Good question, I move onto the next issue. Remember Hiro I can't be everywhere at once..I need to spread my efforts to different targets if warranted. Also you don't want to go on and on about the same issue, I found this is unhelpful as people tend to get annoyed to keep getting reminded about something. So the better way is to raise awareness on multiple issues

I have to say this is a very unexpected, but pleasing, result Result is otherwise very good but if it didn't also mean that my bet failed miserably Elerond I am sorry you lost money but gambling is a vice and sin and you shouldn't be doing it, let this be an important lesson going forward !!! Don't worry, I haven't been wrong so far: So TN do you think you are going to get behind your team for the rest of the World Cup, nothing quite like an amazing and unexpected victory to increase that patriotic fervour

Holy Smoke Barti !!!! That's hectic, do you think a virus caused it? Make sure you do a full scan and confirm your definitions are updated

Yeah, the outrage here is the way Ubisoft shot themselves in the foot and then just continued to saw off the leg. But hey, it's easier to just say "women should just shut the f**** up", so here we are. I'm not saying in any way, shape, or form that is what you have been saying, Calax; but the general message has been distorted in order to just simply rag on them females. OTOH, I get the feeling that journalist were out for blood after seeing that "AC: Unity didn't have no women"(something that could easily be patched in or given as a free DLC) and decided to make them suffer for it. Quite frankly this whole thing (the entire SJW crusade) is just childish and counterproductive, they been at it for years and all they've got to show for it is how many people they've grieved. Or how many grandstanding praise was given for little to nothing done. @ Orog Your cynicism makes me laugh Personally for me if I thought raising issues of SJ was pointless I would stop doing it. But I only see the awareness increasing and companies taking considerations like inclusivity more seriously. Yes I agree sometimes I know my intentions are misplaced but I think the greater cause of SJ gets more things right than wrong

Yeah creating carnage on the elephant does look fun. I also like the usage of the crossbow. FC4 looks good, very good

I hear you, I'll be watching the game on and off tonight
-
Big game tonight for your country against your old enemy of the last world cup final. You must be looking forward to it ?

Also bad press helps to improve things so I see it as constructive if it is valid

Okay that makes sense, I can see from your perspective why you aren't that comfortable playing a game like GTA. For me I enjoy the pseudo- realism of the cities and cultures, like the hilarious radio stations that you can listen to that create a parody of issues that our modern society grapples with. I have heard some of the funniest things I have ever heard in my life on those shows, like Martin talk show that you can tune into
-
Okay that worries me when someone of your reasonable and modest temperament also says that won't touch the franchise. If you don't mind explaining what are the issue you have with the GTA games?

I'm hard pressed to see how this is an inequality in any way that warrants outrage (putting aside how everyone on the Internet is a Daily Mail reader in terms of that). I guess it's inequality in the game universe where those female NPCs can't be assassins....but that universe doesn't actually exist. Women can play the game and enjoy it for what it is, no ? I always find it interesting when the typical response to some issue of inequality is something like "no need to stress or make a big deal about it, there must be a reason for it. SJW just need to stop making an issue about something that is not an issue" It's a video game, hence "no need to make a big deal about it". If women were being denied jobs IRL based solely on their gender then it would be reason to make a big deal about it. As for the "video games need more female heroes" stance, I don't necessarily disagree, though I'd argue that stabbing people in the neck isn't particularly heroic. As an aside, I really liked the idea of Assassin's Creed: Liberation, in part due to the fact that the protagonist was a woman of color, and seemed like she could be a truly interesting character. It's too bad that game was the very definition of mediocrity. The issue of no female representation in the game is not going to change the situation in Ukraine or address the problem of poverty in Africa, so you guys are spot on in that regard with it not being a big deal But since we are talking about gaming on a gaming website and this issue was raised by numerous prominent websites like Eurogamer and RPS I would say it is a big deal in the gaming world for some people. This of course is subjective but the issue of gender equality is relevant and popular talking point, so if you look at it from that perspective its certainly a big deal. But I ám not suggesting we crucify Ubisoft and boycott there games, all I am saying is this is something they need to pay more attention to

Wow, that's cheeky..very cheeky But you right, the GTA franchise should have a female protagonist. But those games are my guilty pleasure, I am still going to play them. I hope I don't let you down

And this is not necessarily directed at your comment Keyrock but more of a general observation to the standard response I hear from some people

... how did you come to that conclusion? Bester is really just being dismissive of any suggestion around inclusivity for the entire fanbase. Don't take it too seriously

Makes sense, anyone who doesn't understand the D&D ruleset would be at an initial disadvantage playing games like BG1

European Parliamentary Elections results, major concern?
BruceVC replied to BruceVC's topic in Way Off-Topic
I have been researching this issue, it seems that David Brat ran his campaign primarily on an anti-immigration perspective? With the changing demographics in the USA and the increasing numbers of Latino voters I find this type of strategy anachronistic, surely this can't be a sustainable policy for Republicans going forward or am I missing something? -
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/06/12/assassins-creed-unity-characters/#more-212773 I am glad you raised this issue Bryy. I thinks its a disgrace. If you read the link I provided you'll see how Ubisoft has been caught out when they said "having female characters is too much work"" Please see my response to this above. Although we can't truely know everything because, hey, we're not on the dev teams for any of this. Okay I am not sure we are disagreeing with each other and yes because we don't actually work at Ubisoft we aren't privy to the real reason there aren't any female character options in the game. This shouldn't stop us speculating though and doing some research on the issue? Malc what if time pressures weren't the real issue but the fact that some people at Ubisoft are appealing to a certain demographic? Would that bother you, I know how seriously you take issues of gender equality. See the quote below from RPS "Case in point, former Ubisoft lead animator (including on Assassin’s Creed III) Jonathan Cooper chiming in to observe that “In my educated opinion, I would estimate this to be a day or two’s work. Not a replacement of 8000 animations.” Even more damning if rather less specific is “Man, if I had a dollar for every time someone at Ubisoft tried to bull**** me on animation tech“. Cooper, now at Naughty Dog, has said a few more fascinating obesrvations on the matter, and the general issue of male vs female animation, over here. I do wonder, with my cute little tinfoil hat on, if that’s got something to do with the abrupt change of tune coming out of Ubisoft overnight"

I think the point is that as the number of players/playable characters increases, the omission becomes more noticeable and jarring. In single-protagonist titles it's all rather arbitrary, but with four-player co-op such as in the new AC game, variety becomes more appreciated. By the time you get to larger scale multiplayer games like Unreal Tourney it's an expected feature, and attempting anything else in an MMO would be a ludicrous concept. Females make up 48% of the user base. Ubisoft continuing to unapologetically chase the old demographic is incredibly insulting. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/06/12/assassins-creed-unity-characters/#more-212773 I am glad you raised this issue Bryy. Don't forget using the services of hookers and driving people over in the streets, I typically play a hard core gangster type in GTA games with very little respect for law But I'm sure you don't factor in race, gender or religion into who you steal cars from, who you murder, who you drive over or what hookers you use so that you're still a bastion of (lawless) equality. 100 % correct
