  1. Love stuff like this. I spoke of this before, but one of my dream rpgs is one focused on survival rather than winning fights. And I don't mean a stranded on a desert island kind of game, but rather being thrown into a world where the gap between your charachter and enemies/npcs is insane.
  2. Thanks and no rush. More communication in general outside of sheduled actions is plenty enough.
  3. I don't think people (I'm not) are complaining about a lack of information, but a lack of casual communication.
  4. Anthony Davis is now back according to his Linkedin.
  5. Mine is that communication in general seems to have suffered/is improvable. A nice, loose and honest atmosphere can do wonders between fan-dev communication. You don't have to follow rules dictated by marketing.
  6. As hinted at before I have no real problem with them not doing an update. I do have with how communication of that fact was handled,
  7. I don't see it as negative, but yeah. (For one, fullfilment site has low importance to me) I understand that you are spreading info more carefully after initial backlash against WIP's, but you can atleast inform us in general terms. It's not exactly fun staying up till' near morning (on a weekday no less) only to discover that there isn't going to be a update. That info could have been communicated with a simple tweet the day before and you still could have done a thank you to the backers. Don't do things too rigid.
  8. ..... .......... I'm going to bed. Too grumpy. Gladly supported though and will continue to do so in the future.
  9. There has been gameplay in the trailers. Do you mean some sort of walkthrough? If so I think we might get that somewhere in the final marketing push.
  10. Off-Topic There is a new support section on the homepage where Obsidian gives information who to contact for a game. http://www.obsidian.net/support At least I think its new.
  11. It was never delayed for over a year. Originally it got a placeholder for 31.December.2012. It's first actual date was March 2013. That delay isn't exactly uncommon. Not to mention it got the first date under a struggeling publisher. When Ubisoft bought it they probably had no problem investing a bit more money considering it was already cheap for them.
  12. If one says "new torment" he implies there's a "old torment". Anything other than Planescape matching the description? Thought so. Still he didn't say Planescape. A successor doesn't have to take place in the same setting. It can simply be themes, gameplay, structure. Example Final Fantasy. That's also exactly the way Colin & Co described why its a successor to *Torment*
  13. As a matter of fact it's not "new torment" but a game that Plancescape: Torment was inspiration to... and also has the word "torment" in its title. It's a: different and totally new IP, a spiritual successor to P:E, not a sequel, prequel, spin-off, etc. a monkey with a banana. ... choose yourself what to call it. Which makes it a new *Torment*? He didn't say Planescape.
  14. woops bad quoting skills, was talking to the guy above me, Sharp_onedidnt mean you Hehe
  15. The longer the enviro artist one is open the less areas we get in the game.Depends on how Many areas are planned and other stuff. So, I don't really think that's as simple.Let's say the position doesn't fill for a month. That's one months worth of environment art that the game doesn't get whether that be props, inyeriors or areas. No need to go all herpy derpy not so sharp one.Why the insult? What did I ever do to you Sensuki? I'm very butthurt. And still depends on the management of the project. More people effectivly used would be better, of course. But that wasn't my point was it? Or if it was unclear. Creating areas/props isn't the artists entire responsibilty. And they aren't infinite. So they aren't creating 24/7 for the rest of the project anyway.
  16. There are of course enviroment artists in Cali. It's close to impossible there aren't. Just because the position is still open doesn't mean there are no applicatns cuurently under consideration. Also generally, outsourcing stuff imo always has risks appointed to it and is supoptimal on a communication basis. And there are few things as important as communication. Moreso when we are even talking about a different country here. There is a thing called time zones.

  18. Yes. clearly Obsidian didn't have neither position filled because we didn't saw neither VFX nor environment. Sarcasm aside, did you noticed that VFX is for MMORPG and the Environment Artist position is for intern? There is another one for project eternity in Project Eternity for both cases. So, sensuki's right. But, it's not too worrysome yet imo since job searches are pretty time intensive and I imagine both positions aren't quite needed yet before full-on crunch. Though they should be filled soon.
  19. Obsidian wanted to give it a Spin-Off title, but Square Enix decided to market it as DS3. There is your easy answer. Also I don't think Obsidian should apologize at all. And DA2 or Diablo 3 aren't really comparable, because their problem wasn't that it suddenly was a different kind of game. (Diablo 3 wasn't suddenly party based for example.) Also how is Lucas a bad name for a main charachter? That name got rich history.
  20. A: Dialouge is the thing Ziets likes doing least when it comes to writing. B: He was pretty mysterious about upcoming stuff in his last update.
  21. Shot jokes but nobody makes one about their first game literary being called Yager. Pathetic.
  22. Considering there seems to be no previous industry experience required this sounds like a pretty hot position for writers in the area.
