  1. The Romance is good...done ..sold ....you should have said that earlier. Where do I sign-up
  2. Of course its true that you are right on most topics...and you like Romance so that just confirms it
  3. False. There is no correlation between the harshness of winter and my enjoyment of summer. It's a nice thought, but it's untrue. Keyrock you do need to try to see the positive, you could be living in the Arctic circle...don't you think the snow would be worse there?
  4. Yeah, I checked the latest pictures of Twin Elms and I think it looks very picturesque and an exciting place to have a few cold ones
  5. Nice topic Not sure....6-7 is a good number. I am more interested in meeting interesting people in the various Inns. Like Torment and that Inn where you met Ignus. I love chatting to people in Inns and getting quests not necessarily relevant to the main quest
  6. I have to be honest but I use a combination of user reviews and normal gaming website reviews. On Gamespot for example you have the user reviews which I have found to be very consistent in their accuracy around what I have found was the quality of the game. I don't see why people think youtube personalities are automatically immune to the perceived corruption and influence that permeates normal gaming journalism ? Thats why I prefer user reviews
  7. I doubt that deep southern Texas accent would be a problem, I can understand perfectly fine most of what you say when you make posts?
  8. Is it not possible that Sera's jokes are actually very intellectual and humourous but.....you just not getting them ? That may be true in some cases, despite appearances Sera is fairly well grounded and smarter than she seems. Quite a few of the jokes Sera is a part of are either immature, oh look how mad she is or Kathrine Tate style chav humour though. Don't get me wrong, it's not all bad, I love her banter with Varric for example and she does have great lines throughout the game. She's actually pretty endearing once you get her world view and see her open up a bit. But her archetype/stereotype was very much a characteristic that a lot of people were going to dislike. I like the character but I hate the chav thing, I tolerate it because like Jack once you dig past it there's more to the character. It's also worth pointing out though that Sera doesn't want people to get to know her, I think she feigns and exaggerates being bat**** crazy and annoying to a certain extent and pushes people away when prodded like a defence mechanism. It makes sense why she might act the way she does, given her past and what she's made her life's mission to be. I like this post because it gives a more positive perspective around Sera ..and its good to read this because there is clearly a lot of negativity about her character
  9. The Ninja series is an excellent idea, it would obviously be set in medieval Japan ( or whatever age Ninjas came from ) and could be all about a society of Ninjas how they operated and survived. I don't think I have ever heard of a TV series about Ninjas ?
  10. Well I can't speak for others but I know I'm too stupid to understand all these " 1's and 0's " discussions that developers have...I just want to plaaaaay the game

  12. yes I love Vikings
  13. Excellent, it'll no longer come out 2 days before PoE. I was hoping for this, actually. And before you say "but it's a different market segment!" -- remember how Dvinity:OS's success was helped by no big names releasing near it, and how the reverse was true for Wasteland 2 and (some other AAA game I can't recall). Without big name releases, the wallets are more susceptible to try something else. EDIT: The stars are aligning... Doesn't bother me at all, I am really excited about GTAV and I don't mind waiting for the final product to be as stable and entertaining as possible
  14. It always boggled my mind how you can take a rational number and keep dividing it by two inifinitely. It will get smaller and smaller forever and the universe hasn't exploded yet (or maybe that is why it's expananding at a faster and faster pace)? Alternatively, from a very old post of mine: Maybe Coffee is the mysterious dark matter that glues the universe together??? The omnipotent Gorthfucious has spoken.... and the secrets of the universe are revealed, coffee is indeed the elixir of life and the holds the key to immortality
  15. I haven't played Isolation yet but the criticisms I have read about is that you spend too much time sneaking around and avoiding Aliens than you do killing them, is this is valid ? It, uh... it was a stealth survival horror game. I don't know how "too much sneaking, not enough killing" is even a conceivable problem for such a game. I haven't played Isolation yet but the criticisms I have read about is that you spend too much time sneaking around and avoiding Aliens than you do killing them, is this is valid ? You can't kill the aliens per say, gameplay-wise the flamethrower is the only way to face the alien, and it only makes it go away. It's indeed a sneaking game overall. Plus, I don't understand how it's a bad thing unless these people expected a shooter. It's not. It's an alien game Edit : just realized tamerlane already said it all. Fair enough, thanks for the feedback

