  1. Its a dating website ...you get together for one night stands basically
  2. Yes I would think its obvious that most countries have hybrid systems of socialism and capitalism But why do you think Capitalism is a bad thing? I have explained my definition where it means simply that the private sector is primarily responsible for the growth of the economy ...don't you agree? I hope you respond because you do have a MA in social science
  3. I'm about to start my first play through...I'm very excited A hint, when Leliana asks you if she should kill the spy, saying yes makes her a murderqueen later in the game. Okay and is this a good thing or a bad thing?
  4. I'm about to start my first play through...I'm very excited
  5. The existence of a private sector requires repression and authoritarianism. Edit: Where's my avatar? Well you may see it as repression and authoritarianism but I see it as competition and innovation....and this is one of the foundations that the West achieved historical ascendancy from and contributed towards its success ...free markets my friend, free markets
  6. And capitalism is not? No its not suppose to be, its about the private sector being responsible for the growth of the economy. And parts of the profits made need to be reinvested back into the company to ensure robustness and development Yes some mistakes have been made, like the 2008 financial crisis, but the system works and makes sense
  7. OK, so using the alternative definition social democrat = socialist so your making a distinction earlier is redundant. No one argues he wants a violent overthrow of the government or Stalinist repression. But government is always coercive, so once he establishes a confiscatory level of taxation whoever refuses to pay will still go to prison, just like the guy in my quote (of course he'd need a like minded Congress and I don't see that happening soon, but that seems like a poor argument for electing someone President). I gotta agree with Wrath there. Even if socialism is initially established through democratic means, the violence and human rights abuses will follow sooner or later: Socialism, in its aspiration to manage society top-down, is intrinsically repressive and authoritarian, and from there it's a small step towards totalitarianism - a step that will always be taken as long as it relies on filling its central planning and leadership positions with human beings ("power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely"). And on the practical side of things, socialism's economic theories are based on ideal-world assumptions ("perfect humans"; "greed and rent-seeking don't exist"; "incentives aren't a thing") and wishful thinking ("surely via state-controlled education and media we can program people to behave like that"). They don't work in reality. In reality, prohibiting private citizens from owning means of production and replacing profit-motivated economic activity with bureaucratic central planning, does not bring about a workers' paradise - it brings about scarcity. And in order to keep up the charade, the leaders of such a "democratic socialist" state need someone to blame for that 'unexpected' onset of scarcity and approaching humanitarian crisis - they need conspiracy theories about sabotage by "bourgeoisie elements" and "class enemies", they need to stop people from listening to investigative journalists who report on the scarcity, etc. And in such an environment, laws to end free speech and persecute the opposition practically pass themselves. --- If you're blind to history (with its many socialist experiments that all turned out the same way), then at least learn from current events - all of the above can currently be observed playing out step by step in Venezuela. After having reached scarcity in pretty much all essential goods, they're now at the stage where... opposition politicians are being thrown in jail for trumped-up charges or simply banned from participating in the upcoming election, private homes are being raided by the military for suspicions of "hoarding food items", peaceful university student activists are targeted by prosecutors with allegations of "destabilizing the government", media outlets and journalists are being subjected to systematic "censorship and intimidation", and TV and radio is "now almost entirely dominated by the government and its obligatory announcements". ...and things are headed to get worse from here. This, ladies and gents, is "democratic socialism". --- So: Sorry, but I can't overlook Sander's unabashed support of socialism as some sort of peculiar but charming quirk, or something that I should pretend is just a funny way of saying "liberal" in his case. He calls himself a socialist and really means it, and that matters. Bernie Sander's socialism is like Ron Paul's racist newsletters IMO - it makes someone who'd otherwise be a much needed authentic anti-establishment candidate, unelectable. But Venezuela is a really bad example of a socialist experiment gone wrong...no one in the USA would follow such an extreme system of government
  8. I think that will be very challenging for you. Oh you bad boy...no dinner for you, off to bed !!! Yes you make some good points, another reason is most animals are seen as defenseless as opposed to humans But we shouldn't kid ourselves, in my own country people do live and die in poverty ...so we talking about the type of poverty that leads to death for human beings. For example people die in South Africa from exposure to the elements
  9. Its more than that, people join campaigns like "save the Rhino " and they have never seen a rhino in RL Lets try to challenge our insight tonight Gfted1
  10. Does it not bother you that you seem to care more about an animal then a human being? I have asked myself this question myself, in South Africa white folks really love there pets and sometimes there is this accusation " white people care more about animals than impoverished black people " ....I don't think this is fair. We care about lots of different things like human suffering, starvation, rhinos and poverty But I do sometimes feel a little guilty...and I'm not sure why ? For example my mom has 3 dogs and she does spend a lot of money on there well being..probably more than she gives directly to charity? But she does give money outside of the obvious to NGO and charity examples So I guess I am asking why do we seem to really care about more about pets than ostensibly about people who live in poverty?
