Eddie the Eagle. It's a very nicely done adaption of the true story of one man's struggle to become an Olympic Athlete when everybody had told him he had no chance. The complete tenacious underdog story, with Taron Egerton playing the part of Eddie, and Hugh Jackman as the fictional former star turned alcoholic rebel as his coach. It takes a few stretches on reality, but it punches all the right emotional buttons.

For a little bit of history and philosophy... A reminder on how history cycles and what was relevant to a moment in the past, can be relevant in the current day. At a time of Zealotry, Spinoza still matters The article runs a little dense to be quoted fully here, but it might interest a few folks. -
I have to admit this kind of slipped up on me. The original Scion was a bit of a mess but really had some fun hooks to play around with. /Nine years and a week - Scion 2nd Edition

Well, they said pretty much the same thing about Game of Thrones. That series still hasn't been completely written yet. I'll be curious just to see how it does shake out. Heh, and whether they'll follow GoT in filming in Ireland, Shannara and LoTR in filming in New Zealand, or pull out a surprise and shoot somewhere else....

Had a go at the new Hitman episode. It's definitely a weird mix of reactions to it. On the one hand, it's an incredibly large level, with a huge amount of options for how you go about completing the mission. On the other, it's one single level, and bookended by two small cutscenes that still give you bugger all story, just the vaguest of hints that someone is manipulating all the events. Sure, you get the online "Contracts" side, and also the only available while logged on (for some bizarre reason) Escalation contracts. Which are basically "use the map for the level, but it has an escalating series of actions you need to perform to complete". So first level is "kill x guy in y disguise with z weapon", 2nd level is that plus "break open the safe" , 3rd level is all the previous things plus "kill this other guy, wearing some other disguise and using another weapon", and so on and so forth. But that's it. One single level for this episode and no real storytelling to sink its hooks into you. If there's only a few more episodes to go and they're all like this, it's going to be disappointing.

Season finale of Lucifer. Some nice twists and a setup for what the second season will be about. That, and some fun snark. It shouldn't work, but the way they throw themselves into the delivery of the lines just clicks well.

From one of the Marvel screenwriters in regards to the Ancient One and whitewashing... Apparently in part it was also to not risk offending the Chinese and the billion viewers they have who could potentially end up not paying to see the film. Also these comments:
