  1. Really? I can't really think of anything off the top of my head.
  2. I miss stuff like that from the old Ultima games, where your kleptomania was harshly judged by observers, party members or otherwise.
  3. Eh, I didn't mind the dialogue of Mass Effect, and I loved Alpha Protocol's dialogue.
  4. I think the Wii is an enigma though, given the user base tends to be quite different (as in very casual) compared to the "status quo" of the gaming market.
  5. Because you've now begun to discriminate by sex. You're saying that compromises should be made for women where the effectiveness in combat isn't compromised. You end up implicitly saying that a man is not eligible for the same compromise simply because he is a man. Creating separate standards for the same role is systemic discrimination. Say a woman that meets 90% of the criteria for physical performance is deemed an acceptable compromise. Why should the male that meets 95% of the criteria (including the same 90% the woman is able to achieve) not be accepted, even though he is actually a superior candidate than the woman?
  6. In other words an excuse that "we can't design a proper FPS for the 21th century". That's why Bulletstorm is stuck in the 90s shooter-gallery mentality. For a game I've only just heard of, it sounds more like "an fps that encourages gameplay that's different from all the other ones out there." Unless your point is that the people of the 21st century all suffer from creativity issues.
  7. What argument is going on here? You believe what you believe, and I believe what I believe. Nothing is going to change that. I think that your argument is laced with cynicism and a sense of just being contrary (i.e. trying to start something), and really all I am saying is "I'd rather something like this happen than not." You can call me naive for mine, but I'll just call you arrogant for yours. Whee. You want a golf clap for having a contrary opinion to mine?
  8. So it's the infantry the measure for all troops? No, I was saying that as long as a woman is not allowed into infantry by anything less than the same standards, I have no issue with it. I wasn't talking about armed forces in general. Have you been actually following this thread because most people here don't seem to have an issue with women in many roles in the military. But infantry (and other combat roles apparently) often have very grueling physical requirements. This sets a standard of expectations for how physically capable they are, so you can take a look at any foot soldier's name and at the very least of a basic guarantee of the minimum capabilities of that soldier.
  9. It sounds like you're basing your opinion on the movie on how you think it should be, rather than how it actually is.
  10. As I said, as long as they can hold up to the same standards for infantry, I have no issues with women getting involved with it.
  11. Oh, I don't know. This doesn't directly affect me, but I think I'd be pretty pissed if the same people who actively promote discrimination against the ethnic group I belong to staged a farce like this. Of course! It's easy to say stuff like this when you're not actually a part of either group!
  12. Cynicism? I'd rather see a gesture like this than nothing at all.
  13. What are you looking forward to for DA2?
  14. What's also fun is how many were slagging on DAO before it was released, stating it'd be bastardized and what have you.. Of this group, many said "meh" to DAO when it came out, citing all the bad things and how it wasn't BG2 incarnate. And now many of these same people are now upset because they actually did like DAO (some of them somewhat emphatically) and are giving DA2 the gears because of claims it's been bastardized or whatever. If you don't like the direction a franchise is going, why would you pre-order the game? Especially since pre-orders are considered THE most important thing a developer/publisher looks for. If you don't like the direction a franchise is going, it's one thing to state that. It's another to constantly chime in about how much you are all boo-urns about it and how you think the design decisions are ****ty. Bitch about the game if it sucks is fine. But to buy a game that you think will suck before hand? That's baffling. Why would anyone waste their time getting something that they don't think they will like? Are people that conditioned to just buy whatever schlock that gets put in front of them? If you're curious how the game will be, why don't you pick it up for cheaps on a Steam Sale or something? It's okay to have a passing interest in something. But if there's nothing about the game that appeals to someone, they're wasting their time by following it further, and wasting their money if they decide to pick it up. Unless, of course, they think there's a chance the game will be good. Is it just a case of "Expect the worst so you won't be disappointed?"
  15. HAHA I wish people would sabotage me similarly
  16. Weird view that, your opinion is irrelevant because you bought the game ? Hm. Hard to evaluate the game otherwise, no ? Then again, if you're classing nitpicky comments as whining, heh, well. I can agree with the sentiment that I do find all the hate funny when (I am assuming) people will still be picking up the game. I think for some it's become more of a "I want to play the game simply so I can rip it apart." Kind of like how those that hated Howard Stern listened to him longer than those that liked him (if you're to believe the movie anyways).
  17. Christian Bale flatlining on the emotion reader and then kicking the bejebus out of everyone else with gun-fu is win though.
  18. HAHAHA I completely missed that one too.
  19. Wait, you actually think she's a pre-teen? HAHA. See what you want to see I guess.
  20. I bet most guys here wouldn't want to roleplay with them at all
  21. I thought it was pretty cool too. Kudos to all of them.
  22. ??? All you've said is "biologically plausible" with an at best quasi explanation meaning that people will live longer and be more likely to die of stab wounds. Guess what, they'll also be less likely to die of natural causes. As humanity's life expectancy has gotten longer, the percentage of population made up of children has gone down, in part because people have less kids, and the fact that people live longer and count as "not a child" longer. I haven't seen anything resembling a position being put forth outside of "because." You say based on "biological plausibility." What does that mean?

  24. Interesting. Hard to hit I imagine too. How were you "undetected?" Just sloppy play by the other team?
  25. I imagine stuff like the Pz II aren't particularly useful in games like this? Haha. Is it two teams?
