  1. Nah Volourn. Not even the most moronic developer on earth would intentionally write an AI routine that makes an enemy stand right in front of you without doing ANYTHING at all. Granted, it happened once or twice in two playthroughs, but it was quite clearly a bug. Two words: Spark Unlimited. Not even the most uneducated, wannabe, indie developer could program A.I. as piss poor as Spark Unlimited without knowing it.
  2. Alpha Protocol scored the same as Assassin's Creed II on Destructoid. Both games scored one point lower than Naughty Bear. Yes, you read that right. All 3 were reviewed by the same person. I must say, though, I dig Deadly Premonition, which he gave a 10/10. Granted, it's certainly no 10/10, but it's insanely amusing, nonetheless.
  3. You give Sega too much credit. They're not smart. That's why their company has been in a decline. They continue to milk Sonic like a filthy whore. They publish shovelware like Tournament of Legends. They heavily invested in hardcore Wii development. And even though The Conduit was an utter failure at retail, they've gone ahead with a sequel. Sega is a goddamn mess and shouldn't get any credit for the way they handle their awful business.
  4. I love Chris. He's a genius. But seriously, I'm glad it turned out the way it did and not the other way.
  5. AP is fantastic. Its number of faults do nothing to pull me out of this awesome experience.
  6. Love Arkham Asylum, but I love Alpha Protocol just as much, and it has more replayability, so it gets the slight edge.
  7. That's a might big assumption there, playa! If there's no DLC in the pipeline, it really doesn't mean much. Hell, God of War 3 was supposed to get some form of DLC, yet it never did. Many million+ sellers don't get DLC.
  8. Not out of the ordinary. I see most releases on sale for $39.99-$49.99 these days. Blur was just on sale for $39.99, too, and that's an Activision joint. Same with Split/Second, etc. New releases are on sale very early these days. I take advantage of these deals. Not to mention, I picked up Alpha Protocol for $44.99 from K-Mart when it released. I don't think it is a sale. I think it's an official price drop to $39.99 at least in NA. Either way, I'm definitely picking this up. Price Drop Considering K-Mart just had Mass Effect 2 for $19.99, Gamefly just had BioShock 2 for $16.99 and Bayonetta for $14.99, etc, I don't find it surprising. Many high rated titles that released this calendar year are already incredibly cheap. Games don't keep their value like they used to. Prices drop within mere months for even high rated titles.
  9. Played the 360 version and it was a pleasant experience. I don't get all the crybaby BS, tbh.
  10. I still don't understand how the Shenmue games had such large development budgets. They're great games, but yeah...
  11. Like I've said before, The Conduit failed, MadWorld failed, HotD: Overkill failed, and yet Sega is still moving on with The Conduit 2 because they see a lot of potential. The same could happen with Alpha Protocol.
  12. I love how both Alpha Protocol and Alan Wake have games with hard rock and concert stages. I didn't expect it in either and was pleasantly surprised that I found these awesome and hilarious moments in both. Brayko is badass. Love that level.
  13. I can confirm this. It's the section that's between 2 doors. The one you entered last is all screwed up. Its doors are open and you can walk back into the void.
  14. They still worked on NWN2 patches for a lot of time while working simultaneously on Aliens : Crucible (sadly canceled before we could see its gameplay) and Alpha Protocol, so I don't find it surprising. Provided the publisher gives them the ok, Obsidian has always provided support for their games in my experience. I've always found community fixes to patch up any issues I've had.
  15. Well, that's um... unexpected? I didn't expect this since it seems they're slaving over New Vegas. I can't say I'm really in need of a patch or two, but this is good for those who are.
  16. Yeah, I don't like MGS. The story is utter BS (ie: laughably bad). If I want a more linear approach to stealth, I'd go for either Splinter Cell or Thief. And I disagree, I find the dialogue system to be exceptional. The best to date, actually.
  17. It's not an FPS. It's a TPS with RPG elements and it works well. Maybe play better?

  19. Here's the song from the tv advert:
  20. I was once like that, but after playing so-called "AAA" shooters for 10+ years , I'm so done with that crap. I'll take a gem with some rough spots over a polished been there, done that game. However, Bulletstorm looks like a somewhat fresh shooter. A mixture of Painkiller and The Club.
  21. Never liked his "humor", tbh.
  22. I don't know, Nepenthe, but Bulletstorm looks dumb and fun. And since it's from the Painkiller devs (People Can Fly), it's totally expected.
  23. And Borderlands had horrible texture pop-in (at least on Xbox 360), clipping (enemies limbs would clip through the environment), weak guns when you first started out, pretty much no story, etc. Despite these faults, I still loved Borderlands. However, the weak guns part was a positive for me since it's an RPG. I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy in paid reviews.
  24. I'll take this so-called "mediocre gameplay" over a typical run n' gun, thank you very much!
  25. Though I think DAO was better graphically, I think the most important difference is more than anything in the animations. Animations can make or break a game. Even extremely dated graphics can look "all right" if the design is good and the animations compensate (case in point : World of Warcraft, which should look abysmally bad with its 3-or-so-polygons-models, but somehow manage to not be visually jarring (if you don't mind the comic book design of course). I found DAO's visuals and animations to both be worse.
