  1. Hey, I was just sayin. Neither of them are sublime in my mind. In fact, "Blast Off" is my least favorite track of DITS. I hear this is gonna be in that new GTA-ish 360 game, Saints Row.
  2. Ahhhh, I see. Far be it from me to criticize the rotund bard, but I always thought "Blast Off" from Dog in the Sand sounded like a fleshed-out version of "Tossed" done in the Catholics style. Which leads me to wonder if one song morphed into another, like some sort of musical werewolf!
  3. You're not fooling me, Lou. His voice is much better on Cecilia Ann.
  4. Frank Black and the Catholics - Goodbye Lorraine
  5. There is also a growing degree of acceptance for pot that is (rightfully) missing for the other drugs. Even the FBI has relaxed its policy toward marijuana use in the last few years. I filled out an application for one of their writing jobs last summer, and their drug-related questions made it possible for someone who had tried marijuana to be hired. I believe the caveats were "not in the last three years" and "not more than five (may be wrong , but I know it was less than 10) times total." I thought that was a nice change, a way for someone who was curious, tried it and then regretted it, to have a chance for a nice government job.
  6. Nice dude, great song...I saw this guy open for John Prine a few months ago, he was one hell of a performer and since I have picked up all of his albums. Your Flag Decal Won't Get You Into Heaven Anymore- John Prine (long song title I know, but fortunately, the song is good) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm still getting into the new CD. Right now that's my favorite on there, although the song about Phil Ochs is pretty awesome too. I've seen both him and Prine on their own solo shows, both fantastic storytellers and folk-rockers. The Snider show was in the heart of Appalachia... what a great crowd. John Prine - Lake Marie (live)
  7. People! There are less than FOUR days until SNAKES ON A PLANE hits theaters! Cinema will never be the SAME! Edit: that guide is brought to you from www.snakesonablog.com.
  8. That is a lovely mug. And I don't have any more hobbies to add, so my ability to contribute to this thread is just about spent.
  9. The ol' Roofie Colada is no fun. I had a classmate in college that showed up to class one day looking like hell. He had little band aids all over his face (Nelly style) and arms and some pretty big cuts on his head. Apparently, someone put something in his drink at a bar and he ended up climbing someone's fence and jumping off into some bushes, as well as a bunch of other stuff he doesn't remember doing. The way I figure, the drug wasn't meant for his drink or it was dropped in by a gay guy. Because, honestly, how many women need to drug a guy at a bar to get him to sleep with them? Oh, and is THAT what "crunk" means? I always thought it was just the name of a particularly awful and creatively bankrupt style of hip hop.
  10. Oh, I'm sure they "helped" you back to the "hotel." Eh? Eh?
  11. Excellent! That site does have an interesting remix of "I'm Ready," that is worth the visit, I'd say. I kinda like it.... more "restrained" than the original version, that's for sure.
  12. Yes. Yes. Yes. Is it their own show in a small club, or a festival? Because if my calculations are correct,
  13. You know, I've heard that! Six small meals a day is better for you and your metabolism than just gorging yourself at dinner, you know! But wait, I'm supposed to give my dog valium? How will that give me a beach-ready physique?
  14. (w00t) Okay, one more before I hit the sack. The Rolling Stones - Can't You Hear Me Knocking
  15. I'm double-posting because apparently nobody listens to music at night... well at least it's night here. and if a ship meets your car you know you can't go real far well they could treat you real nice or put a tracking device waaaaaay down insiiiiiiiide (enter menacing guitar riff)
  16. I'm no jazz scholar but I used to listen to the CBC's jazz program when I was in the mood for some laid-back groovin. They played classical music during the day, jazz at night, and indie rock in the wee hours of the morning. BONUS: Canadian news, too, so I can find out what the crazy northerners are plotting! The Libertines - What a Waster
  17. Kor bought a 360! Now you'll get to play all the cool next-gen games!
  18. Rancid - Nihilism These guys are touring again. With them in September and Social D in October it's turning out to be a punk rock fall.
  19. I remember going tape-to-tape to copy my buddies hit cassettes. It seemed like piracy wasn't as big a deal back then. Although I always liked this t-shirt.
  20. I always loved that expression. Oh, and I agree whole-heartedly. Gateway drug, my left eye! The people who have that self-destructive urge to "move on" will move on anyway. I know plenty of people who stayed right in their comfort zone, so to speak.
  21. Reasons the OLGA should stay up: Tab books are generally only available for the reallly big albums, at least as far as I've seen. And I don't want to subscribe to a guitar magazine to get tabs of "rock" songs I don't want to learn (I already know how to get to drop D tuning, and I'm not interested in memorizing solos). The tabs on OLGA have been posted by Joe Guitarists all over the world. Consequentially, many of them are very, very wrong. Who wants to pay for an amateur's first tab that is not even in the same key as the original. That's not exactly a desirable commodity. And most importantly, reading sheet music is hard. It defeats the purpose of an army of youths who picked up a $100 electric guitar to learn how to "rock out." I'm not denying that it's taking money away from some people, most noticably the people who make money teaching kids how to play guitar. I just think it's a valuable resource that shouldn't get kicked off the internet.
  22. Sweet commercial. And Diet Pepsi is quite addictive, while Diet Coke is just a substitute for the real thing. Pun IN-tended.
  23. Neil Young - Cortez the Killer hate was just a legend and war was never known people worked together and they lifted many stones and they carried them to the flatlands but they died along the way and they built up with their bare hands what we still can't do today and i know she's living there and she loves me to this day i still can't remember when or how i lost my way
  24. Now that's rock and roll. Also, The Finn Brothers - Only Talking Sense I don't think they're from Finland.
