  1. This is the same circumstance I found in every Civ game. The early game is always very fast.
  2. Hmmm I have the game set to autopatch in Steam..... EDIT: Restarting Steam seems to have me d/l something though
  3. You can build most units in a single turn (and it's encouraged to do so as far as I'm concerned) by buying them, given the separation of science and gold income made it a lot easier to raise money. It sounds like the problem was you didn't bother adjusting to the changes of the game and just kept trying to do more of the same from Civ 4. Also: You must have been playing on Marathon, weren't you?
  4. How the heck do you play for money with Caravan? No one ever matches any of my bets and I play for free. EDIT: Sounds like it could be a bug with the PC version. No NPC starts things off with any bets.
  5. The .308 is cheaper, lighter, and more plentiful IMO. I kept Boone with a sniper rifle (once I got the .50 cal) and he liked to face stomp with it. I wouldn't worry about min-maxing as he just demolished with the rifle. Loaded him up with 330 or so rounds and he had fun. Also: Boone did have an epilogue for me :\

  7. You might be shocked to know that there are people that loved BG2 that also loved DAO as well. I can agree with the meomao in that it's bold because they decided to shift the franchise away from the game formula that resulted in their best selling game to date.
  8. Meh, some guy getting a sneak peek of a game he's looking forward to that turns out to really enjoy it probably would be pretty enthusiastic. It's a fan giving a review, so I think it's obvious that one's mileage may vary in terms of accepting this as a fair and balanced review of the demo he played.
  9. It's finicky and I found an online tutorial about it. The weird thing is that you're probably trying to put the card BESIDE the original, rather than next in sequence. The game is not clear about this at all. Try moving the card down when you're trying to place it in sequence. It's kind of a fun game actually
  10. At least his other posts make sense now given the closed threads haha.
  11. Reading the article he was from Italy.
  12. 188 is "part of the quest path" in that it's very difficult to miss it while on your way to new vegas. Evidently not impossible though
  13. It'd be stupid to force the player into crafting stuff. All of my .308 ammo do 1.50x damage, and my .44 ammo does 1.25x damage and reduces my targets DT to boot. Crafting the powerful ammo is very, very handy. However, there's no reason why the game should force you to craft extra ammo.
  14. Did you try cycling between "use melee" and "use ranged" in the companion circle? That works for me.
  15. I found 4 without much look. He's not a bot. What he likely is is someone paid to go onto message boards to spread propaganda.
  16. Gambling is affected by luck.
  17. ...and it would have been more polished. What's your point? My point is that, Alpha Protocol as it stands exactly as it is (without more polish), BioWare's reputation would influence how reviewers (and many players) perceive the exact same game.
  18. If you select a quest in your pipboy, it usually marks the next objective on your map.
  19. Yeah this does seem to be the case. I am guessing Luck 5 is fairly neutral. I was able to win in 21, but it didn't seem unnatural.
  20. that's my favorite line in the whole game, when I first saw it I couldn't stop laughing for 5 whole minutes Yeah it's probably my favourite too. I maintain that it is and it's part of what makes it so awesome. There's no shortage of stuff that is absurdly funny in that game.
  21. Given game mechanics they could barley scratch them. It gets even worse with legion supposedly defeating them with machetes. Yes, and given game mechanics, water heals gunshots. Game mechanics are not the setting's reality. Indeed and using common sense that outcome is even more absurd. Unless you are willing to believe that 2000 years of weapon and armor development can be completely discounted. Almost every member of Caesar's Legion I have bumped into has used firearms.
  22. It definitely affects damage. My 10mm pistol has gone from something like 14 dam fully repaired to 22 dam or so with my gun skill now at 100.
  23. So the opening video, a leather jacket reference and ron perlmans narration is enough to call the game "silly and ridiculous"? If you'd like me to give a more than 5 second run down of the setting I would, but frankly I don't have the time to go home and load up the game just to find them all for you. Especially since you demonstrated a complete failure in reading comprehension as I did not indicate that Perlman's dialogue was silly. I was saying the very first thing you see in the game when you start playing is silly and full of dark humor. You know, the video clip that you see about our boys keeping the peace in Canada, and the absurdly silly pipboy caricatures hiding themselves in the vault? I thought you were a fan and all and this wouldn't have needed further elaboration. Look, for some reason you seem to take offense to the fact that Fallout was, in large part, not an entirely serious game. I don't know why, but whatever. IMO the game was laden with dark humor and at many points in time, damn hilarious. It just wasn't as 4th wall breaking with pop-culture references (though those did still exist in the original) and some more absurdly silly scenes, and it did have a darker theme. Maybe you perceive dialogue options such as the conversation with Gizmo having "Could you repeat that, but this time speak closer to my lapel" as a serious response, but I don't. And the game is laced with stuff like this. As for the leather jacket reference, it was more than the jacket as it actually affected dialogue in the game with a key NPC and let you pick up a different NPC all in the nod to the pop culture reference it was based upon.
