Make a wish for 3.6
Darth Trethon replied to hideo kuze's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
In case you all completely missed it, we just passed the 3.6 mil goal when kickstarter hit 3,494k.....now looking forward to a quite likely 3.7 mil or even a possible 3.8 mil. -
they'll announce it once KS hits 3.5 mill to keep momentum up! That goal has passed us by when we were at ~3,394k on kickstarter. Now we're closing in on 3.6 mil so that ship sailed a loooooong time ago. We are ~7.5k away from 3.6 mil and 91 pledges from mega dungeon level 11 on kickstarter though in the end we'll also have ~2000 pledgers added on due to paypal so we're ~591 pledgers away from dungeon level 12.

It's a castle!!! So whatever lies there has to be HUGE. They're listening to suggestions but I don't think it'll be announced until after the fact since they are likely to wait to see how much they get and place a cost-appropriate reward there. By the looks of it they'll probably land around 3.7 or 3.8 mil.

Aww....what happened? We had reached 3.5 mil with 3,396k on kickstarter and then all of a sudden it dropped back down to 3,393k....now we have to wait another minute or so in order to reach 3.5 mil again.... I was getting ready to do a happy dance too... -

I keep refreshing kickstarter and I just cannot wait for the 3.5 mil to be actualized and set in stone. I know that at this point it'll be REALLY hard to miss but I can't wait to see the magic words "Goal Achieved!" written next to it. And then there's the matter of tonight's update hitting soon too. -

Ok look as far as races, companions and so on.....well, we have enough. I want them to really go crazy with the 3.6 mil stretch goal. Nothing too expensive for them for something truly radical and unexpected and above all mind-blowing. Something that can make us say: "I would never have thought of that but it's so awesome that I want nothing more than that. Sort of like the Cipher class was and the complete opposite of the Barbarian, Priest, Monk, Paladin and Chanter classes. Now I by no means am saying that the 3.6 stretch goal should be new classes as we've got plenty(though half are unplayable) but that we should be pleasantly surprised. -

Aaand Kickstarter quietly passed 3.2 mil while we weren't watching. With 9 hours to go I expect we'll end up somewhere around 3.26 mil plus the ~90k from paypal we ought to be left with about 150k for the last 24 hours though it may well end up bringing up double that amount. I think obsidian should come up with a 3.6 mil stretch goal. -
Well, it was a running joke during his Ustream that our next stretch goal would be cats. Now my reason for wanting it is because of a few other games, BG + IWD. You'll recall the dead cats in IWD and the pantaloons in BG, i'm thinking something fun a long those lines would actually be a cool stretch goal for the game itself. Now that you mention it that would be cool....though maybe not dead this time. Still I think they ought to be a stretch goal's bonus point rather than its main incentive.

I have to say though that it feels amazing to own the toughest of the toughest in-game enemies after you've done your math and the legwork to obtain the absolute best crafting materials with the desired and pre-determined effects. To discover that it is within YOUR power to be epic and craft things far greater than anything else in existence. So yeah, I think Obsidian should allow crafting to render insanely powerful things but it should not be easy to obtain the crafting materials necessary to do so. And if the player wants to throw himself/herself at the toughest thing out there....why not? It should be insanely difficult but not impossible. Leave subtle ways for the player to outsmart and defeat the toughest things out there at low levels. The accomplishment feels great.

The idea presumes a value of the CE at the game's release but I think what will most likely happen is that there won't be any physical boxed versions of PE at release(regular or collector's) and this will end up a backer exclusive item. therefore there won't be anything for the customs officials to google.

I would go as far as saying it always happens, to what extent it may vary between 1 loss of the lowest tier on smaller projects to multiple $10K pledge losses because they were fakes. We don't have many 10k pledges....four I think and then there aren't a great deal of 5k pledges either...six I think. From all those I don't think we'll lose more than a couple at most so it really shouldn't have a great impact. I'm sure Obsidian is accounting for worst case scenarios which is why I think they are giving themselves a .5 mil cushion to fall on with the second big city. They are professionals and have successfully managed titanic AAA budgets before. I really would not worry about this at this point.
-
Both have been passed, no good. Maybe a 3.4 or 3.3 mil stretch goal but something that runs very cheap and won't put a significant dent of the big city budget. But all in all 3.5 is fine as is and we'll likely get the big city anyway. That said, I am very excited for tonight, this is the last update before the kickstarter ends so it should be quite special if it doesn't bring any great announcement or addition. Maybe another epic screenshot.

Enough with the nonsense already. Are you all forgetting that Obsidian has been making the best of games for a very long time now? They have recently been working and continue to work on high profile AAA titles. They KNOW how to manage their budget and how to plan their finances. If Obsidian says they can make and deliver X amount of content for X amount of dollars then they can do it, the end. It's also important to remember that while the game may look amazing it is still being made with significantly more old-school tech than the AAA titles we see released these days which also makes development a lot easier and faster. There is no doubt in my mind that Obsidian will not only deliver on what they promised but that they will exceed expectations.

It'll reach it in the next couple of days....the kickstarter has raised between 100 and 150k for the past four consecutive days and the biggest spike is yet to come which is always the last two days. With paypal we are over 3.2 mil so yeah chances are very high that we'll see the 3.5 mil mark reached before the kickstarter ends. Hell, I would not be surprised if we end up raising 300k in the last 24 hours alone. We have also reached level 9 of the dungeon just a few seconds ago with 62500 backers on kickstarter.

That places us at ~3.2 mil and I'd say the second big city is looking very likely to happen to happen I think. Actually at this point I'd be surprised if it didn't happen.

3 MILLION BREACHED
Darth Trethon replied to C2B's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Agree with the first two, not so much the third. I'd love to see the city implemented but I'd only give up the Priest, Monk, Paladin, Chanter and Barbarian classes....the game can really do without them. Beyond that I am rather fond of the player house, stronghold and most other things.
