  1. Dark Knight was sold out, checking it out tomorrow at 4. In the meantime, Watchmen trailer hit the web: http://www.empireonline.com/video/watchmen/ and it looks fantastic.
  2. Saw Hellboy 2. Better than the first one, and I quite liked the first one.
  3. Me and a guy at work were discussing this. There was an article in one of the free papers that talked about how kids don't watch TV and the average age for a Family Guy viewer is 29 and such. And we found that while some have families and such, most people we know in the 25-35 age group tend to have a very similar mindset to when we were teenagers. We figured it had a lot to do with the stuff we were exposed to when we were growing up. The huge amount of quality cartoons and franchises that we grew up with gave the generation that grew up in the 80s a lot more of their childhood to hold on to than say the 70s. And with the 80s revival constantly renewing more and more stuff from our childhood, its easier than ever to act like a kid when you're in your 30s. Also, there isn't as much pressure from society to "Act your age".
  4. explain "fundamentalist christian" please When I say "fundamentalist christian" I tend to think of the whackjob christians like the southern baptists who protest gay funerals and such. I know not all fundamentalist christians are like that, but the bible has some pretty awful crap in it that is ok if its looked at as something to be interpreted, but fundamentalists view it as absolute fact.
  5. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto.../National/home/ So basically, a woman in Manitoba had her kids taken away because her daughter drew a swastika on her arm at school and when people objected, she supported her daughter. Now I'm no supporter of white supremecism, but this seems to be a freedom of speech issue here. Sure she's teaching her children some bad things, but thats really not much different from fundamentalist christians teaching their kids that gays are bad, or muslims teaching that jews are bad, and you don't see people's kids taken away for that. Freedom of expression is something I feel strongly about, I'm very anti-censorship etc. and despite not sharing this womans views, I believe she has every right to express them and expose her children to such beliefs. If her children aren't morons, as they mature and grow up in a multicultural environment, they'll see the flaws in the teachings. This also brings up something else that has bothered me. If someone opened a business that only catered to Japanese, Korean, Mexican, Black, etc. this would be seen as something unique and interesting, where if someone opened a business that catered only to whites, it would be considered racist and wrong. Much like if you wanted to start say a club that only allowed a female membership this would largely be accepted, yet a men only club would be decried as sexist. Why does it seem like in todays society you can be proud of who you are as long as you aren't a white male?
  6. Today I joined the HD revolution and got myself a new TV. Impulse buy. Got a 46" Sharp Aquos. Very nice.
  7. Meet the Spartans was actually pretty funny which surprised the hell out of me.
  8. I was a bigger fan of Mitch Hedberg, and he died young rather than having a full life. Still a sad passing though.
  9. How do you get single arms? I've seen some of the maxis created beasties with one arm, but don't know how its done...
  10. Well, current list of games I'm looking foreward to is: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed NWN2: Storm if Zehir NWN2: Mysteries of Westgate Fable 2 Alpha Protocol Brutal Legend Spore Dragon Age
  11. Yeah, thats the disappointing part. And the pics they have of the various options don't really correspond to how they're applied, so you basically have to select all of them to see what they're like. If you buy the full version, doesn't that supposedly get you 5$ off the full game? It might be worth the 10$ to get all the options until the game comes out.
  12. Apparently the trial only has 1/4 the options. That looks about right from the number of locked things I've seen. But even with that I've managed to create a big 4 armed bipedal beastie, a big bug, a cute little feathered lizard, and a creepy 3 eyed 3 armed lizard thing.
  13. Got the trial version of the Spore creature creator(go bit torrent), and am now even more psyched for that. My only problem is that its not possible to create a creature that isn't cute in some way.
  14. More head models. More hair models. More weapon models. More armor models. Rework some tint maps so some of the cooler armor models can be recolored.
  15. Went to the midnight showing of Incredible Hulk. Marvel is two for two. Far better than the first one. Hulk's origin is actually pretty easy to tell in a 45 second montage, freeing up the rest of the movie for awesomeness.
  16. http://www.geocities.com/zhentar2003/toril_2.jpg Its a little better when viewed as a whole.
  17. Lawyer? Apparently law school is super easy, its actually trying to become a lawyer thats hard. Do you have a specialty or just a general law degree?
  18. I'd classify it as more of an action rpg than a full hack and slash, theres significantly more story and non-combat options than say Diablo, but not enough focus on non-combat options to call it a full RPG. Again, its a fun little romp, as long as you don't take it too seriously. So far with Fable 2 it looks like Molyneux is doing it right. Keeping tight lipped on the features until they're implemented so as to not overhype it.
  19. At the price its at now its worth it. Just don't buy into the hype. Its a fun, charming action RPG, but nothing groundbreaking.
  20. It's better than in San Andreas, but nothing can ever equal Vice City's soundtrack. I thought San Andreas was a lot better. I find most of the stuff here is very unmemorable. If thats even a word...
  21. does anyone else think this one has the weakest soundtrack since GTA 3? I find myself sticking it on the russian station most of the time because its the only one with more than one good song.
  22. It was sposed to be a real-time 4X game. Previews and such made it look kind of like Master of Orion and Homeworld combined. What we got was much less satisfying.
  23. I actually found it kind of boring.
  24. Crackdown was almost good. If it had a story and mission structure it would have been awesome, but it gets old fast when your entire objective is to kill gang members and thats it.
  25. I wasn't a fan of the user interface. It was too big and not as intuitive as the EU3 interface. Doing several construction projects at once is a pain
