Politics... US election edition
As Gorgon says Trump turned large parts of the GOP base into a Trump cult. If there's a schism between the Trump loyalists and the rest of the GOP, the party will be in trouble. Additionally, if Trump runs in 2024 outside of the GOP, it will probably be catastrophic for the party's chances.

I'd argue covid19 compares to the Spanish Flu.

Politics 20/20 now with extra hindsight!
No, Biden can still win without PA. Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan and Maine would get Biden to 270, even without Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Arizona has been called for Biden by a couple of outlets, and I believe Nevada should be a lock, even if things look tight right now. Basically Biden needs 2 of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. They are still in play, despite the high percentage of votes already tallied.

Coronavirus: Triple Edition
Yes, I still live here, and have been working from home and avoiding public places since March. Only the kids go out regularly to go to school, which seems unnecessary. We got some info, through a third party, a few days ago that a kid at their school tested positive. Apparently they won't even quarantine the kid's class, and everything will continue as normal, with some limited, mostly ineffectual measures to maintain social distance. The passiveness on display is a bit unnerving.

That will almost certainly not happen though. Votes for Senate seats and President correlate fairly strongly. In any case, I'm not sure if Trump wouldn't get tricked into going along with everything the Dems wanted. Remember when Schumer and Pelosi met with Trump at the beginning of his term, and he basically got manipulated into going along with them?

I assume that if you look for voting lines in your congressional district on google pictures and news should appear.

Down ballot, though. I mean the specific conditions of this election makes the Presidential election especially consequential, but local elections are much more important to your daily life, regardless of the election year.

Incidentally, for years I never really thought about it, because trial by jury is so ubiquitous in pop culture. But at one point I started to reflect on it, and it seems to me like trial by jury is an absolutely idiotic way to make important judicial decisions.

What exactly have the Democrats in crongress screwed up since, I dunno, the repeal of Glass-Steagall? I guess they helped pass the Patriot act?- Politics 20/20
Even internal polling is dire for Trump, and GOP senators are beginning to break away. And Trump isn't the most wrapped of people to begin with. Some recent polls have been slightly improved for Trump in a couple of swing states, but nothing that tips the scales all that much. At this point, the more interesting question is how many senate seats can the Democrats take. That's the thing that will affect US legislation the most in the next couple of years.- Funny Stuff: Return of the Funny

American politics is usually right wing against more right wing. The "extremist" AOCs and Bernie Sanders of American politics would be moderate left wingers in most of the developed world.- Funny Stuff: Return of the Funny
