  1. GD you too young to retire, what are you going to do if you retire and arent you worried you will get very bored ?
  2. Links so we can confirm this story for ourselves, it doesnt sound very plausible that someone would get arrested just for a Russian passport ?
  3. https://news.yahoo.com/happens-next-elon-musk-bid-213320491.html Musk has made a very reasonable offer to buy Twitter and even though the current board seems to be opposed its ultimately up to shareholders to decide. I think its a good deal considering the value of Twitter, to quote from the link "Twitter’s market valuation this week is around $36 billion, and Musk is offering to pay $7 billion more than that. His bid amounts to roughly $54.20 per share—that’s 54% higher than Twitter’s share price the day before he began investing in Twitter and a 38% premium over the stock’s value the day before his investment was made public earlier this month" I would agree to this offer if I was Twitter shareholder?
  4. The sinking of the Moskva represents symbolically the entire Russian military campaign Putins War has shown us the true nature of the Russian army. The Russians are excellent at bombing cities to the ground from miles away using missiles and killing thousands of civilians , mass rape and executing unarmed people But normal combat strategy and adhering to the Geneva Convention they are terrible as they lack the training and discipline
  5. Do you think its funny? Why do you think "blonde hair, blue-eyes beauties " will not be sent to Rwanda. I always appreciate your deep insights Yes, its a deterrence to stop human smuggling and people arriving illegally in the UK but only if you think living in Rwanda is a bad option Many countries face a crisis around illegal immigration including SA. The article mentions 1000 people a day could arrive illegally in the UK. What would you suggest as the best method to stop or address this flood of illegal immigrants? Most of the world if you look at Africa and the ME uses refugee camps and detention centers. Would this is be a better permanent solution in the UK as opposed to a new life in Rwanda?
  6. Their is nothing wrong with Rwanda, its a very stable and well run country Malc you guys have got to stop thinking that the whole of Africa is some big failed state. Yes their are failed states and some benighted countries but also some progressive and well run countries. They may not be first world but you can live their and have a future. I could live in at least 10-12 African countries and Rwanda is one of them
  7. You right but their is a massive difference between the futures of the Syrian people and the Ukrainian people The West "pulled out " of supporting the Syrian people because Western intervention was vetoed by Russia and China when the Syrian civil war started in 2011. In other words the West will fund and assist its own allies or if it is the cause of a conflict Russia and Iran are now responsible to rebuild and fix the broken mess that is Syria, because they openly supported Assad, and since neither of those countries has the resources, inclination or experience at rebuilding a failed state its unlikely Syria will ever become economically stable in the next 30 years or so The West is deeply connected to Ukraine for numerous reasons and its highly unlikely they will abandon the rebuild process once Putins War is over I know its not ideal but we just have to be patient, most of the Ukrainian refugees will return home and they wont be an economic burden forever
  8. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/european-gas-prices-decline-ahead-090535297.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall EU gas prices are down, hopefully they maintain this low level
  9. But guys I dont understand this strange criticism similar to " as long as they dont come in millions " or " how much the west cares when the subject of money to support them comes about " Their is no country in the world, including the US, that can just absorb and fund millions of immigrants permanently in 2 month...its not possible and its not realistic The Ukrainian refugees are being given temporary shelter and places to live so they not killed during Putins War Most of the refugees obviously will go home and they want to go home once its safe. I am not sure why you would criticize the EU response when its clearly the right thing to do considering the proximity of Ukraine to the EU and the reality of what happens anyway during a war and or invasion when one country is attacked Have you see how many Syrian refugees live in these safe but appalling refugee camps in countries on the border of Syria? Take a look at these conditions and compare that to the appreciated response from the EU https://www.voanews.com/a/middle-east_syrian-refugees-border-camp-face-humanitarian-crisis/6172627.html I can understand your frustration but the EU didnt create this refugee crisis, its important we dont lose sight of that
  10. Malc in future please use " " , or something similar, when you use lines from movies or games Its hard to know when its your words or a quote and sometimes you quote interesting things but they can be misunderstood
  11. I cant say I was using the Internet back then, SA was about to have its first Democratic election in 1994 and that was more significant and impactful to us I had never heard of the term Eternal September until now, interesting link. All I can say is Im eternally grateful that access and benefits of the Internet became mainstream. Its the greatest source of available information the world has ever known and it would seem almost criminal to deny mankind that information? Its not broken, its constantly evolving and getting better. Now we have the potential of visits to different Metaverses ..the ULTIMATE progression of online gaming, I am really excited for the future. I can only imagine an Elder Scrolls or Forgotten Realms Metaverse
  12. https://www.iol.co.za/news/10-heartbreaking-pictures-that-show-the-true-extent-of-kzns-flood-damage-c91570a5-8dec-4066-b041-36fdd478f28c These floods in the province I have travelled to has caused the deaths of over 300 people so far, their is no water supply in parts of the province where their is flooding. Here are some photos of the devastation From Easter we will in mountains where they havent been hit by the rains so at least I will be able to take a normal bath
  13. Do you personally think overall she was a good leader for Germany? In other word will you reflect on her leadership in a positive or negative way ?
