Int pops up most frequently (it was the biggest impact in FO1/2 as well), but I have seen Perception, Charisma, and I think even 1 Agility in there as well.

The Iraq war was a disgrace, but sometimes we forget just how much

Do you seriously not know why his name is Deep Throat? -
Actually, I believe it's higher than that for the drug use. People keep putting their heads in the sand about the state of PC games...it's amazing how much in denial many are. Steam can make money due to the cutting out of middle men, but the numbers are pretty bad in relation to what they were many years ago for the PC gamer. It's still pretty healthy for consoles though. What are these numbers pray tell?

I have never noticed a SPECIAL failure, only the skill failures.

You should be able to use any duplicate gun with any repair skill (you just get less repair per duplicate weapon). Small location spoiler:

To be fair, I find it hard to go back and play games that I didn't also love back in the day haha. Fallout 1/2 isn't really one of those games.

Haha that is true. The guy definitely has his tastes and they are much more in line with FO3. The aspects of FONV that he feels make it better than FO1&2 are likely the similarities to FO3.
-
While I disagree that FO3 > FONV, but I did like exploring in FO3 more.

The dll makes the game think you have an older nVidia card so it will auto-default to lower settings. I have a Radeon HD 5850 and I just put it right back up to Ultra Settings and it worked fine. It did help with some laggy issues with lots of people on it (well, that and the multiple core .ini changes).

Portal with about 0.01 seconds of thinking about it. Also: why are you limiting the criteria to only story based and strategy games? There's nothing really groundbreaking about a first person puzzle game other than the use of that particular perspective. As for the much vaunted story of Portal I don't really see what's the big deal about it. Overall its more of a gimmick than a real game. There's nothing really groundbreaking about an isometric RPG system like Baldur's Gate 1/2, yet you seem to have a major jonesing for it too. Especially given how the first game was laden with excessive linearity. The only groundbreaking thing about Starcraft was that they actually found a way to balance 3 distinctly different races. Blizzard has never been particularly creative though, and just do a very good job of taking and refining ideas from other games (or in the case of the entire Starcraft lore, other table top miniature games like Warhammer). If you really want, I could go through probably all of the games on the big list in the OP and find a way to trivialize the game to the point where I can conclude that they aren't groundbreaking (for the record, games like Baldur's Gate 2 and Starcraft are games I do think are fantastic). Portal was an excellent game with fantastic pacing, and found a way to take the first person perspective and create some fantastic gameplay elements that have never been done before. If doing stuff that has never been done before isn't groundbreaking, then I think we're using different definitions of the word.

I'm a bit confused. If there's these old classic games that have stood the test of time that everyone still plays, then how is everyone buying up the latest games as well? Wouldn't a game be more likely to "stand the test of time" simply because no other game of similar quality gets released for a significant period of time? I would also disagree that many of your games are big games that "stood the test of time." I think that nostalgia might be playing a large role here as well.

Is there a consolidated area for tweaks to improve performance? 80% of the performance is fine but I do get some stuttering.

He didn't say "If P, then Q" He stated an opinion. If you need him to explicitly state "In my opinion" or "I feel" or anything like that, then that is your problem. That you tried to bring in some conditional connective has just made you look bad. Look at what he wrote: "If you liked DA1, you will likely like DA2." There's no "If P, then likely Q" in logic, because it's inconclusive. He's making a statement based upon what he believes. It does not call into question your belief that you will not like DA2 even though you liked DAO. Which is certainly how you appear to be treating it and is the only reason I can think of right now is why you're beating your chest and trying so hard to be right when you are definitely wrong. His statement may not be right, and it may be right, when DA2 is finally released. But it most certainly is not a logical fallacy. (and it certainly doesn't state DA1=DA2...)

It's definitely not as challenging. I haven't tried harder difficulty levels though.

The guy basically was playing the same as a warrior would be played, charging the enemies ahead and going all melee. No different tactics were involved. He did use a stun or two but the difference wasn't impressive and certainly the gameplay didn't feel like he was playing a badass ninja as Bioware tried to imply. What different tactics would you like to see in a game that is predominantly action based for two classes that are both equipped with melee weapons?
-
It's all part of the 'rogues will be different' -> 'sees video' -> 'they play exactly like warriors' part. Does "play like warriors" simply include "they use martial weapons in combat?"

My autosaves still appear to be present and fine so I'm not sure. This game uses the steam cloud!?!? If it does then GG to my productivity at work!
