Politics XXXVIII (A Nontotient)
That doesn't make any sense? Assuming Biden is the shirt, is Trump the pants or the feces? If the candidates are all pieces of clothing, is the libertarian point that hypothetical diarrhea guy should have gotten a new hat instead? But if the point is that Trump is the feces, perhaps the argument should be that the holy constitutional pants are too restrictive and old and probably should be updated and improved in order to allow for better protection and cleaning, instead of working against the lower appendages it's supposed to help protect.

Funny Stuff: The Funny Strikes Back
Kind of., but not really. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meatball Also Swedish meatballs are kind of terrible. Italian ones are much better.

Paella is ok, but Portuguese rice dishes are clearly better. Generally Spanish food is good, especially if compared no Northern European cuisine. But Portuguese, Italian and French are all better.

Funny Stuff: The Funny Strikes Back
Portugal was under the Spanish crown for only 80 years. So not exactly ages. Dire Spanish mismanagement led us to kick the Spaniards to the curb rather quickly. Unfortunately, we just got a bunch of chinless wonders to take power, instead, so things didn't exactly improve. Still, we did manage to have better food than the Spanish.

3rd person?
I'd argue it's impossible as I don't think there is a single game with good combat that uses the two perspectives interchangeably.

Avowed - Reveal Trailer
Well, yeah, kind of, but it'd be best to use good games as points of comparison.

3rd person?
I'd rather have more resources invested into first person, than dilute the experience by catering to two different viewpoints. Better physics with full body awareness would be great, for instance. Proper support for non 16:9 resolutions with comprehensive FOV options would be great too.

Avowed - Reveal Trailer
Well, not much to see here, yet. Still, I've been waiting for Obsidian to dip their toes in fantasy first person RPG waters for a long time, so this is exciting. If this is open world, it's nice to be looking forward to one of those for the first time in over a decade. On the other hand, if they went and made an Ultima Underworld type game, I'd be very happy too. Anyway, give us more info!

Politics XXXVIII (A Nontotient)
The only time there werel rumours of a US president not leaving office was fear mongering right wing "articles" about Obama circulating through social media some years ago. They were never taken even slightly seriously by anyone. This time around the only reason that is a talking point is because Trump is patently not all there and a not an intelligent man, while he has been refusing to say yes or no when asked whether he will accept the result of the election if he loses. He had an interview on Fox News just yesterday where the question was asked: Not to say that Trump will refuse to leave. The man has the spinal fortitude of a quadriplegic neothelid and always backs down at the slightest real pressure.

People post interesting things in twitter threads which suck. As such here is a pretty good explanation of libertarianism: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1284565269277360128.html TLDR version: Just go read it if you are interested you lazy person.

30 years ago was the 80s. AKA, part of the late 1900s. I think your old age is showing. 😄

Why do consoles suck so much these days?
So my kid has had a barely used XBOX ONE for a year and it's the crappiest piece of hardware that I have ever bought. So the advantage of consoles over PC used to be ease of use. Plug and play, put in a game and you are playing. That has certainly been thrown out the window, at least for the XBOX ONE. Endless updates, an absolutely horrible interface, apps, apps, apps. login to a Microsoft account, login to developer specific accounts, limited hard drive space, long loading times. And then you have to pay a monthly fee, just to play games online or even just to speak to other people. It's essentially all the disadvantages of a console and all the disadvantages of a PC rolled into one device, and you have to pay monthly for the extra incovenience.

Politics XXXVII (The 12th Prime)
It's actually somewhat notable the way she lists out a bunch of racist dog-whistles without ever actually mentioning the race of the targets. I guess if one is really naive, it's possible to assume she is just disparaging poor people but, of course, that isn't exactly a positive take on its own either.

Coronavirus: Triple Edition
II assume 40% as well, but I don't really know.
-
Coronavirus: Triple Edition
I pay about 25% of my income in taxes. About 40% of that goes to healthcare apparently. VAT here is 25%. The point, however, that you seem to be missing is that even when taking taxes into account, people in the developed world pay much less for healthcare than the US.
-
Coronavirus: Triple Edition
The discussion is about everything in healthcare. Overall cost, premiums, deductibles, quality and availability of care across the country. The US pays more per capita for healthcare than any other country in the world, and gets worse health outcomes as a result. And while the news articles about ridiculous bills are mostly about outrage clicks, the bills are still an underlying problem that contributes to how much the US overpays for healthcare.
-
Coronavirus: Triple Edition
That's a ginormous amount by the standards of any developed nation, except for the US. I assume you pay upwards of 10k a year in premiums, if it is for your family?

Coronavirus: Triple Edition
How much is your deductible? And how much do you pay for your insurance?

I don't know what you consider expensive, but you should be able to get 32GB for like 130 currency of choice. What do you do that you use so much RAM?

Build Thread 3.0
Well, already ordered the following: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 G.Skill Ripjaws V - DDR4 - 16 GB Should work well enough. Thanks for the advice. I already thought about that upgrade thing, but what happens when I plan ahead for upgrading is that I end up not upgrading down the line.
