The problem is that it probably wont last me anywhere close to 30 hours.
-
This is a quote from Ferret from a recent interview: Shooting for 30 hours? What the hell kind of campaign is that? I estimate that for hardcore players this number will be much less, as it always is. I estimate that I will be able to finish the game with all the side quests in about 15 hours. (my formula is almost always the minimum hours according to the developer divided by two) What the **** is going on with games nowadays? Why arent game developers focusing on creating large worlds with a lot of interesting sidequests and characters that gamers can immerse themselves in instead of these short displays of advanced graphics? Why the hell do they all cater to the ****ing attention disorder crowd? That even the corpse of those partially responsible for fallout and torment is making a 15 hour dungeon romp is disturbing indeed.

I quit kotor because it was the same ridiculously easy battles over and over again. Bioware is the master of boring combat.

VC, Den, Reno, lots of amazing music there. Mark Morgan is a genius.

Theres a plugin for winamp that will let it play the acm songs. The soundtrack was also released on the interplay website and may still be available for download on some fallout sites. You could also get acm2wav, convert the files in your directory and listen to them.

360 games even more expensive than Xbox ones

These prices are disgusting..... We have similar prices in the third world with only a fraction of the income of rich countries. -
Monolith: Hey, you know what sounds like a good idea? Releasing a Console RPG exclusively for PC! Fans: Actually, that doesn't sound like it'd be a very good idea at... Monolith: ...Hmm, actually, that doesn't seem to have been a very good idea at all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Septerra core was alright... but in the later parts of the game it gets EXTREMELY repetitive. In order to get through some of the areas you have to go back and forth pushing levers and going back and forth from one mazelike level to another to find out what the hell the lever did and whenever you exit a map all the enemies are back and you ahve to play through the very slow and easy combats all over again spending hours and hours..... I beleive that those who designed the game became retarded when they were halfway through.

What is wrong with my posts? Im merely expressing my preferrence for the demonic art in diablo 1 as opposed to the cartoony look of diablo 2. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nothing wrong with them, I just miss all those 'i's ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Be careful what you wish for..... Those I's just might resurface......

Yeah, diablo had excellent atmosphere. Diablo 2 had none of that.

First of all, the three greatest rpgs ever made: torment, fallout, fallout 2. Then you could try the baldurs gate and icewind dale series. If you want action rpgs, then nox, revenant, diablo and diablo 2 are all great. Other than that you can try septerra core.

I want a sequel to diablo. However I dont want some gay and cartoony game like diablo 2. I want a return to the demonic look of diablo 1.

Planescape Torment is the greatest game that has ever been made. Unfortunately some people are incapable of appreciating its greatness. However this is due to problems that these people have rather than anything being wrong with the game. Toee is incredibly boring and useless. I highly recommend that you do not play it. The story is nonexistent and I have tried to play it many times but I have failed. Rather than playing toee, I suggest that you try some old action rpgs like nox, revenant or septerra core. Those are all good games.

Opera is excellent. With the latest version you can customize the whole interface and make it look like whatever you want. I removed all the useless buttons and added in all the ones I needed. Plus you can adjust opera so that certain movements of the mouse or combimations of keys do certain actions, which makes browsing very easy. It has tabs, a popup blocker, and you can zoom into web pages if your resolution is too high, or tile/cascade the windows to have several websites showing at the same time...... Its an amazing browser. And its a hell of a lot faster than IE.

What game(s) would you like to see remade?

Unfortunately, games aren't for nerds anymore

The world is an evil and cruel place. And what you have said is commonly known, and I agree with it. -
That site looks like Herve Caen designed it himself.

There are many other games that I like.

I cant relate with these feelings. In an FPS game, when I fall off a tower or into a lava pit or whatever, I just think, "oh ****, i need to reload", or, "damn, now i will respawn without any weapons". I get immersed in games in a different way. When I have to make difficult moral decisions in games, when the characters are well written and developed, when the story is great and there is a large scope for roleplaying, then, I get immersed. In Torment, Dakkons plight was so sympathetic that I simply could not mistreat him in any of my runs through the game. Even though it was just a game I could not bring myself to call him slave etc. For me, this is immersion.
-
So having to turn around in real life hurts your immersion in the real world then? In real life I can turn around pretty much instantly. In computer games I need to hold down the right arrow and wait while the character slowly spins around.
-
Yep, it is impossible to immerse yourself into the role of one character, but it is possible to imagine that you are 6 people who are having a shared out of body experience with poor vision. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For me these are irrelevant points. Whether I see something from the point of view of the character or from a birds eye perspective has nothing to do with whether I become immersed or not. As far as I am concerned, the main purpose of the camera angle should be to not to hinder immersion. When in NWN I spent more time rotating the goddamned camera than playing the game, that hurt immersion. When I clicked on enemies in kotor, and my character ran up to them and started firing his ranged weapon point blank, that hurt immersion. When I had to constantly keep turning around, that hurt immersion. The worst part of the camera was that it was 'immersing' me in the middle of a world where pretty much everything looked the same. The purpose of the camera angle should be on simplifying the gameplay and making controls easier, not on 'immersion'. Good gameplay, a good story/dialogue and good art are much more important for immersion then some stupid camera angle that makes the game much more frustrating to play.

The aim of this topic is to lament the decline of the isometric perspective since it is quite obvious from the nwn screenshots that it will be 3rd person, which sucks like hell.
-
The music in the caves is not even remotely similar to metal! Diablo 1 had great music though.
-
WTF? Why isnt it in isometric perspective? This sucks.

People complaing about how "easy" Torment's combat was is just an excuse to hide what they really mean... I believe they were just annoyed that you weren't thrust into some battle or another every minute or so like the BGs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That coiuild be it. I have anoither explanatioin thoiuigh: Moiiist peoiple whoi didnt like toiirments coiimbat simply cannoit adjuist toi the fact that they are noit playing an elf wearing chainmail and duial wielding loing swoirds. They then make uip all soirts oif fauilty excuises blaming the coiimibat system oif planescape toirment when in fact the real proiblem is their lack oif ability toii roileplay noin standard fantasy characters in coimibat situiatioinis.
