I've always wondered what a Pimp wears to go golfing. Choose your battles Nonek, you can't seriously be getting upset around the realism factor of character costumes in a fantasy RPG No battle or upset that I know of Bruce, simply making the case for appropriate clothing to the environment. However if the developers choose not to do so that's their perogative, simply a black mark against the game in my view.

Animal companions
Nonek replied to Monte Carlo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
A great Ape might be nice, but thinking of something more unique what about a man or woman? Are Homo Sapiens somehow unsuitable as companions? Morte as the Nameless One's familiar was a fine companion, perhaps Poe might do something similar. -
Oh i'm not Bryy, they dress men in an equally ridiulous fashion.

For the court yes, but being rained upon, trudging through mud in those high heels, being splatted by great waves of blood as is usual in Dragon Age, getting stabbed and what have you would make that utterly ridiculous attire, fit only for an idiot. Hopefully the young lady will change when venturing out with the protagonist, maybe some sturdy warm leathers and wools that fit the climate rather than the court. I certainly hope they're not going to depict women as morons who can't even dress properly again, it would be rather telling.

Good lord, I thought that their art design couldn't get any worse after DA2, I was wrong seemingly.

The wife stills uses a few Yorkshire idioms now and then. Owt = Anything. Nowt = Nothing. Example: Owt to lend? Nowt! Daft = Silly, moronic. Banjo = Strike, punch. Lamp = As Banjo. Example: I'm gonna banjo that daft beggar! E's not worth lamping. Scrattin = Searching/gathering. Shrapnel = Small coins. Example: Owt to lend? Sod off! I've been scrattin for shrapnel all week me'sen. Snap = Meal, usually partaken of at work. Scran = Any kind of food. Example: Wot's she packed up for thee snap? Nowt, 'ad a mountain o scran this morning. I can't attest to the spelling.

Who's to say that any of the NPC's will find the protagonist attractive? Or must they always do so, no matter their character or orientation? -

Personally i've just never seen it handled well Mr Miyagi, i'd like to be wrong but to be honest it just really does not appeal to me in any way shape or form when presented in a video game, it always seems mawkish and grubby and awfully immature. Obviously most of these are the results of poor writing, such as the overblown melodramatic teenage romances we see in all of the Bioware games, where it is just blatant pandering to the protagonist. But even when well written there is something slightly uncomfortable about such things for me, humourless and painful as they are. Strangely enough the people who pursue them seem to operate in a similar manner, taking a little gentle mockery or criticism as some great strike against them and everything they cherish, it's just a little tongue in cheek fun. There are an almost infinite variety of methods to interact with other characters, and Obsidian are masters of doing just that, whether it's speaking to your own transplanted brain, summoning up the ghost of long dead Nolaloth, smashing an informants head into the bar of a Russian drinking den, arguing philosophy with a crippled but terrifyingly strong Sith Lord, listening to the Stories Bones Tell or learning the Circles from an old Zerth who you saved and damned. In comparison a few overemotional utterances seem like a small thing indeed, i'd rather save them for my wife and real life where they are meant to be spoken, in private. -

Refraining from the gentle ribbing we've been indulging in and being serious for a moment, personally I think that if the protagonist grew to respect and value a companion over the course of Poe, then the expansion and there was some manner of relationship developing in the sequel it would be a far more organic process than clumsily wedging in a relationship over the course of one turbulent period after they've first met. Mrs Nonek and I were engaged in our courtship for quite a long period, and gradually grew closer over time, then again i'm extraordinarily ugly and have little to no personality so it may be different for handsome vibrant individuals. -
I'm hoping for some news on Alvin/Jacques personally and why Eredin wanted him, though I don't believe that import decision is carried over since you can save and import anywhere from the White Frost onwards.

More unique content for each playthrough, real choice and consequence, the option to see two sides of a conflict and influence it, to familiarise yourself with different characters, the chance to explore different locales and their inhabitants? I suppose you could argue for any of these and probably more, but if you don't like the branching plot that's probably not going to sway you. Considering they've touted three different endings each in a unique area i'm fairly certain that there's going to be unique content for every playthrough and the choices one makes, they might even be having import factors from the first game come into play.

Godlike imagery and lore
Nonek replied to ItinerantNomad's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'd agree with Flintlock Jazz, breeding within the mortal parent species seems eminently more viable. I quite like the various Godlike we've seen so far, hopefully they're going to get even weirder, more outlandish and Del Toro-ish. I've no doubt they'll be a popular choice but personally unless one piques my interest more significantly i'll probably stick with one of the more mundane species. -

We do gods work. For it shall be written: Drive forth the promancer and cast him from thy garden, for he is deviant and without virtue. Suffer not his kind to live among thee, for verily he shall bring forth wedding mods. And thou shalt know this villain by his cry, the cry of squee.- 562 replies

Don't look at it as removing a romance option, simply look at it as making characters with a little integrity and self respect who aren't just fodder for the protagonists depraved urges. Oh and once again hahahahaha. -
Erh, I don't want to take credit that's not mine, I'm merely sharing that Josh has uploaded new videos after quite some time. I think I meant linking, i'm not sure though as i'm not au-fait with modern terminology, I still have no idea what zomg means.

Drunk and sit system?
Nonek replied to FilipeJF's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I always find it strange that I could do this twenty years ago in Ultima, and yet for the vast majority of modern games i'm limited to combat and conversation. I suppose it's just another sign of the steady decline and deterioration that the medium has been suffering from, in fairness the Black Gate's combat was automated and horribly simplified compared to the earlier iterations. A sign of things to come I wonder. I always liked sitting in the Blue Boar of an afternoon and watching the inhabitants of Britain come and go, eating, drinking, gossiping, and forming the little house band that played in the corner. Patterson off to his mistress, the Fellowship off to hear Batlin preach etcetera. Lent a real air of verisimillitude that one could easily lose themsleves in. -

Half the fun of games is rididuling those who take them too seriously, whether that be open letters, cosplay, virtual romancers, biased views or whatever. Personally I intend to keep laughing while they keep being ridiculous. Always look on the bright side of virtual life eh? I'm surprised nobody's brought out the LEAVE BIOWARE ALONE! gifs yet, i'm sure they exist.

Personally I wouldn't say horrible but flawed, as many games are, but I respect your opinion and can see why you hold it. I always felt that the game should have been set in Kuldahar from the beginning, with the hints and background all about and slowly being revealed and making sense, set to the backdrop of the Legion of the Chimera besieging the Druid enclave. I have to admit when I heard Underdark in the game I rolled my eyes, sighed and muttered something obscene. I'm a little burned out on the place.
