  1. I haven't upgraded my computer in 4 years! Still, I did some changes after my last house move, last year: ASUS P8H77-V LE INTEL Core i5 3450 3.10GHz GEIL 8GB DDR3 1600MHz ASUS Geforce GTX 980 Ti Crucial MX100 512GB Seagate 1Tb 7200 RPM S-ATA2 32Mb Dell U3415W 2 Dualshock 4 gamepads I should probably buy new speakers, though, and install my sound card again.
  2. Tweeted out by Turkey's former ambassador to the US, apparently.
  3. So after Trump going with "there was no quid pro quo" as a defense since the Ukraine story broke, Mulvaney admitted to a quid pro quo in a press conference, including the words "We do that all the time... get over it". But, apparently Mulvaney's declaration wasn't quite planned (Trump liked it, his legal team hated it (gasp!)), so he came out with a retraction just a couple of hours later. Wait, did I say retraction? Not quite that. What he actually did was blame the press for misconstruing what he said, where misconstruing appears to have the alternative definition of "reporting what is said on camera, verbatim". Only the best people.
  4. So those two guys that got indicted for Ukraine as Giuliani's associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman own a company and a beach club. .... The names of those two businesses are Fraud Guarantee and Mafia Rave. No, really. Really. I assume we're actually now living in the satire universe, managed by former Onion writers.
  5. You could have just written "buttery males" and be done with it.
  6. No matter many how times I hear/read someone stating that Clinton would have been as bad as/worse than Trump, it still leaves me kinda at a loss for words. It's like the utmost expression of bothsideism in text, given form by extraordinary misinformation, willful ignorance or rampant dishonesty. As per usual I post the above with full conscience that Hillary Clinton is an inveterate political animal who probably shouldn't be trusted by anyone.
  7. Why is that true for Biden?
  8. What's most interesting for me is that Trump was the one who came out throwing Pence under the bus, almost immediately. I imagine McConnell most have done the most massive of double takes when that happened.
  9. "To show you how dishonest the LameStream Media is, I used the word Liddle’, not Liddle, in discribing Corrupt Congressman Liddle’ Adam Schiff. Low ratings @CNN purposely took the hyphen out and said I spelled the word little wrong. A small but never ending situation with CNN! " Maybe this should be in the funny things thread. HAHA, OH WOW, etc, etc.
  10. The whistleblower complaint is here: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/whistleblower-complaint-declassified-version-of-complaint-released-by-house-intelligence-committee-ahead-of-dni/ Parsed new stuff (not by me): -WH realized that the call was problematic, and attempted to remove it from normal storage locations -It was instead put into a system normally reserved for highly classified conversations... though nothing of a sensitive nature was discussed -In a follow up meeting with Ukraine the next day, there was further discussion of how to meet President Trumps demands. -Giuliani met with advisors to the Ukraine's president on August 2nd to discuss investigating Biden -Summary of events concerning Ambassador Yovanovich (US Ambassador to Ukraine) -attached memorandum brings up other actions that appear to be designed to pressure Ukraine to cooperate for demands to investigate Trumps political opponents - such as halting security cooperation.
  11. Then all you'd need would be a general with the unwavering support of his army, and a really, really, really smart protégé. Pax Americana next. No possible pitfalls in this plan, surely.
  12. Who the what now? Who are these people worried about mankind being extinct 10 years from now? Are you being openly disingenuous for poops and giggles, or are you really that much of a believer in things that are plainly not true? Since when is the climate change argument between people who think climate change is happening but everything is fine, and people who think humanity will be extinguished in 10 years? Are you perchance willfully strawmanning and goal post moving in a single post? Say it ain't so.
  13. I hope you realize you are functionally the same as a flat earther.
  14. That doesn't strike me as an isolated event. All in all, it seems to me that ship has sailed? The extent to which the Trump admin is being treated as business as usual by so many, especially in D.C. and in the media still amazes me. American political institutions are going to hell in a hand basket and no one seems to be aware or interested in doing anything about it.
  15. Thanks for the extended explanation. The only point I have to make is that as far as I understand what I've read, Warren's wealth tax would apply to accumulated wealth (not sure how they'd count wealth exactly, and how they'd fight avoidance to relocation), not yearly earned income.
  16. Sorry, I was doing my math with Swedish money, so I'd be a Swedish millionaire. Which is kinda crappy I guess. I'd have roughly 150k USD in the bank after 5 years. I'd be a USD millionaire within my lifetime, though.
  17. The housing market is insane around here.
  18. That just means there's something comically wrong with the US. I live in Sweden, a rich and expensive country, by European standards, where I make a good wage by local standards. My wife is currently unemployed, and we're a family of four. We save money every year. We bought a house. If we made 160k per year before tax, we'd be millionaires in 5 years without even trying.
  19. Your (wrong ) views I'm already familiar with, but thanks. Where are you getting that 200k number from, though? As far as I know Warren's wealth tax proposal is to tax people's wealth above 50 million at 2%. Anyway if you stand to be affected by this tax, congrats.
  20. What policy proposals of hers are you uncomfortable with? Basically, what does "she is a bit left o' where we feel comfortable voting" mean exactly? I mean by European standards you strike me as moderate right all the way, but in the current American politics spectrum you might as well be the pinkoest of all the pinkos, by my personal estimation.
  21. Hey Guard Dog, I don't recall seeing anything by you on the subject, so I'll ask here. How do you see the internal skitstorm that is affecting the NRA of late? They seem to be steadfastly digging their own graves.
  22. “There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."
