    Still being warm here, but at least not quite as nastily hot as it was. Gran might be out of hospital in a day or two, and the back and forth of mom having a hospital appointment this afternoon to deal with. Edit: Heh, and just found out about Nukemap3d. A historian specialising in nuclear weapons has created a 3d simulator that uses googlemaps to let you choose a location, pick a size/type of nuclear weapon.. and show what it would look like.

    Gabrielle Union - actor. Also devout catholic. Which has the funny anecdote that she was in a movie where she had to do a lapdance to distract a guy. So she did this scene and pretty much went straight to confesional and did a "forgive me father, I've just had to shake my ass on camera and it's going to be on 20 ft wide screens across america." She admits to seeing the funny side in that.. Aisha Tyler - Comedian, Actress, Author, somewhat of a Nerd Icon, you'd more likely recognise her voice if you ever watched Archer ..and currently hosting the new "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" Gina Torres - Now you've lost major geek points Most recognised for Firefly, Angel, Matrix Reloaded, and a few others.

    Oh no. In the UK "Public School" used to be the private, high fee charging (mostly boarding) schools. They were "Public" schools because they weren't run or maintained by the Government, also they were meant to be open to anyone who paid the fees regardless of occupation, religion, or where they lived in the country. They were also more likely to be single sex and the majority were Boys schools. Nowadays they've started to go co-ed, and a lot of them accept "day students" as well. Over the years they developed into being where the early "old boys networks" were formed, as the upper classes and high middle class would send their kids to them. It really came into it during the British Empire days when the sons of the various administrators / officers would be sent to them while their parents were out around the colonies and overseas.

    Heh, and apparently Cameron's going all "we've won a great step forwarf for morality" over setting things up that all UK isp's will have a default "parent-filter" that households will have to opt out of to get access to internet porn. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23401076 Hm, how much longer before they start adding other filters that get much more quietly mentioned so people are aware or not.. <quietly paranoid moment>

    For some strange reason people who meet me keep thinking I must have gone to a public school. I have no frelling idea why. Is it because you can't sit down? I think it's a mix of the accent and always wearing a jacket....
