How much "branching" can we expect in the game? The game hasn't really been on my radar at all aside from this thread, but if there's actual significant branching I'll be both surprised and impressed and will definitely look into this a bit more.

DR2 is an absolute blast with a friend! I doubt I'd care much for the single player on my own though haha.

This doesn't appear to be true for Mass Effect 2. I remember you mentioned this a while back and I experimented with the opening areas and part of the first act, and every time I picked a different conversation option, I had a unique line of VO (the conversation would often have a unique response for one line too, before usually consolidating into a common path that each dialogue option would eventually reach - a practice that existed long before the dialogue wheel) for that response. Of the 3 primary responses (Northeast, East, and Southeast) which would progress the conversation forward. I suppose some of the context sensitive responses in the NW and SW (or the paragon/renegade lines) may have repeated some of the eastern responses but that would be... strange and surprising since those options often aren't even available without specific catalysts.

I don't feel that need. If a game has made me genuinely put serious thought into a decision, that itself is enough of a reward for me and puts itself in a unique place that 99% of games never reach. I never needed an answer for "What can change the nature of a man?"

I think you focused too much on the word "mitigation." I think the idea is more that if you find armor with a higher armor value, it the armor penetration is so high for hostiles then what is the point of even having an armor value at all? Shouldn't an armor with a higher value reduce damage somewhat, from a logical perspective? EDIT: This is referring to rogues and mages obviously. In other words, going from 30 armor to 40 armor results in no additional protection at all if every hostile has 50 armor penetration. At least, that's the way I was reading it.

In almost every CRPG I've played (most goldbox games, based on AD&D and beyond had mages that were ridiculously powerful once they got past the earlier levels. The martial classes needed copious amounts of magical gear to keep up, whereas mages could fling their death while naked. Though I suppose I should restructure mages with "spellcasters" in general. It is a different issue, but Sorophx's point was about setting CRPGs back 20 years when mages were the suck, so I think it was always about CRPGs.

Wizards are called facerollers

I enjoyed this: Followed by: Good times. This is awesome stuff btw. New game with new skills, but obviously since if Dual weilding was removed from DAO, it'd make the game easier (or harder???) as a warrior, so therefore DA2's warriors are obviously the suck.

LOL that's awesome!

I'm not sure why the idea that people do it because it's free is that shocking for you. It's super easy to rationalize piracy, and given that it's intellectual property you can tell yourself all sorts of things that differentiate it from other forms of theft so that you can sleep at night. Many see it as victimless, and combined with virtually no sanctions, there's not much incentive if you're already a part of the culture. You've never had friends download an entire CD (something they could afford) of something they like off of Napster or Gnutella simply because it was easy to do and didn't cost them anything? The same thing goes for people that steal cable or satellite TV. My own father used to get unrestricted smart cards until Bell finally made it too inconvenient and inconsistent, at which point he decided to just start paying for it. I know he's not alone. One of my roommates at University earned spending money by hosting a private warez site that he'd give access to for either unique .ISOs that he didn't already have, or a small fee. He doesn't do this anymore, but still takes part in a smaller exclusive group of torrent sharers through some SA goons.

It's not stealing for the thrill. It's because he can get it for free. He's a spendthrift. As in: "Why pay for it when I can get it for free?"

?? because all those rich pirates out there were just itching to buy this game? correct me if im wrong but aren't most (ie more than 50%, less, probably, than 90%) pirates unemployed basement dwellers? I know several people who only pirate, never buy. one works at target, one has never been employed, one has been unemployed for 6 years. these people wouldn't have bought jack **** but they DO pirate 100's of games every year. I do not know anyone who pirates who also has more money than rent. (i know my anecdotes are scientifically worthless, but so was dagons claim) I know several people that pirate because they can. One is an accountant that makes over $60k a year.

Love the subtitle to this thread. Picked up Theater of War because it claims to be realistic WW2. I am a sucker! I hope it is fun at least

RUSE is on sale (someone was asking about that).

So it's just a personal preference of how you like the combat, even if functionally the ability to play the game, and special moves, and so forth were identical (and hence, the class not actually any different to play). That you'd play a dual wielding warrior in DAO is pretty surprising (and somewhat impressive) though, given how gimped that build is. If "Ooo I'm holding two weapons" is what it takes to shift a class from interesting to "a lot more boring," just keep that in mind the next time people call out today's games as being made for simpletons that are easily pleased.

Thing is, there's plenty of utter filth movies that don't use CGI in them as well. Whether or not CGI is present in a movie is hardly a precursor to the movie being qualitatively good or bad.
-
To be fair I may be mistaken on which illness it was. It was several years ago now and I don't remember the details.
-
The warrior would be more interesting if he could dual wield?
-
LOL Mass Effect 2 has more PC pirated downloads than total sales for the PC and 360 combined.
-
They nerfed the attack and defense of warriors?
-
Wouldn't the bulk of CGI films be the type of stuff we get from Pixar and Dreamworks and whatnot. Why does CGI have to mean attempting to bridge the uncanny valley?

d20 single player KotOR 3
Thorton_AP replied to DarthCovenant's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
This will only result in the MMO being shut down, not "KOTOR 3" To be perfectly honest, I think it's more likely that there will be a KOTOR 3 if the MMO is successful rather than a failure. If it fails, then the setting will likely be considered dead. If it's successful, then the options for ancillary projects that complement it become possible. I'm a KOTOR fan, and I am super excited for The Old Republic by the way. -
Nonsense. I played DA on a console with friendly fire on and w/o the quasi-iso POV and FF worked fine and added quite a bit to the tactics of combat, limited as they may have generally been. I applaud the notion of having these things on toggles, but removing them altogether and adding insult to injury with the justification given - absurd. Friendly fire isn't removed altogether. It's still available on Nightmare difficulty. Unless your specific grievance is that friendly fire has been removed from the "Hard" difficulty, you still had to change from the default difficulty in order to enable Friendly Fire on the consoles.
