  1. I've pruned this thread rather than closing it down. Please try to stay on-topic and be constructive.
  2. I really think it's time the Obsidian vs BioWare boards arguements stop; it's not helping anything, it's not getting anything accomplished and it's all completely pointless, really. Some people will prefer one board, other will prefer another; it's impossible to have a situation that is agreeable to all sides.
  3. This is quite off-topic for the KOTOR forum.
  4. Locked for what should be more than obvious reasons.
  5. So we're done with this then? Good.
  6. We're not trying to advance mankind here.
  7. Hopefully there'll be some real developer commentary on the game, and what's definately in and functional, and other concrete info to work on. Until then, there's going to be a lot of redundancy while people get "caught up". Rhomal's FAQ is excellent, but people don't read FAQs, and fretting over people not reading them is only going to make you more antagonised.
  8. Actually, I have no problem with Affleck, and I thought he was fine as Daredevil/Matt Murdock. What I didn't like about Daredevil was it's poor execution; there seemed to be so much cut out and missing, that nothing really fit together very well. All through the film, I kept thinking that dialogues and scenes were not complete. Perhaps the director's cut restores that missing material. I also hated the Elektra and Bullseye characters, and not only because I don't like those actors; I found their portrayal to be weak (in the case of Garner) and ridiculous (in the case of Farrell). There was a lot of good stuff in the movie, and the darker edge it had was very nice to see (it's not everyday we see our crimefighter hero crunching away on a mouthful of painkillers), but that edge wasn't maintained throughout the movie. I guess I just felt there was a lot of missed potential, or a failure to live up to the potential that was there.
  9. October 31 is Hallowe'en.
  10. I've only just started going to the Bioware forums since the NWN2 move, so I'm not familiar with the posting habits of it's members. However, from what I've seen so far, I can't agree with your assessments Memengwa. I think in terms of maturity or coherent/intelligent posts, and the opposite thereof, both boards are pretty much on par. Now, that's only comparing the NWN2 discussions; I don't know how their other fora hold up in comparison. For the most part, there seem to be more intelligent posts on both boards than not, at least as far as NWN2 discussion goes.
  11. The FF movie has been in the works for so long now, I hope the final results are worthwhile. The images in the trailer look good; it doesn't necessarily look like the FF that I know (which isn't much, I was never a big FF fan), but then that may be neither here nor there. I've heard that but I really don't know if I can sit through it again. And the director's cut didn't cut out Garner or Farrell, so it can't be that good.
  12. *random outbursts of excitement and other embarrassing sounds of joy* As for the FF film.. the trailer is garbage. Not that the film looks bad, it looks all right, but whoever put that trailer together should be shot.
  13. I tried the demo for Dungeon Siege and hated it, but I've been reading some good ideas from Gas Powered about DS2; I think they're moving in a good direction with it. As long as it's a game you fully play, and not watch, then I think it may be good.
  14. What really bugged me about the end portions of the game was that it was more confining, I felt. The game until then had been fairly open, but suddenly the player is forced into a narrow path. Not that the game was open-ended or non-linear, it certainly was, but I felt that suddenly I was more confined or dragged along. And I hated the combat in the game. Absolute button-mashing.
  15. I don't think we need to be picking apart other boards here; it's not exactly productive or necessary. I understand there's a lot of upset and irritation right now, but perhaps that "posting energy" could be better spent. There's a lot of talk about the boards dying, people going away, not wanting to come/stay/go wherever, but that's accomplishing nothing except making things worse. If you really want these boards to flourish, perhaps post something more constructive. I know with the NWN2 fora gone, there's not much to talk about here save for venting, but I would request it be pulled back a bit for the good of the boards in general. Personally, I'd like to see these boards be a good place to talk about stuff, so if we could work towards that, rather than general crankiness, I think it'd be for the best.
  16. Well, there is still an RPG forum here, and NWN2 is an RPG........
  17. Likewise
  18. The decision was made to not say anything in advance, because we knew there'd be people upset, and we wanted to keep the outcry to a minimum. My understanding was the hope was people would just go with it at the point of the move, rather than being up in arms in the days leading up to the move before going with it.
  19. Wheee!!! I vote for TORN! I miss the sidhe. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *sigh* I said NOT a new game announcement. Stop manipulating my words
  20. I hear you, and of course it's all something utterly out of my hands. The best I can do is attempt to relay information (I've brought stuff up in the Mod forum as well, stuff that you guys have suggested and commented on) at this point. Basically I just want to point out that the collective "you guys" are not being ignored.
  21. We're looking at having something to fill the gap, so to speak. Some ideas have apparently come from Obsidian internally in regards to having something in place of the NWN2 fora (no, not a new game announcement!). Perhaps a more dedicated CRPG fora or something like that. I'll do my best to keep people posted on what's going on.
  22. I think this thread has pretty much breached the spam quotient
  23. It was a marketing decision by Atari. They felt it would be prudent for the NWN "community" to be located in one place, rather than spread over two seperate sites. It has nothing to do with Bioware taking over or Obisidian not being able to afford the bandwidth or anything like that.
  24. This thread is a disaster.
  25. My point was the television ratings (regardless of broadcasted content) are of such importance that airing quality material often takes a back seat to pushing out something people will watch. News broadcasting is suffering in viewership these days, and news outlets are looking for ways to get people to watch and keep them watching; making it entertaining (in whatever manner, be it confrontational or not) is of high importance. Yes, there are news casts that do not do this, but then there are those that do. Fox's confrontational and/or controversial analysts are a big draw, people like to watch them. Whether they skew facts or present a biased perspective is all part of it. Spicing up the news has been with us as long as news has, there's no arguing that, so nothing really is new now, but but I personally find putting people on the air as news analysts purely for their "entertainment value" to be questionable, and in my opinion, not good news reporting. I don't like news analysts in general, I never have, regardless of their leaning. I prefer that sort of thing in political satire rather than in the news.
