Im not sure what you believe is the root cause for this global inflation but its primarily being caused by the pandemic and global economic lockdowns As economies are coming back online we have major supply chain issues, high oil price due to demand and shortages of goods and yes all this stimulus from the Democrats hasnt helped But its not because of the normal monetary policies of Central Banks, they arent the main cause. This current inflation is due to the lockdowns and its artificial as opposed to systemic like the causes of the great depression

https://summit.news/2022/02/10/doctor-who-discovered-omicron-variant-says-she-was-pressured-to-not-reveal-it-was-mild/ Here is a very relevant article that highlights how some of the pandemic measures have been misplaced and forms of government overreach in an attempt to control our societies for reasons that are beyond me

Elerond please dont confuse our American and Australian friends, everyone knows only the Nordic countries have the right balance between socialism and " Capitalism " No other country can do what you guys do successfully and sustainably so its unfair to make comparisons....the rest of us dont have the same societies, support from citizens and lack of problems that exist in the Nordic countries If you need evidence of why corporal punishment is a good thing you just need to look at me

Im disappointed you are comfortable handwaving the actual reality and lived experiences of many people in our societies, you dont make a very convincing argument when you cant support your own view? Sure but I am not talking about using corporal punishment as convenience for all forms of discipline. Many parents I know, including my brothers who have kids, dont believe in corporal punishment (well their wives dont believe in it ) and their is nothing wrong with their kids so its not mandatory if your children respond to other forms of consequence But one of the societal negative outcomes to not having corporal punishment is some young people leave school with no respect for laws and rules and in RL this is how they conduct themselves And you say you werent spanked and you not a bad adult, I agree but look at your anarchist tendencies Gorthfuscious ? Dont you think this is related to that, dont you wish you werent so "anti-society "

Im not suggesting all young people would benefit from corporal punishment, I just know it worked for me because I was recalcitrant. You dont seem to be someone who was particularly disruptive These types of articles are the worst examples of why corporal punishment is bad, they ignore the reality in countries that arent first world countries and even make these outrageous suggestions its akin to abuse and can lead to people becoming abusive in later life Its well meaning but its also propaganda and I encourage people not to fall for it, you dont need a study like this when myself and millions of other people have lived experience of the benefits of the discipline and respect most learn through corporal punishment A few years ago several civil society groups in SA took government to court to overturn the ban on corporal punishment....sadly we lost but the judges ruling was wrong in this case because they ruled that in our Constitution violence against children is obviously unconstitutional and for some strange reason decided corporal punishment is violence against children so its illegal. But corporal punishment is not violence against children in the way our Constitution defines, its about discipline. Anyway the point being many South Africans support corporal punishment and I can promise you its not because they mentally unbalanced or violent abusers of children https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/confirmed-heres-why-spanking-your-child-could-now-land-you-in-jail/ Governments shouldn't get involved on this level on how families raise children...we dont want to live in a nanny state

We had corporal punishment up to grade 12 and you got canned up to 6 for various things like fighting, being disruptive and rudeness to teachers I never got more than 3 and it was all related to being noisy in class and similar things. But we had a sense of fear and respect for the rules of the school. And its a good fear because it teaches you consequence for your actions

You right, whataboutism is never really helpful But in SA these political commentators say we are worst country on numerous levels like we are the most unequal society in the world and thats demonstrably untrue and ignores things like free housing, services and social grants that our government provides and tries to provide and all these social services are almost non-existant in most African countries So when you criticize your government you shouldn't base that comparison on inaccurate information about the state of other governments. Just base your negative views on the proven facts and or failed policies within your own country

Tonight its our State of the Nation Address by our president It will much of the same, well meaning promises and goals and our media and political commentators blaming the president for all our woes when in fact not many citizens take personal responsibility for our numerous societal shortfalls and not supporting government when they want to fix things like critical retrenchments in the public sector and SOE (state owned entities ) which have become one big hole requiring yearly bailouts amounting to billions of rands And then some political commentators talk about how terrible the SA government is and how bad our economy is....they clearly havent seen the quality of life in many other African countries or the ME

About 25 years ago my dad and stepmom went on a second honeymoon to Greece and after a delayed trip they got to Paros, hired a car and were looking for somewhere to eat lunch while sightseeing They saw a large house with a patio outside and tables setup and several cars in the parking area. They got out the car walked to the patio area and sat down, they also noticed another group of people sitting at another table and a man, the hotel\restaurant manager, saying to the other people " I have arranged transport " But the service seemed really bad and it took over 5 minutes before the manager came to their table and said " how can I help you "...the conversation went like this Parents : Can we get some coffee Manager :Sure, what coffee do you want? I have Turkish, American, Greek etc. Parents: Anything, we just want coffee He brought out coffee with this delicious homemade cakes and since it was clearly quiet he started chatting to them about where they from and what they doing in Greece. It turned out this managers dad knew SA because his dad was stuck in SA during WW2 and they ended up having a 40 minute friendly chat about life and travels But at the end of the chat the conversation went like this Manager: Oh, by the way this is not a restaurant. This is my private home Parents : What !!! But who were those other people sitting at that other table Manager : Those were friends who had been staying with us My parents nearly died of embarrassment for assuming this was a restaurant but they all had a great laugh about it and they left on very good terms with the home owner How is that for "white, male privlidege "

McConnell is one of the good guys in the GOP and I imagine he will get censored and criticized by the Trump supporters But Pence also finally found some integrity when he publicly stated " he had no ability to overturn the 2020 election " on Friday and several prominent members of the GOP agree with him https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hr-mcmaster-pence-trump-2020-election-face-the-nation/ It bodes well for the likely victory of the Republicans in the midterms because hopefully the GOP will have moved meaningfully beyond Trumpism

It really annoys me when people use the Apartheid card when something has nothing to do with Apartheid
-
Yes he means they not Neo-Nazis right wing
-
The truckers are right wing?
-
Jordan Peterson has made several convincing videos about how the liberal media is incorrectly labeling all the protestors as right-wing and ignoring the original issues raised by the truckers I agree with some of what he says but what doesnt change is the protesters are asking for something that Trudeau cannot agree to because its decided by the states so the entire original protest to "end mandatory vaccination requirements between states" cannot be achieved through this protest. That makes the disruption to peoples lives and shutting down highways as illegitimate and the Canadian security forces need to intervene
-
Anyone breaking the law and involved in criminality should be arrested, it doesnt matter if its BLM protestors or Canadian truckers
-
Their are still legitimate and reasonable protestors within the Canadian truckers but as normally happens with these protests because their is no definitive and agreed on leadership and anyone can join parts of the protests degenerate into chaos and illegal actions Yes Gorthfuscious the rule of law and order must be maintained and you need to deploy security forces effectively especially when certain demands are beyond Trudeaus influence because its on the provincial level. And also you shouldnt be able to " force " your government to change any pandemic restriction because that should be done based on the level of virus risk But the biggest problem is I dont think Canada has the security forces, experience or the training to effectively end this type of large scale protest? @Malcador Whats your opinion on deploying security forces to end the protests? Do they have the experience to do this without unnecessary bloodshed and damage to property? Oh I also didnt know you had a real Canadian Neo-Nazi movement, first time I have heard of it?