  14. I know this is a "boring " subject and we all want to move on from the pandemic and the idea of constantly wearing masks and hearing about unnecessary lockdowns is annoying and unconvincing But I still recommend getting a booster, one of my brothers got the virus this week. He has very bad flu symptoms and his whole body is aching, he sleeps all day and now his whole family cant come to this mountain resort that we going to for Easter He didnt take a booster but his wife did and she is asymptomatic and feels fine. So vaccines still seem the most effective way to prevent severe Corona or worse symptoms
  15. I thought she was an excellent Chancellor, the only 2 things I would really criticize her on was her stance on open immigration that started with Syrian immigrants and she tried to appease Putin too much But neither of those should change what I hope is her successful legacy around Germany, at least for me But I like Scholtz and I think he is definitely making some early prudent decisions like the rearmament of Germany, its long overdue and its time for the EU to also focus on having its own effective military force outside of NATO which matters but its not exclusively EU
  16. Swansong looks good as usual
  17. https://edition.cnn.com/2022/04/14/europe/russia-navy-cruiser-moskva-fire-abandoned-intl-hnk-ml/index.html Update on the Moskva
  18. Im not sure why you feel the whole world is hating on Germany, you shouldnt use reddit or SM as s gauge to determine real sentiment Germany cant just cut all energy ties to Russia, this takes time and this was well known
  19. So some men will take advantage of the situation and try to get lucky but lets not suggest this is the majority of people helping the Ukrainian refugees
  20. They are, their are several million Ukrainian refugees already in Europe but you cant just absorb people instantly. These things take time and also most Ukrainian want to return to Ukraine. They dont want to be refugees permanently The EU has done a lot considering the timeframes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Ukrainian_refugee_crisis
  21. Nah, once Putins War is over you underestimate the West and its allies commitment to Ukraine. The country will be rebuilt with funding from the wealthiest countries in the world, they not going leave Ukraine alone after the devastation inflicted by the warmongering of Putin I would be more worried about the future of Russia than Ukraine
  22. Its one of my brothers 40th birthdays this week and we have booked an Easter weekend at a mountain resort called Sani Pass. SA offers 3 types of main holiday destinations that include beach, game reserve and mountain resorts. Everything was fine until the province where we going was hit by the worst floods in living memory. Now we not sure if the Cpt family should go because of all the damage done to infrastructure like water supply and roads. But I think we will still go, Im flying out at 3pm today if everything is till happening https://www.booking.com/hotel/za/sani-pass-resort.en-gb.html?aid=330631;label=msn-vGhbmuGGDLKc8ZoXRP6liw-2971246154%3Atikwd-16754163194%3Aloc-168%3Aneo%3Amte%3Alp164220%3Adec%3Aqssani pass hotel website;sid=a9d006787ba00c2a461db12b3f22e5d5;dest_id=-1237281;dest_type=city;dist=0;group_adults=2;group_children=0;hapos=1;hpos=1;no_rooms=1;req_adults=2;req_children=0;room1=A%2CA;sb_price_type=total;sr_order=popularity;srepoch=1649837307;srpvid=8b1e393d96870114;type=total;ucfs=1&#hotelTmpl
