It wasn't intended as a "because of this, this game is craptastic". It was meant as a general comment in the vein of "I like the idea behind it, but I don't think it worked in execution."

I've been dabbling with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It's fairly engaging so far and is has a nicely sprawling feel to it. There's an interesting option to turn off all English speaking, so npc's actually speak in their native language - supposedly done to increase your immersion if you want to. Which is a nice idea, but I feel it fails in that due to Lara only speaking English to them. They rattle off in the local dialect, subtitles tell you what it means, and Lara responds in English which they perfectly understand and reply back.. in their own tongue. So I think that falls under slight failure in execution.

Eh, I'm not mad per se, more the "Considering how many deaths following Hurricane Maria are apparently due to lack of good drinking water, this seems a rather critical failure at some point in the disaster relief efforts." Although the general irritation with Trump declaring it a success with how many died is a somewhat seperate issue. And I've got a fair few friends in the paths of the current crop of tropical storms, which leaves me wondering that if the worst happens for them... can they actually rely on much aid from their government. Which is not something you should expect from the great and glorious US of A.

To be fair, the French colony of Canada was formed in the 1500's some point. But yes, the federal dominion of Canada wasn't formed until about 1860-somewhen. Still, this is funny things that amuse, not historically accurate.

Film wise, theres six of them, with a few television and video games sprinkled on top. This particular movie was straight-to-video. Kevin Bacon was going to return to a new tv series following on from the first two films. But alas, apparently it got cancelled before they could really get the pilot going.

I've got some friends in San Diego I haven't seen in person for years, I'm pondering on how hard it would be to take a day trip during that period to go see them. I could leave dad with the one-armed bandits and get a short round trip flight possibly.. hm. Considerations, considerations.

Sat at the computer, doing some job search stuff online and phone goes. Dad: "What do you think of Las Vegas at Christmas?" Me: "Huh?" Dad: "Seriously, Las Vegas, Christmas, what do you think?" Me: "Sorry.. Um, what's this in relation to?" Dad: "Would you like to spend Christmas week in Las Vegas?" Me: "I guess it would be interesting, where's this coming from?" Dad: "Oh, just helping a friend sort out some holiday things, and I saw this cheap offer for a week at the Luxor for x amount, and if I book it for myself, it's only another 200 bucks for you to come. So want to spend Christmas in Las Vegas?" So looks like I might be doing a Father Son trip to the Strip Christmas week.
