  1. Forgiveness is the better of the pistol names. Dandy Hat of the Diseased Yak
  2. http://www.pcgamer.com/au/2014/04/18/pillars-of-eternity-interview-josh-sawyer-on-world-building-magic-psychic-warriors-and-more/ I remember reading this. I'm pretty sure it was confirmed by Josh that it was four maps somewhere, I can't find a quote though. Defiance Bay has five districts as per the world map mockup. We have the names for four of them too: First Fires, Ondra's Gift, Brackenbury District, Heratige Hill.
  3. You should be able to, but you'd need to contact support because I don't think you can add it onto your pledge because it's finalized.
  4. Btw what is the VFX art direction for spells in this game? I made a thread about this in the GD after the Priest spells were shown but it looks like you guys have gone for a more modern approach to the look of spells ?
  5. The communication about this is so much better than the end of last year
  6. They may even show a video or whatever tomorrow anyway, which is why I made the thread. There'll be something. I'll be happy enough to get a few more environment screens and a good look at the UI. If Obsidian gets really good initial sales figures they'll have something to show off to publishers which may give them some leverage when it comes to getting pitches through.
  7. Battle Realms had that, it was pretty cool. Although I assume in this you'd just swap weapons as attacking with a crossbow or something in melee seems pretty dumb.
  8. Obsidian wants Pillars of Eternity to sell copies (as many as possible really), and part of that is getting exposure from the press. The problem with showing stuff to backers first is that it creates an unfair situation where press who are backers get to see content before press who are not. If press are under an embargo to post articles or reviews, this creates an unfair situation where non-press backers can post about stuff they've already seen, but press backers can't and non-backer press haven't even had access to it yet. This makes both sides of the press snarky and creates a hostile situation and doesn't necessarily generate the pageviews that the press want or the right amount of coverage that the developers want. Thankfully Double Fine have already encountered this issue with Broken Age, and now everyone else is aware of the sticky situation you can get into doing this. I know it sucks that you as a $500+ backer have to wait while press journos who didn't back get to see the game before you do, but ultimately it's in the game and company's best interest. I'd rather PE sells really well and they get a nice phat budget for expansions / sequels than getting to see the game asap. But yeah I didn't create this thread to debate this matter, it's already been done to death in the other thread. Gonna be clickin' that refresh button tomorrow morning.
  9. Josh posted on Something Awful that there would be an update tomorrow Adam posted this on twitter. Four press journo's posted about going to the PE showing today https://twitter.com/austinat/status/476479297956229120 https://twitter.com/necrosofty/status/476461218560237568 https://twitter.com/dantack/status/476509465974669312 https://twitter.com/AngryJoeShow/status/476391463123578881 Press embargo is next week, which I think coincides with the Class Update Josh is doing.
  10. There's not actually that much content in Baldur's Gate (as in the city in Baldur's Gate 1). I did every available hand-placed encounter and quest bar two fetch quests in an evening the other night (and one of those was from Unfinished Business). That said I knew exactly where to go for all of them. That also includes me doing Candlekeep Revisit and Chapter 7 stuff too. Took me maybe 6 hours or something, tops.
  11. A lot of the actual concept art probably isn't up to being shown off like that. Ever since the earlier art updates they've been pretty careful about which concepts to show, as some of them are a lot simpler (to save time, as the concept artists have a LOT of work to do). Pretty sure they've only got two of them on the project as well.
  12. The power curve in this game should be relatively flat in comparison as abilities and spells do not scale with level. Accuracy, Defenses and Vitality (Health/Stamina) does, but less so than in D&D probably. You technically get +3 to all defenses and +3 to accuracy per level. +5 per level in PE is the equivalent of +1 in D&D, so it's a granular increase. HP increase probs won't be as crazy as D&D either but you never know.
  13. Well my original post was about banking in on the Kickstarter style early access. It's clear that other games such as Wasteland 2 and Divinity Original Sin have *needed* that extra money, whereas PE obviously doesn't need it.
  14. You can also go back to the original quotes before the Kickstarter
  15. That's actually not true at all. Australian Football eclipses soccer. I personally don't like the game anymore (it used to be a good sport up until the 2000s) but midfielders in AFL run around a minimum of 12km/game up to around 20km/game. Average was about 13km in 2005 (for all players, they use gps trackers in the jumpers) but it's gone up since then due to the change in playstyles.
  16. There are multiple currencies in this game. They all get converted into copper pieces once you pick them up though, for convenience. Copper Ponds (Dyrwood, small copper coin) - 1 cp Skeyts (Vailian Republics, small copper coin) - 1 cp Awlds (Eir Glanfath, large copper coin) - 1 cp Silver lusce (Vailian Republics, silver coin) - 3 cp Silver fenning (Aedyr Empire, silver coin) - 6 cp Suole (Vailian Republics, gold coin) - 9 cp Duc (Dyrwood, gold coin) - 12 cp Scelling (Aedyr Empire, gold coin) - 12 cp Oble (Vailian Republics, gold coin) - 18 cp Enîachs (Eir Glanfath, rare large adra coin) - 60 cp http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/World
  17. I too hope there's more physical locations on the world map than that. That may have been just how many they had at that time in Development, considering that Twin Elms was just a one-map stub.
  18. The reload times won't be THAT long, as long as you have a couple melee at least you should be fine.
  19. Every class can use any weapon (or armor). PE should handle very similar to the IE games. Standard attacks will make up the majority of your moves for a lot of classes. You just left click an enemy once and your character(s) start attacking. http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Pillars_of_Eternity_Wiki PE will have more abilities for martial classes than the IE games. There's a list of them on all the wiki pages along with descriptions of how they play. All attacks and offensive spells use the same Attack Resolution system which is described on the wiki too. The lead designer reported that currently the Cipher with an Arquebus does the most damage.
  20. That's a legit world map. The world map that the devs have been using was shown in Josh Sawyer's GDC presentation. It's just a temporary one with a Kaz mood drawing of the region as a background. (btw the mspaint names are mine, I made this last year) Unknown Cave Dungeon might be Cliaban Rilag. The W area on the beach north of Defiance Bay might be Anslog's Compass. The Outsource W area between Dyrford and Valley of Hector is likely this area and it's probably not Outsourced.