  11. Thats cruel ....I hope our Canadian members realize you aren't referring to there beloved pets
  12. And Moose...you like Moose, they also very loyal All Canadians are partial to Moose which is why its the most popular pet in your country
  13. That's how I read your post at first, bruce I'm not sure if this a statement about me or about my opinion of you, though I guess it's the latter Its probably more shaped by your accurate opinion of me
  14. Sounds kinda cool, I like dreams that are based on games I play ...I am still waiting for my Isabella or Viconia dream ....
  15. Bruce why do you have against us? You would really condemn us to a bad president just because you have to satisfy your ideological itch of seeing a woman as president? The system is ****ed, the people's candidate always gets buried and miscast while the two corporate circus freaks are promoted. I'm surprised of how American democracy looks like Cuban Socialism. You see my friend the real question is " do you think Obama has been a good president " ? Because Clinton will be much of the same and that's a good thing IMO, a very very good thing for the overall strength of the USA I have almost given up trying to convince people why Obama has been so good for the USA, history will vindicate my support of him But also Hilary Clinton comes with a wealth of experience so its not just the fact she is a women, yes that is part if it I won't deny that, its the fact she is equally qualified, if not more so, than any other candidate So the better question is " why not Hilary Clinton " ? I don't think he has been a good President, most of his accomplishments have been without real substance. In his defense I could say that indeed he inherited a great mess and that the system has been broken for years, it will be difficult to repair it in just 2 terms. But then I remember that he's the drone strike lord, which is what makes me fear Hillary cuz I don't think she is as nice a person. There seems to be this blanket judgment on drone strikes as them being a bad and unacceptable military strategy, I don't support this view The usage of drone strikes makes sense in lots of cases. For example there primary use has been against the Taliban in Western Pakistan and Afghanistan and questions are just ignored about why the USA deploys drones? The Taliban and its affiliated groups like Al-Qaeda don't fight a conventional war in Afghanistan, they wage war against the the Coalition forces in Afghanistan and then cross the border to Pakistan where they regroup and strategize. The current Pakistan government has no control over these Al-Qaeda influenced areas so what is the USA suppose to do? Just let the Taliban cross the border and think they can come back to Afghanistan in the summer...no this makes no sense. Now they could deploy ground troops into Pakistan but then we have many other issues like the sovereignty of the Pakistan government because even though those parts of Pakistan are not under the control of the Pakistan government its still part of there country So drone strikes make sense, there has to be some punitive military steps against people who want to engage in war against the USA and its allies in Afghanistan and think they can hide in some other country
  16. I have just finished GTAV, I spent about 90 hours completing it Its a superlative game, Rockstar are geniuses at creating exciting and living worlds. They design characters that are believable and really make you laugh. And of course as I mentioned before the parody talk show radio stations like Blaine County Radio offer some of the funniest dialogue I have ever heard in my life I took my time playing this game and really explored large parts of the game world, thats one of the fun components with this type of game ..random exploring and creating mayhem and havoc with unsuspecting people Its gets a worthy 78/100
  17. Since you seem to want constructive criticism one of the issues I have had with your debating etiquette is not that you make long posts, its that you expect people to respond in the same way. So if some response is not either very detailed or doesn't address all your points you feel people " are not debating in good faith"...but not everyone wants to spend hours on one debate. So maybe learn to expect 1 or 2 responses in a discussion ? And of course you don't always do this but sometimes you do
  18. That would be funny but the USA wouldn't be laughing when we see all the harm he would wreck on your countries reputation and political status in the world after his presidency ended
  19. Yes those issues are just a political distraction I am more interested in genuine issues and concerns with her, like some of the real issues I have with Trump

  21. OMG !!! If that is your typical Canadian Conservative then I truly fear for the Conservative future....how rude was that guy....its like he is some ranting loon, why insult the media in such a way?
  22. So the race for the Democratic presidential candidate nomination is getting interesting, Clinton is on 47% and Sanders gets 29 %.....I am still firmly confident and happy with Hilary Clinton getting the nomination but Sanders growing support worries me a little http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/Poll-Clinton-Democrats-Slipping/2015/08/19/id/670812/
  23. Oh sorry this post had nothing to do with our discussion, it was addressed to someone else and I was suppose to edit it but got distracted and never finished
  24. What about your other monthly expenses like insurance, the levy, bond repayments, food bills etc. How do you factor those into overall profitability?
