  1. No I thoroughly disagree with that. Killing my companion cube was extremely distressing
  2. It's true I'm afraid. After playing GTA I immediately went out and ran over some prostitutes.
  3. I don't really follow that. If a car and a bicycle set off from some point at different speeds, then the reverse is possible - two entities travelling at different speeds can arrive at the same place at the same time, if one sets off first. How do they know these photons were emitted at the same time?
  4. He knew well ahead of time the abilities of Eli though, and it was his idea to slingshot the shuttle. It's all very far fetched - certainly for colonel limpy to get suspicious over.
  5. Ah but that's assuming he planned to get rid of them, which clearly he didn't if he was the one that actually formulated the plan to get them back onboard.
  6. I didn't think the ending was that sharp. They're making out that he knew the ship was going to recharge, and that he'd be able to recover what's probably their only shuttle packed full of supplies and two useful personnel before it landed on the planet, trusting the capability of the pilot to not falter - for no known purpose other than to, what, gain political power? Bearing in mind this is supposed to be a highly intelligent individual.
  7. I love how they have such cliche taste. Looks like something from Scarface.
  8. Just an idea, but if that's the theory then using the principal of conservation of angular momentum, flipping a smaller coin will achieve more "random" results.
  9. If you read the article there's no actual explanation in it as to why this may be. I would assume for the same reasons toast tends to fall butter side down, because the two variables that dictate this (the height between the table and the floor, and the rotational speed of the toast) tends to be fixed. Following the same logic I suppose everyone flips a coin more or less in the same manner (same launching force).

    Money

Housing prices here will increase by about 20% by 2012, however I doubt $50,000 is enough to invest in the property market. I don't think they sell quarters of a house. They do actually, it's called a joint lease. Not what I would recommend though, normal people go for a mortgage - and at the ridiculously low rates available at the moment it's a good time to invest before the economy recovers.

    Money

I don't know enough about the stock markets to effectively gamble away large portions of money. Property has always been a safe investment though since my grandfather's days. Depends if you can stomach the word mortgage.
  12. That'd be nuts.
  13. Just out of curiosity, are you overweight? Anyway, if you can't understand the allure of doing something like this, than I'm at a loss to explain it to you. Once again obvious sarcasm completely lost on you. The best bit is how you always feel the need to throw in some random insult, which just totally backfires on yourself. I love it
  14. What is peoples' obsession with doing this, haven't they heard of airplanes?
  15. Yeah I dunno if they should have gone for a cast entirely of unknowns. Could have poached some BSG people - as much as I didn't like that show the acting was good.
  16. Where you should travel depends on how old you are, and how much you hate stereotypical tourists. Although come think of it the two are probably directly proportional.
  17. Balancing the budget would be a good start. At the moment the government's spending 4 pounds for every pound taken back through taxes. The level of cuts we would need to balance the budget would be pretty dramatic. We'd have to reduce our spending to a quarter of what it is now - frankly I don't see this ever happening. I'd reckon a serious long term solution would be looking at ways of making more money. We should raise income tax to 75% so everyone is forced to live with their parents or stayed tied up north in some grotty house on the cheapest mortgage deal they can find. This will create more room in the city for bankers and professional businessmen to lay more golden eggs. It's the lack of golden eggs that's been killing this country.
  18. So they've cashed in on the prestige of the reward, hoping to encourage peace. It's a one time deal, but hey if it works it works. I was never really into the nobel prizes myself, what with the long history of 'bad' choices.
  19. Most schools and work placed are allowed to execute a dress policy. It's in the fine print.
  20. I think we've got different definitions of drama going on here. I'm using it in the broad sense, as in a work of fiction produced for TV, in contrast to say reality TV, documentaries, comedy sketches etc. Where as I think you're looking at it in the sense of emotional and personal conflict and all that boring stuff. I tend to think class that as soap opera drama.
  21. The intelligent ship idea used in a few series, mostly Farscape, doesn't necessarily warrant the absence of any drama. Besides, drama is all right, provided it's not down to the level of soap opera like desperate house wives/ugly betty/sex in the city etc etc.
  22. Looks like quite a cliche plot, but you can never tell from pilots how a series will go.
  23. Is this the one that features a little cameo of the original AOL Neverwinter Nights? Think that's how I bumped into it the first time.
  24. BSG could have done with about four less series.
  25. We yielded to guerrillas. Who couldn't have predicted the state of the country 30 odd years later?
