  1. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ Norway and Denmark have rather low numbers of cases per capita, compared to other European countries. Norway in particular has been doing exceptionally. Sweden is rather average, not good but not terrible, and this is compared to other countries who went all in on masks and lockdowns.
  2. No one really knows if it is a failure. It didn't "went". It's still ongoing and it's way too early to draw any encompassing conclusions. Europe is hitting a new spike right now due to the holidays and things will get worse before they get better. I guess there's one thing that can be said was a failure. Namely protecting the elderly in care homes at the start of the pandemic. It was terrible, and the Swedish authorities have admitted as much. Sweden right now is in process of setting up more restrictions, after passing a temporary law giving some emergency powers to the government. To begin they are limiting the number of people in businesses to 1 per every 10 square metres. Also children from the 7th grade up are being sent home, where schools have the resources in place to teach remotely. This is in addition to a requirement to use masks in public transport during rush hours.
  3. Corporations having influence in politics? What brave dangerous new world is this? Surely it is the first time that has happened, and now some sort of floodgates have been opened.
  4. That's not really a thing in a meaningful way, unless you mean go back to follow Trump values on the down low, while making a superficial show of wanting different things.
  5. The party of limited government, fiscal responsibility and law and order sure has taken all those values to heart during Trump's administration.
  6. From which store?
  7. I wonder if obsidian would still get money from sales on android. I assume the answer is no.
  8. Moved to the appropriate forum.
  9. Apparently using the simple reader view in Firefox allows one to partially bypass the block. Anyway, the article says "Social science research has found that three important factors behind a country’s level of social trust are corruption, ethnic segregation and economic inequality." This makes sense to me, as such a decline surely is down to systemic issues and not due to the more or less recent actions of specific actors.
  10. That article is behind a paywall, unfortunately.

  12. You weren't working from home already? Also do you still work for Weyland Yutani?
  13. I keep thinking of all the available time for mining my computer had for years and years back when mining was relatively quick.
  14. There is no such thing as trumpism
  15. Cancel the plans, of course.

  18. Things appear to be going well in Ohio:
  19. Stars: Supernova Genesis, a sequel to Stars!, which didn't even get a publisher. Here's a wiki page about it: https://wiki.starsautohost.org/wiki/Stars!_Supernova_Genesis
  20. Despite what says on the left I actually live in Partille, a suburb of Gothenburg that is actually its own municipality. Partille proper is a nothing of a city, but within the its area there are actually a bunch of nice places to visit and walk around in. Essentially Partille is in the middle of the woods. Here are some pictures taken by some guy who knows what he is doing: https://www.mikaelsvensson.com/photo/tag/partille-kommun/ And here are some pictures taken by some guy who does not know what he is doing:
  21. That card will definitely be a bottleneck, perhaps even at 1080p.
  22. A 3600 should be more than fine for a good long while. In any case you will really feel the upgrade. I upgraded to one from an ivy bridge in the summer, and it was quite the difference in gaming. What's your GPU?
  23. https://hintaopas.fi/ This is the website that actually works. Ryzen 5 5600x: https://hintaopas.fi/product.php?p=5588360
  24. Ah, not lifting sanctions but not wanting to put new sanctions in place. That I remember somewhat. Trump just didn't veto the legislation because it would have been passed anyway. There isn't a huge problem in the US regarding illegal immigration, it was a fake issue used for campaigning purposes. The problems with immigration that do exist ares more driven by businesses that rely on illegals and the lack of reasonable ways to legally immigrate to the US, and a wall has nothing to do with those. The original intention was to drum up xenophobic feeling among rally goers when on campaign. The post election goal was to have something tangible to point at when challenged on campaign promises. No good intentions were involved anywhere. 3 out of 50 senators is not "several".
