@Lurky: These whiners are just so annoying.... But yeah, it is all up to Obsidian. I would like to have romances in the game (if they are well written) but I will not demand it. I will accept whatever decision Obsidian makes.

I see that the same 5 or 6 romance haters are still whining and have still not been able to figure out how to ignore a feature in the game. ^^ I will make an official poll after the kickstarter is finished... and only those with kickstarter badges will be allowed to vote. :D

Only 2 options? Wow, great poll. Both are not really good options. The BG UI is nice, but it wastes alot of space. The NWN UI is also not optimal. Something like the Dragon Age UI is alot better:

I'm in both orders and had to get this into 40 characters. "Walkir, Knight Commander of the Order Order"... I think you have an "order" too many. Woops, typo. ^^ Sure, you can be in both orders, but you need an Obsidian Order title for this forum. But wait... I see that you already have a title. Why are you not in my list? ^^ Anyway, keep the title that you have (for this forum) or choose a new one. Tell me what it will be.

I think Obsidian should invest (most) the money that they make with this game to make the sequel even better! Anyway, they don't really need kicking-it-foward to support other games. As you can see on their kickstarter they are already supporting other developers - and that is more than enough in my opionion.

Where did you get those numbers from? Most AAA titles have development costs of about $20-30 million The kickstarter will very likely go higher than that. Obsidian might invest some of their cash into the game... but thats about it.

You have to pledge at least $8 more than the tier you have selected, then you can become a member.

If there is anything I hate, then it is worthless money in a game. Skyrim is a good example.

Possibly. We really have to discuss it thouroughly though before we send any cash to Obsidian for one of the higher tiers.

I am certain that the PE will become a very successful franchise... and it would be awesome if the Obsidian Order had it's place in the game's lore. :D

Could a Kickstarter project be started for this (assuming it's within their rules)? That way money is only charged if enough is pledged. We'd still need someone to handle the funds and make the pledge on behalf of the group, though. It could be done with Obsidian's PayPal, it would be the easiest and most trustworthy way... but they would have to set it up first.

That's quite right, pre-rendered backgrounds also require certain compromises. Let me clarify - I enjoyed Witcher 2 graphics a great deal, they looked fantastic. But at the same time, I love the "painting" look - it may look static and sometimes unnatural, but it can be quite atmospheric. Not a good choice for every type of the game, but I think it can work marvelously if used right. Obviously not everyone will agree PE is going to be completely pre-rendered in 3D and not hand painted. It will only have that "painting look" if that is the artisitic style they are looking for.

I would like to welcome Wombat, Obsidian Order's Mysterious Stranger, as our newest member! I understand you, this is certainly a problem. I know that Feargus is working on something though, expect to see an announcement about language support soon.

The full budget for The Witcher 2 was less than 10mln USD... That's not that much more, when you consider the amount of work done... Full 3D, full voiceover, development of a completely new engine for the purpose of the game, etc... The salaries and other costs (rent, heating, whatever) are much higher in the US than in Poland. Don't forget that.

Oh yeah, the wolves that **** jewels and gold when they die. A real classic. ^^
