  1. I'm enjoying your updates about Arcanum. I have never played the game but it sounds fun. How long with all the side quests do you think the game will take a person to complete?
  2. No it will be fine, haven't you seen the latest PE update? Obsidian has perfected cloning and there will be two Chris Avellone's in the unlikely, but hopeful, event that Torment reaches $3.5 million. So we won't see the PE experience diluted in any respects.
  3. Yeah, that machine (Dungeons & Dragons) ate a whole bunch of my quarters too, that and X-Men vs. Street Fighter. You guys are lucky that your lived in a country that had arcade games like that, due to sanctions certain things were restricted living in South Africa....poor me
  4. I got excited when I saw "Dungeons and Dragons" but then I read its a release of an old arcade game so now my view is "meh"
  5. Oh my hat !!! Did you forget you were on leave?
  6. Good point Its good to see such synergy between developers
  7. Hurlshot please do not fall for the "heart strings being pulled and I'm a cute kid KS" subterfuge. I agree it doesn't seem right, I was genuinely worried you were going to tell us you felt that your $100 was going to a good RPG in development Phewwww...stress over for me
  8. Even though that makes sense if they just singled out the Russians if would be seen as discrimination and there credibility as a reliable investment country would be effected. Also the Russians own about 30 % of all the money in the banks in Cyprus so they wouldn't want to annoy them. What has been suggested is a tax on any deposit over 100k Euros. So that shouldn't impact the average person
  9. This doesn't seem like an option anymore. The Russians aren't interested in the natural gas, not oil, that can be found in Cyprus. And to compound the woes of Cyprus I now see that Russia has said they won't be bailing out the Cyprians as its not a good investment. Geeeeee thats a surprise, Russia not helping out another country when they have nothing really to gain
  10. I'll take DRM-free over cloud saving any day. I don't dislike Steam at all but I always try to support GOG when I can, so I'll purchase PE through GOG in this case
  11. Now thats a different story, I would donate towards a cute cat project
  12. "train that had mysteriously disappeared" I know its not funny but that must have really irritated Danish taxpayers
  13. I have issue with a 9 year old making a KS, I am finding it annoying. I am surprised her parents are letting her contribute to projects that discuss adult themes. Are we now going to be bombarded with every sad or cute KS by people? For me this undermines what KS is. Seriously what does a 9 old know or understand about the design of KS projects. Let her play with her toys and at the appropriate age and skill level she can join a development studio and get some hands on experience. Then make a KS that people can take seriously
  14. Hi All I have been following this story closely as it has quickly became a crisis for Cyprus In summary the Cyprians need a bailout, about 10 Billion Euros, to prevent banks and financial institutions from failing. The Cyprian parliament rejected the loans terms from the EU as this loan had the condition that there would be a tax on all people who had deposited money into any Cyprian banks. I can understand this, but the EU wants to tax the money of wealthy Russians who have hidden Billions of Euros in Cyprian banks. Anyway the EU has now given Cyprus till Monday to agree to the bailout terms or it will cancel any current funding that is keeping Cyprus alive. If this happens the Cyprus economy will collapse. See the link below for an informative summary of the crisis http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/aebf3e16-913b-11e2-b4c9-00144feabdc0.html#axzz2OFzlNjCv What do you guys think, are you worried this could impact other EU countries or do you now think its time countries were kicked out the EU for not managing there economies? I'm sure we have some Cyprian members on this forum, I know Melk lives there sometimes. To be fair to Cyprus part of there financial issues are caused by the fact there banks had massive investments in Greece, and we all know the Greek story
  15. Okay, thanks. That answers my question nicely
  16. Okay but what is his involvement, is he a Dev or a Moderator or involved in Marketing? Its always good to get views, if possible, from people part of any KS or gaming project
  17. Thats good to know, I would think they do share a common respect for each other. It reminds me of some of my favorite fantasy writers, like Steven Erikson and George R R Martin, you often see other writers endorsing there novels like Stephen R. Donaldson For the most part, yeah, especially if studios are close together. The Blizzard and Interplay guys used to get along great, and now inXile and Obsidian are pretty close. BioWare's a bit further away geographically and that tends to be a factor more than anything, heh, but in my experience it's a lot more likely for there to be bad blood between producers and creative people or producers and producers than between creative people and creative people. Good points especially around the geography, quick question Brother. Are you involved in Numenera at all? You always seems to have some interesting and relevant views around the game.
  18. http://www.portalarium.com/images/docs/Words%20Taken%20Out%20of%20Context.pdf Here is some good insight from Richard Garriot into designing game worlds and him clarifying a ccontroversial comment he made.
  19. I am always interested in whether people like Gaider and McComb really like each other. There must be loads of professional rivalry and even on a personal level I'm sure all these writers want to be known by the fans as the "best Fantasy RPG writer ever". They all are so talented but sometimes I assume there style gets dictated to by a Publisher?
  20. I'm about 15 hours into Far Cry 3 and the game is brilliant. I love the way they have truly designed the whole open world and immersiveness of the game world. I find myself just wondering off and exploring or getting into a hang-glider and just flying. This really is a game thats worth the money you pay for it
  21. Or he could get publishers to actually fund the old-school games he wants to make. Little Kid CEO in limo - "Brian, we'd like you to make Starflight 3" Brian Fargo - "Let me guess, you want it to be a linear first person shooter" Little Kid CEO - "Nope, make it just like Starflight 1 & 2, but with updated graphics and UI, oh and make it for PC, Mac, and Linux only." Brian Fargo - *jaw drops* Or, alternatively, and MUCH more realistically, when Wasteland 2 releases, and if it is well received and a success, he can stop playing us vs. them and just pitch it as "we made this really cool game using Kickstarter, now we want to make another". Or, he could just find something else to gripe about publishers. End of the day this is what I am hoping for. The result of KS is to convince some Publishers that there is a market of PC based CRPG. It would be great to have the enthusiasm and skills of the likes of Brian Fargo making the game how he wants but the financial backing of Ubisoft Oh Keyrock, you are funny "Brian Fargo - "Let me guess, you want it to be a linear first person shooter" Little Kid CEO - "Nope, make it just like Starflight 1 & 2, but with updated graphics and UI, oh and make it for PC, Mac, and Linux only." Brian Fargo - *jaw drops*
  22. Reminds I have to force myself to finish that, think I'm at the Gollop chamber. Then I can free up that HD space. A day off for 'Human Rights Day' ? Bunch of slackers, tsk. You should at least celebrate it by doing something like handing out pamphlets for awareness or something. Reminds me of back home though, they're smart and give days off like candy Well we do have fantastic barbeque's and drink loads, so at least we put some effort in on this public holiday. And you know that a barbecue is hard work !!!
  23. Doesn't sound as fun as going around and beating up a few deviants... Joking aside, my current host country doesn't exactly have a stellar human rights record. For fun, look up the referendum of 1967 (which later resulted in the aboriginal population being "reclassified" from 'Flora and Fauna' to 'Human Beings'). Yeah, the Australians also have a some somewhat checkered past when it comes historical treatment of the original inhabitants. Its the same as the Americans actually We do take this day seriously on certain levels and its a remembrance of the Sharpeville massacre http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharpeville_Massacre
  24. I like it, sign me up
  25. Why are you mad at me explaining and clarifying my argument? I thought that's what forums were for? I didn't mean my posts to be aggressive or belittling. If that's how they came off, then I apologize. My bad. I have no intention of buying any console any time soon, regardless of whether they force always-online or not. No your post was perfectly polite and reasonable, no need to apologize. I share your sentiment, no Console games ever. PC games to the end !!!!
