  1. Herrr, no. The party system alone makes DS1 a lot closer to DA2 than DS3 ever will be. ...What?... I'm sorry, but I have to know how you came to that conclusion , heh.
  2. Ahhh, yes. Giant bomb. That will be one place I check for a good DS3 review. =)
  3. Heh, the OP probably is a troll. I get that feeling, at least. Eh... Unfortunately I have the feeling that this is only the beginning of the trolling, too (for either side). Kind of sad to see the DS3 forum get so ugly. =P If all the things we've heard so far are true; the outrage on release day will blot out the sun. Hah! I doubt all the rumors are true... I have a hard time believing what pirates have to say. Especially without proof.
  4. Hmmm... That's a good point. I guess that's why players made mods like Eastern Sun, then (which in my opinion is much better than DS2 by itself). =)
  5. Eh, I disagree. Granted, they could have done much better I think (and balanced out the characters more evenly), but play the game without the patches and tell me if it's nearly as fun (it isn't for me, at least). Besides, there are very few RPGs that altered the core game as much as D2's patches (at least as far as official patches go).
  6. Aye. Those didn't come until later patches, though. When they did they breathed new life into that game... Probably one of the best patches a game has ever had, in my own personal opinion. =P
  7. Okay, heres an analogy. Now everyones has heard of Lord the Rings. lets suppose the producers of the movie just released LOTR part3, but part3 doesn't have frodo, or the ring, or even sauron. Now using your logic we should still pay to watch part 3 because it doesn't have to be the same to be enjoyable. Thats a really dumb analogy since DSIII very well continues DSIs Narrative and World (and does so with lots of lore) while DSII focused on a different part narrativly. The main difference is gameplay after all. I think the point he was trying to get across were the gameplay elements, since those were the binding elements of the game (for fans at least). The parts removed could be portrayed as Frodo = easily accessable modding tools, the ring = persistent multiplayer, and Sauron = character customization... Maybe I'm wrong in my interpretation, though. =P No insults intended... Those are just what I think he is trying to get across.
  8. Ever tried Book of unwritten Tales and Whispered World? Adventures are still going strong in Europe. Damn, really?! I wish I would have known that sooner... =P
  9. ther first one i ever played was bards tale on the spectrum. didnt like it really. was more into games like knight lore and other stuff back then. tinkered around with a few others like lords of midnight and stuff (didnt have a clue what was going on in that game) first rpg i ever truly loved was dungeon master on the atari st, quickly superceded by the amiga version of the same game. and then my passion for rpgs took off, and ive been buying everyone of them ever since. missed some though which sucks. but have got the originals of DS1 & 2 plus classic collections which include the expansions with the originals bundled in. my passion for rpgs was only rivalled at one point by my passion for point & click adventures which started with monkey island when someone told me to try it out. wait.... you werent talking to me?? A little off topic... Have you ever played Grim Fandango? If not, I highly recommend it if you like the point and click adventures (although, in this game there's no pointing and clicking. The controls are horrible. Like Resident Evil 2... But slogging through them is worth it just for how good the atmosphere/story is in that game). i certainly have. still got the original somewhere in the loft. the best adventure i ever played was the longest journey though. i didnt know anything about the game and just saw it lying on a shelf in Currys of all places. i looked at the back of the box, it looked like an adventure game so i bought it and was the best thing id played for ages. didnt like longest journey 2 though. :/ my passion for adventures has waned a bit now, just cant seem to get the level of immersion i can find in rpgs in an adventure. la noire comes close though. but still too much action and not enough puzzles for me. I've never heard of that game... I'll go check it out, thanks. =)

  11. Not really... Champions of Norrath had persistent multiplayer characters, both locally and online. I can't remember if it had PvP, but I know for sure that it's sequel did, "Return to Arms". Both CoN and it's sequel were great games, I think.
  12. Well said. I hope you enjoy your purchase. =)

  14. I would disagree with you in a few areas, but ultimately I agree that DS3 did some things better than the previous DS games. It definitely is a fun game, I think. =) What do you think about the differences in multiplayer and the exclusion of modding in DS3 though? I'm curious. =)
  15. My question really wasn't sarcastic. Are you saying that content is unavailable to people with less achievements? I'm asking a serious question here, I had a hard time understanding what you wrote. I just don't get why a trophy would be a deciding factor for buying a game, I would imagine being able to play through the game with a friend would trump any need to collect trophies. There are those who genuinely like to play games for the sole purpose of getting every achievement/trophy that the game has. I have a friend who's like that... To be honest, I don't know how he does it. I would be bored to tears, heh. As far as I know there are no in game rewards for collecting achievements for this game. There are some games, though, that do actually give in game rewards.
