  1. Studio 60 had one season with 22 episodes... Well, it was the whole show within a show, a variant Saturday Night Live show and the things going on around it. Mathew Perry and Bradley Whitford, with some good support from Amanda Peet, D L Hughley, Steven Weber and a whole bunch of others. Plus it came out a few months ahead of 30 Rock. It might sound snobbish, but it came across as a lot more educated and witty to begin with. Whenever I saw 30 Rock it tended more to the juvenile satire and almost sliding into pratfall type of comedy. Entertaining in its way, but it can be nice to see a show that's unafraid to pull out a Gillbert and Sullivan twist.
  2. Heh. On the last day of principle photography, Benedict Cumberbatch walks from shooting into a comic shop to spend some time hanging out.... http://geektyrant.com/news/benedict-cumberbatch-hangs-out-in-comic-book-store-dressed-in-full-doctor-strange-costume

  5. Just to give Oby that happy of western imperialism trying to make Russia look bad... Vladimir Putin is literally a comic book villain now
  6. Eh, I always preferred Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. That was a shame it only got the one season.
  7. It's all about that dance magic dance?
  8. It's the "Why yes, people who are rich are able to afford the lawyers and accountants to utilise obscure tax and finance law along with setting up shell companies, off shore accounts, and get banking instittutions to 'facilitate' matters that people without money can't do."

  10. I've got a good chunk of the old 80's Marvel run of Star Wars, alongside the UK version of Transformers from about issue 74 to the last one..which was, hm, something like 365 if I remember. Plus I've got a stack of 2000AD that's about 9 inches high. All safely stored in liners and boxes up in the attic. The things you end up stashing away....
  11. Houdini and Doyle A quirky little mini-series number, fictionalised account of Harry Houdini and Arthur Conan Doyle's antagonistic friendship as they explored inexplicable mysteries together. Houdini in his attempts to disprove psychics and related flim-flammery while Doyle struggled to find the supernatural and see how science could explore the boundaries of what we don't know. Stephen Mangan as Doyle, and Michael Weston as Houdini with a pretty good supporting cast.
  12. They actually got together and did the Amalgam comics. DC and Marvel universes got smashed together, they initially fought, then ended up merged. So you had this new Universe where you had squished together "Batman Wolverine named Dark Claw", a Dr Fate merged with Professor X, and all sorts along those lines.
  13. One of the scariest things you will ever hear in the Army... A 2LT starting a sentence with "I think..."