  17. Incorrect, long time ago SJW calculated the amount of information there is in existence....and it is finite
  18. Ok I see what you mean. I think there is kind of a hierarchy of importance when it comes to rpg features, and I feel PC customization is a bit more important than being able to develop a romantic relationship with a companion, so I kinda bugged when you compared these two. But yeah romances have a place in cRPGs. Some in Baldur's Gate 2 were not as cringeworthy as the recent ones EA likes to feature, but I don't think they brought anything to the character they concerned. I mean BG2 romances were nice because the concerned characters were well written, but it didn't add much to the character. I have yet to see romances that actually matter in a crpg. Choosing a race/background/class for the PC however matters more imo. Hence it's more important. Oh and don't get me wrong. Things like exciting dungeons to explore, the overall narrative and PC customization are more important than Romance IMO Romance is really just as aspect of party interaction and only about 20% of that total interaction But I am confident Obsidian will address all those things in PoE 1 so when I talk about the relevance of Romance I am talking about it in PoE 2 because by then Obsidian will be looking at how to improve the PoE franchise and I'm sure Romance will rear its indomitable head and ask " allow me to exist in PoE 2 "
  19. Well the whole narrative of Torment seemed rather tragic to me so I imagine the Romance implementation would be similar But it doesn't have to be that way, for example the whole Viconia Romance arc in BG2 I enjoyed. It started off where she was this very conflicted person of questionable morals. But I continued to Romance and support her and she ended up having my child...but sadly dying in childbirth But the point being I enjoyed the challenges around following this type of Romance arc and it wasn't tragic or doomed. My character had a good life from his Viconia relationship
  20. I agree with you that there are many examples of questionable examples of " bad Romance " But I think most promancers are not after the bad implementations of past Romance, like giving presents to gain affection and those awkward filmed scenes with party members in lingerie before you have sex with them We see Romance as a way to build a more memorable relationship with party members and to make the overall interaction with party members more immersive. Torment did a good job at making Romance more realistic and believable ?
  21. Neither. We're talking about whether it's moral to advise somebody who has suicidal thoughts to kill themselves instead of seeking professional help first. For me its obvious, we have an absolute moral responsibility as a society to help people who suffer from mental ailments and to ensure they get professional help if they want to kill themselves. And this professional help should be mandatory if they refuse it because someone suffering from some sort of mental issue may not be in the best position to know what's best for them There is absolutely nothing moral about what you're saying here. In fact, it's quite evil. Evil..... How is getting people professional psychiatric help evil?
  22. Okay but realistically who doesn't use Microsoft as the the foundation of there IT infrastructure ? How many companies do you know of that don't have a Microsoft desktop OS and use Active Directory? And I am talking about SME's here and not your 10 -100 user companies ?

  24. Aha, now there's a reason for me to up my pledge above the minimum (I have a rule for myself that I never pledge more than the minimum to get the goods for any game that doens't provide a version for an open platform, so basically Linux as I don't expect game companies to start caring about the BSDs anytime soon ) Time to work through the updates to see if they said anything yet to alleviate the technical concerns I had concerning the feasibility of what they want to do with the budget they have. I have never understood why people really choose Linux over Windows, my basic argument being " why change something that is interoperable and works " But I respect your decision to base your KS funding on support for multi-platforms Well that depends on what you use it for, as a software developer I've never seen the appeal of using Windows, the platform is just terrible for any development that isn't tied to the Microsoft ecosystem (I've done some of the latter as well and I'd argue that even then it's not great). So the only real reason I have to keep Windows around is to play games, it would be great if I wouldn't even need it for that anymore. Sure I understand that thinking, I work for a large software reseller and service provider. We sell and integrate software applications to various customers The software we sell normally has a client and server component. And yes the software is tied to the Microsoft ecosystem. But I would argue thats normal if you think of all the conveniences that come with Microsoft like Active Directory and Exchange. Most corporations have adopted the Microsoft ecosystem and it really works So why change what works and more importantly why take the risk of designing software that doesn't work on Microsoft and therefore limiting who your customer base could potentially be ?