  16. Some people enjoy collecting them. Other than that, not really.
  17. Hmm, where to start... Whereas the other games put you into a rather find super cool weapons and armor...this game has it where the super weapons and stuff aren't as random nor as frequent. It stated that the monsters would drop their gear, and this is true...but what they have is what they drop...which means I get ten thousand rusty swords at the start (slight exaggeration) for every mystical one or upgraded one I get. The leveling doesn't really hit as significant as Diablo (it's DEEPER and MORE INTENSE fans will say), but didn't strike me in any way. However, the biggest sin...and this is the REAL reason...is because it was boring. I can't really say why it was boring. A lot of the Diablo Copycats are boring, even if they have all the telltale signs such as item drops, the similar leveling, etc. I got bored within the first three hours, and I kept pressing on hoping that it would get better. It didn't. It was sooooo very boring to play that I really had to say it was a waste of time. The same would go for other Diablo clones I played such as throne of Darkness, Nox...etc. Most Diablo thrones don't impress me much. I didn't even like the original Sacred (though Sacred 2 was okay on the PS3 simply because it was so sandbox, but otherwise was also rather boring). In truth the only ones that I enjoyed I listed above, simply because somehow they replicated fun...while most clones don't. Huh, I see. Thanks. =)
  18. Didn't champions of Norath and Champions: Return to Arms have 4 player Co-op?
  19. Wait wait... Let me get my tub of popcorn first... Ok, got it. Flame on!
  20. That's hardly something fans should be happy about if the resurrected franchise doesn't resemble what they were hoping for in the slightest. To answer the OP, it was Square Enix that preferred to go with the Dungeon Siege brand instead of a new IP Obsidian pitched and proposed the high level concept I think (at least that's what I gathered from various interview both from Obsidian and Square Enix) though I don't think that the concept was anything more than "let's go with an hack'n'slash for consoles". Not that Obsidian is free of blame anyway, they designed the game and decided to go with the direction they went for. Well said.
  21. I had no problems with TitanQuest, but I disagree with the idea that it was the Best Diablo since Diablo...it was one of the worst in my opinion. Dungeon Siege 2 was probably closest to being the best in my opinion. Then comes Torchlight 2. Fate was far better than Titan Quest. If you go consoles, BG:DA 1, BGDA 2, Champion of Norath, X-men legends, X-men legends 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, and Justice League Heroes (though some with different themes than straight fantasy of Diablo) were ALL better then TQ by far, and some on par with the original Diablo and Diablo 2. I finally got Titanquest when it was 10 USD for it and the expansion, just to see if it was any good (tried the Demo and was definately NOT impressed). In my opinion, the reason Titanquest didn't sell as well as this guy thought it was, is because IT STUNK!!! If many were like me, it simply wasn't that good of a game...period. I thought so from the Demo, and when I got the full game because so many claimed it was so great...it wasn't. It still stunk, just now I had a useless CD that I'd never play. I didn't even hear about bugs, that's how uninterested in the game I was. The guy is complaining because I would hazard a majority of the Diablo player type crowd thought TQ was junk...not because of any bug heresay they got from pirates. We didn't buy it because we didn't like what we saw in the first place from the actual sellers of the game. Of course I still hear those who love TQ, but from what the guy is saying about how it didn't sell as well as they thought it would, tells me perhaps there are more who share my opinion of the game than I previously thought, they just aren't as vocal as many forumgoers. Hmmm... I haven't played Titan Quest, but I've heard a lot about it. Can you tell me what about it you didn't like?
  22. I think they were trying to make it easier for console players... It doesn't really bother me that much, personally, but more active skills would have been nice. =)
  23. Yah, she was fun as a mage... I think Reinhardt will be more my style, though. =) And yes Big Bottom. You can play the game on PC with a controller (2 if you want to play co-op on the same PC)
  24. No...I've been noticing it with Anjali's "normal" staff attacks. Hmmm... I played her in the demo more like a mage, so I guess I never really noticed that. I hope that doesn't seem to be a reoccurring theme in the different characters. It probably won't, but in a game like this, being able to act on split decisions responsively is important to me. I think I'll play her as a melee and see how I like it.
  25. You make a really good point. In some of the reviews, complaints have been made about the controls, though. Whether or not the retail versions (and not the review versions) will feature these controls and freedom to bind keys, or whether or not they will be fixed in a patch, I don't know... We will see. As for the locked attack animation, are you talking about Lucas with his two handed sword stance? That's pretty damn annoying for me, as well. Attacking twice and aborting the third strike (usually by rolling away) seems to work for me, though. In normal you can get away with spamming the attack button, but in hardcore you have to really be careful about taking hits (which is easy to do when you can't control your character for 1 second). That's been my experience, at least.
