  1. Because that would have the opposite of the intended effect vis a vis stopping future leaks of classified material. How so? This just so happens to be the perfect storm of a U.S. service member who was willing to sell out his country meeting another person who is all to happy to diseminate said information to everyone in the world. I think a bullet would go a very long way in plugging potential future leaks. And just to show I dont discriminate, the soldier should get one too. You make them martyrs.
  2. Yeah the slider settings in 2k11 are pretty great. Although they aren't available in the My Player mode for some reason I am playing on a controller (if you're on PC god I hope you're on a controller as well...) and I mash my 'A' button (the pass button) all the time on the popups which does seem to speed things along a little bit. It also results in me occasionally calling for a "bad pass" which makes my coach angry Assuming you're on PC, give me a PM sometime if you want to try an MP game. I haven't tried one for fear of getting crunched by nublets. PM me if you have any questions about the game in general too (from a vocabulary point of view, or otherwise).
  3. People like you actually think that what the victim's of violent crimes and their families need is the execution of someone in order to determine some sort of closure. The fact of it is that death row forces these people to not move on because the appeal process (through the checks and balances you yourself mention) because the issue is never over as long as that person remains on death row. But hey, some screenwriter felt that Anthony Hopkins should state his line. Far be it for me to let you berate some people as being bleeding heart liberals (which I laughably am not) when you decide to start quoting Hollywood. I certainly wouldn't call Guard Dog a bleeding heart liberal. Life imprisonment DOES take them out of the gene pool. And it does it at a cheaper cost than the death penalty.
  4. I'm well aware of the circumstances regarding the death penalty (note: your link only applies specifically to Kentucky btw). I'm also well aware of the levels of corruption that exist at varying levels of the judicial system. Ambitious people looking to make careers for themselves and jaded individuals that utilize bias. And unless you somehow remove the human element from the judicial system, this isn't going to go away. LOL are you serious? Grasping at straws now aren't we. You do understand that a death row inmate is NOT executed shortly after sentencing, right? Is a death row inmate suddenly less able to go around killing prison guards and other inmates simply because he's on death row and not just imprisoned for a life sentence? Or is it that in the later years of their life sentence that these people are now demonstrably more murderous and hostile than the would be in the early years of their imprisonment? Supporting the death penalty in the real world means accepting that people WILL be killed by the government that DO NOT deserve it. I am never one to give the government that kind of power. I would support the death penalty if the justice system was actually immaculate. But it's not. And it's never going to be. The biggest difference with a government sanctioned execution and someone dying from a drunk driver is that one is an accident, the other is intentional. The death penalty has no noticeable effect on the rates of violent crimes (in fact, the US states with the death penalty have the highest rates of murder in the United States) so it doesn't appear to have any effect via deterrence. Life without parole has also been shown to be significantly cheaper due to the lack of extensive appeal process that, in my opinion, is required if you wish to enforce capital punishment.
  5. I've been playing it a fair bit. 80% of it is great, but 20% of it is ugh haha. I created a Power Forward as My Player and have been in general having fun with it. I am a backup PF on the Spurs (drafted 20th overall) and have got my rating up to about 66 now (from like 40 lol). The most frustrating thing about the game by far is how often the game takes control out of your hands. It's retarded how often you get "stuck" in some animation. It looks nice and all, but if I push to move away from the guy, I should turn away from the guy! The MJ mode saved the game for me though haha. And now that I am familiar with most of the intricacies of the game, I find it a lot more tolerable.
  6. Unless you feel that the justice system will ever become flawless (I'm not holding my breath), then supporting the death sentence means you're okay with the occasional innocent person being executed.
  7. The problem is that the US doesn't just execute murderers. They execute those that have been found guilty of murder. However, there has been situations where, after the accused has already been executed, it is later shown that the accused was in fact innocent. Whoops. Executing prisoners is also more expensive than life sentencing, believe it or not.
  8. Don't take away one's right to use vague, non-specific words and then assume others would know what they are talking about!!! Oh wait... Human Revolution... Seriously considering a preorder. I like the art style of the game and the gameplay does look like it has mass potential to be hella fun. Not the biggest fan of inventory tetris.... But it's not a deal breaker
  9. There's some pretty intense trade routes you can take advantage of running a circuit. Unfortunately I don't remember the full details, but it basically involved starting in Swadia, heading to the... yellow guys (The Egyptian Faction....), then back through Khergit into Vaegir Kingdom, down to the Nords, back into Swadia. With a fast horse and good riding skill (and a small group) you can make the journey very, very quickly. Plus, once you've gotten your hired NPCs into some kickass gear, that group can continue to beat up on guys for some great XP and good coin to boot. You can also attack the coastal pirates that frequently pop up around Vaegir and Nordic coasts. They often have heavy mail for equipment and it can be sold for decent cash.
  10. I loved how Demolition Man made a very similar prediction
  11. The icons go away as you play. The game is "scary" when you're playing on the hardest difficulty and a tank spawns while you're on a rooftop, but not because of the zombie invasion itself. I don't remember anyone discussing that the game is scary perse, though some of the levels in the first one had great atmosphere iMO.
  12. It's simplicity is part of its charm IMO. I never played the second one, but the first was an absolute blast.
  13. Yes I know it was an official abbreviation. I do enjoy it when people get mad at "Xmas" haha
  14. Just a question, but why an insistence on using 'x' in place of Christ? I know it's not incorrect, but reading 'xian' I usually find myself connecting with Chinese cities
  15. Well, if they ended with the fall of Constantinople, then that statement is still true.
  16. I'm glad it worked out for you mkreku! I <3 Steam and I would have felt conflicted if they didn't do the right thing here
  17. It was and did, yes. That's common knowledge. Yes I know This is what I was making a reference to earlier. The "church" still did plenty of good, despite much of the bad that was going on at the same time.
  18. I love the Fallout 2 Gigilo perk you can get. As long as it has two legs and a heartbeat, and sometimes you're not even that particular (or something like that)
  19. So you're saying the Vatican was basically acting like a country?
  20. Middle Earth!?
  21. So Bethany then?
  22. I am suffering from the flu too. But I still understand that Christian Scholars did a pretty darn good job of writing stuff down as we plunged into the Dark Ages. Even as an agnostic that doesn't particularly care for organized religion, I think it's still just as bad to equally dismiss the Vatican and other organized religions.

Japan's motivation was the expansion of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. Before WW2 even started they were already at war with China. They utilized the conflict in the West to secure a lot of France's regions once France capitulated. Once they were officially at war with the Allied powers, they moved on the Dutch East Indies, Australia, and Burma.
  24. I think he's a crazy kangaroo!
