! Not that I'm advocating such a thing. In Metro 2033 the game used bullets as currency and fallout used bottlecaps. Using arrows like I described would make them the currency. The only difference being that the player would have to figure everything out himself.
  14. Fallout had a currency system (bottlecaps). The value of everything was measured in bottlecaps.
  15. It won't work. How do you expect a "pure" barter system to work in a game? This sword is worth 2 shoes, an arrow and 2 kilos of flour - or 5 arrows a helmet and a gauntlet? Then people would start making lists like: arrow < flour < helmet < gauntlet etc. etc. etc. Then you would take the "cheapest" item and start measuring the value of everything in arrows. E.g. flour = 2 arrows, helmet = 15,5 arrows, etc. Eventually making arrows your basic currency. What a tedious mechanic. Anyway, even if the game did have a pure bartering system then the programmers would need to add a value to everything anyway (a certain number). Might as well just make these "generic" numbers the currency.
  16. @Nakia & LordCrash: I am sorry that I lost my temper. I was just trying to be democratic and hear out what everybody thinks on this subject because somebody brought it up. I felt somewhat offended for being attacked, even though my stance on this subject is truly neutral. But you are right, we don't need any rules. It is not a club or anything of the like, we are just fans. We will just leave it at that. Let's just end the discussion.
  17. Hi Hans, I wanted to ask you about your title but then I forgot. Do You really want to be the "pervert" of the Obsidian Order? I don't want to sound prude, but I am not sure if that is an appropriate title.
  18. Does everybody have to shut the **** up in here or what? Is that your rule? These were only my thoughts, nothing else. I am not forcing any rules upon anybody, I am just asking what everbody thinks and those are my thoughts. I really don't care if anybody uses a shield or not, I am just trying to be democratic and respect what everybody thinks and wants.
  19. I just want to be democratic about it. These are my thoughts: -the design of the shield we use (it should be official) -where the shield may be placed: in the signature (with our without a spoiler), only as an avatar, only on the first page of our thread; a combination of these options -should the shield be personalized or a standard unpersonalized one -should they be banned If everybody is fine with they way it is, then we will just leave it the way it is.
